November 10, 2007 - MAGIC - Eastern

You think anyone will notice if my boys are wearing something other than Disney costumes around the ship? My boys LOVE LOVE LOVE their BATMAN dressups and pretty much wear the 12 hours a day. :joker:

Cheryl, the important thing is for your children to have fun and they be happy, so bring it girl friend;)

Connor is SO going to love your boys! He's a huge fan of all the superheroes!

Anybody else so excited that they can't get anything done? I know I have so much to do, but I can't seem to leave the computer. I did a spin class at the gym this morning, and the whole time I'm thinking, "One week from today, the whole family will be doing the Water Island Bike Adventure."

I can't wait to go. I still have to think of a way to get the kids out of school early on Friday. They're missing 5 days next week, which is the legal limit the school district allows. Any more, and we have to go before the district judge:scared1: .

I found this on the NASA site, looks a later than I thought....8:40PM. Maybe we'll see something but I guess not much. :(

Event: Delta 4-H - DSP 23
Date: 11/10/2007

Time: 08:40:00 PM EST
Details: The United Launch Alliance Delta 4-Heavy rocket will launch the 23rd and final Defense Support Program missile-warning satellite. The largest of the Delta 4 family, the Heavy version features three Common Booster Cores mounted together to form a triple-body rocket. The vehicle will deliver DSP 23 directly into geostationary orbit.
Location: SLC-37B, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida

If it is a clear as the forecast says it will be, we should be able to watch the rocket go all the way into orbit.

I lived there when I was younger, on a clear night, you will be able to see all of the burns and separations all the way to the end.

Of course because of the distance, it will be mostly a bright light in the sky, but still pretty cool to see.

Hey Lauri, I'm trying to do my housework before my mom gets here tomorrow to stay with the kids while we are cruising with you guys.....and beleive it or not, in an hour i've only done the bathroom :scared1:

Got to get a mouve on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:headache:

All,

We will be hosting the wine tasting / suite tour at 3:00 PM on Monday, our second sea day, in the Roy. We are providing 5 or 6 wines from our wine shop & online website for tasting.

We will have the culinary staff on the Magic cater some fruit & cheese platters, just enough for nibbles, donations to help cover the cost would be gladly accepted.

If you have a favorite wine, and wish to do so, please bring it along to share!

As far as the kids go, we are planning on running movies :happytv: popcorn:: in the library, so they can hang out without us adults.

Well behaved children are welcome, badly behaved children will be handed over to pirates ( no, Captain Hook won't really be there unless I can get concierge to pull some strings ) for plank walking and other activities .pirate:

All we ask is that no one open the drawers in the bedrooms, if desired, a private showing of our skivies can be arranged

If anyone has any questions, please let us know, we are not leaving for the ship until 10:00 PM, PST Friday night, so we can respond up until then.

Can't wait to see everyone on the ship!

The biggest waves along the route today are 6 feet.

There should be little to no ship motion once we get past the gulf stream.

There are no major weather issues anywhere, other than the minor cool snap in Florida, that cold front is not producing much rain or even clouds for that matter. in fact the forecast for St. Thomas is now a 10% chance of rain the day we show up, with a high temp in the low 80's.... fantastic!

Sounds fantastic! I think our DDs have planned to meet up with each other before then, although the details are sketchy (to me at least), but we definitely look forward to meeting the two of you on Monday if not before.

I can believe it. I thought about cleaning the house before we left, but it was fleeting :lmao: . I aonly have half an hour until I start picking the kids up from school for piano lessons. Guess I'll just spend that time hanging around here.

Thank you, thank you for this! We just found out that my son can't take the bonine because it will interfere with some of his other meds and I was really worried that leaving the port he would get sick. I have the sea bands for kids, but doubt I can get him to wear them. this eases my mind so much!

How about plain old Dramamine? The other option is Ginger Snaps, or if they can swallow them, the capsules.

The passage through the gulf stream is always a little rougher than othe areas, because the water itself is moving at 8-9 miles an hour.

From what I can garner from all of the reports, there shouldn't be any large waves at all, so smooth sailing, here we come.

It doesn't bother me at all, both DW and DD have motion sickeness issues on land, but even the wife was fine until we hit 30 footers - even then a dose of dramamine fixed her right up.

This is the link to the bouy 20 miles east of the port:

http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=41009

Just scroll down until you see wave height - which is 6.2 feet right now.

Once the cold front passes, it should calm back down even further, the waves yesterday were 3 feet high.

This is the bouy a hundred miles or so north of the VI:

http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=41043

Waves are 5.2 feet, 82 degrees and about a 10 mph breeze.

This is the link to the weather station in St. Thomas:

http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=chav3

Where it is 79 degrees with a 9 mph breeze.

Sea you soon! ( nyuck, nyuck )

You are cracking me up! Can't wait to meet you in person!

Ted and Karen - thanks for doing this! I can't wait to see your awesome suite and get a chance to meet everyone.

Target marked halloween down to 90% off today. I went looking for a pirate costume for me but couldn't find one. I got a new one for two of my boys. For 1.79 each. Got dh one but its missing the head piece so need to return it.

If anyone's still looking for something for pirate night, go check out target.

May have to stop by myself and check out this suite. Dh can watch the kids. Otherwise they may be heading off that plank;)

My guess is the majority of the kids will be firmly esconced in clubs, etc, but those who aren't can come and check it out.

My guess is that is much more fun than hangin' with grownups - ewww.

When our DD was 7'ish, we could hardly get her out of the club to come to dinner, shows, bed, NYE, etc.

Ours, too, except they wouldn't miss dinner on our last cruise -- one DS had shrimp cocktail every night, the other ate a whole year's worth of red meat, and once DD learned she could order two deserts, that was all it took to lure her to the dinner table every night! She even went all by herself the night we were in Palo; we were at a table by ourselves, and the table next to ours also was in Palo, so Hannah had the two servers all to herself. I think that was the highlight of the trip for her -- talk about being treated like a queen!

Officemax had 2G SD cards for 20 bucks the other day, not sure if it's still going on or if it's in your area, but it's a thought

Has anybody used Shutters to upload photos from a digital card to a CD.
I'm debating on whether to invest $80.00 in a new digital card. My camera holds approximately 600 photos, which is a lot. But I tend to take lots of photos. I took 340 pictures at WDW in August over 5 days. So I'm thinking it might be close. We are 2 days in WDW after the cruise. Total 9 days of photos. I'm thinking there is a stong possiblity that I may need to upload my photo before going WDW. Lots of festive happens going on which might means more pictures.

If you have use shutters to upload photos, how much did it cost?
