nov 28, 2010 - 4 night cruise on wonder

Wescotts - Understandable. Family time is key. I went to Hidden Valley/Cave Spring so you're in my old stomping grounds : )

Beth,

I grew up in Vienna!

Still go up to No. Va to visit family. The traffic is terrible!

And it's getting worse every day!!! I work in Vienna and it's only a 16 mile commute. Depending on the day of the week, construction and traffic problems, it can take anywhere from 25 mins. to 2 hours :scared1: By the time they finish building the Metro out to here, I'll be ready to retire :sad2:

Just think......

1 week

from today, we'll be setting sail on the most WONDERful adventure!! :cool1: Only 3 more days of work for me!! :cool1:

Sounds like fun, CrazyBoutDisney. I will see what my sister's up for, and maybe we can make it.

Wescotts -we live in Roanoke too! We're flying out ROA this time next Friday! I can't wait. Glad to know the ships not too full (maybe we can get an upgrade: )

I decided to splurge and do the Dolphin Swim in Nassau. Is anyone else doing that? Done it in the past?

OMG! I grew up in Roanoke Va. and my parents and sister's family still live there too! This is CRAZY! What a small world! I go back once/twice a year and miss living there like crazy. Roanoke is an awesome town. I can't wait to meet you guys and see if we know any of the same people, went to same schools, church, etc!

Sounds like Virginia will be well represented on this cruise--I think with us from Northern VA, we've covered everything but the Tidewater area! Can't wait to meet everybody!!

rlm, we may run into you Saturday! We're planning to hit the space center, too, since the shuttle will be on the launch pad. Besides, I'm in dire need of a new NASA polo shirt!! :rotfl:

I was wondering if I could ask you a HUGE favor. We aren't making it to the space center bc of timing. If there is a shirt in an XXL and/or a book about this last launch, could you possibly pick it up for me? I would love to surprise my dh with it for an anniversary present bc he loves NASA and I feel bad we couldn't make it. And if there isn't, a NASA polo shirt in XXL would be great. I would obviously pay you back immediately. If you don't feel comfortable doing it, I totally understand.

I'm really in shock how many DIS'ers from Virginia are on this trip. I went to Cave Spring High School, lived in Penn Forest in Roanoke; went to Longwood College in Farmville; and one of my bestest friends grew up in and still is in Vienna, Virginia, working in DC. And to bring in Tidewater, my uncle was in the army, so he lives in Virginia Beach where we did our annual trip. So my dh will probably laugh bc my southern accent will come back on this trip! (we live in upstate NY).

I guess we are going to have to make a special effort to make the dismeet on the at sea day just to see all the VA people.

I just called and check on movies for our cruise,
Oceans
Toy Story 3 in 3D
The Sorcerer's Apprentice
Secretariat
TANGLED!!!

and two other movies that I had not heard of and missed writing down will all be playing. Tron does not premier until after we get back.

I just read a thread that the Wonder is testing some new menus this month. Wouldn't that be fun if they still are on our sail date. YUM!!!

I'm so bummed the pirate ship is gone. I was so looking forward to seeing it. So close and yet so far!

Awesome. Really want to see Secretariat and Tangled. What was the number to call? Now I am curious for the other 2 movies.

Movies - You can call 888-325-2500, choose the reservations option, then ask what movies will be showing the week you cruise.

Everyone, if you have not done so, I highly recommend reading through this

It is soooo helpful.

I had just read about the Flying Dutchman not being there as well. I was soo looking forward to seeing it again. Someone said that the Black Pearl would be replacing it, which I would like even better, but no word on when.

The other 2 movies are Step Up and You Again.

OMG I am so excited. Only 3 more sleeps until we leave.

How about the Promenade Lounge on Deck 3? It's not an Adults Only area and at 9am, there isn't anything going on in there, that I know of. There are plenty of chairs and room on the "dance floor" for the kids to get a little rambunctious. :teeth:

I was looking at a navigator from May for a 4-nighter and the Promenade Lounge had "Playhouse Disney Dance" at 9am and "Cruisin' for Trivia" at 9:30 on the sea day. Granted that was in May, so it may be empty for our cruise, but a backup location might be good to have.

Talk about waiting till the last minute. :rolleyes1 I was having cruise withdrawals. :scared1:

I decided to treat my Dgirlfriend and her DS15 to their first cruise. This will be my 4th Disney Cruise.

My last cruise was May 2009. Our disboard was the "MAGICal MAYniacs." We had over a hundred people - although not everyone showed up at the dismeet. Its been so long that I forgot all the little tips.. I've got some SCRAMBLING' to do before Sunday (unlike Brenda - for those of you who watch Survivor).

I do, however, remember a few tips.
1) Get one of those clear plastic over-the-door shoe holders. There is very little countertop space for putting your things.
2) Get to the port as early as you can. Your vacation starts as soon as you get to the terminal.
3) Put your motion sickness  game plan to work before you board the ship.

Let's hope you scramble better than she did. :rotfl2:

Welcome.

RANDY!!!!!! I remember you from the Magical MAYniacs cruise!!! Not quite so many people this time, but it will still be a blast. Oh yeah, and most of us are from Virginia! :rotfl: We have several first-time cruisers with us and I'm sure they would LOVE to hear your tried-and-true method for avoiding sea sickness. In fact, I wouldn't mind a refresher course, myself. Looking forward to seeing you again!!
