Sorry your not feeling welcome. A lot of people had to order or make gifts so we had to close it at some point. Let me know who you are traveling with, along with your room number, and I'll bring gifts by for the kids.

Welcome Dancin Mom. It was definitely not an intrusion. FEs typically close about 1 month before the cruise date, so that each person involved can plan and prepare the total number of gifts needed.

You are more than welcome to join us for the meet and greet and I would encourage you to look through the thread as there are many different tips and info. helpful for the cruise. The thread and meet are open to anyone who will be on the trip, unfortunately the FE part does have a cut off date in order to prepare.

There are other members who wll be at the meet who are not a part of the FE, for various reasons. We hope to see you there and congrats on your first trip! I am sure you are as excited as each of us are. Our family is counting down in the single digits for a trip we booked almost 2 years (and 1 baby) ago.

Don't worry about it. I just didn't know it was all structured like that. I thought people would hang them, and maybe post where they were and things would mysteriously happen...like...for fun. When I posted my original post I was figuring people just say hi and where they're staying, I didn't know there were rules and you had to be part of a list, knowing who is giving you things and when. It's my first cruise, I'm sure it will be special no matter what.

Does any other self proclaimed over-planner feel like you are responsible for everyone else having fun?
I feel like since I have been researching for so long and I scheduled the excursions that I will somehow be responsible if they are not fun. Just wondering if anybody else has this same feeling, or if I should probably seek counseling before we go. Oh, wait, I already am seeking counsel, that is why I come to the DIS boards.

Back to the Meet and Greet, I suggested 3:30 at the Promenade Lounge (Deck 3, Aft). This runs smack dab into the life boat drill at 4 (according to a recent Navigator for the MR trip from 9/25/2011 http://johnandsigrid.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/sunday-navigator-page-2.jpg). There is nothing but the drill happening from 3:30 to 4:15. Maybe 3:00 or 3:15 in the Promenade Lounge would be better. Adventure's Away party is at 4:15 until 5PM. Check out the Navigator and see if there is a better time.

It's our first cruise as well, and we signed on the list too late to do FE too. But, we may still decorate the cabin door and will definitely be up for having fun with everyone! I'm not sure what number cabin we are in yet, but we will look for the gathering on the first day!

Do you like to dance? or do your children dance? My DD ice skated for 10 years; once she discover a social life, she decided to quit. Do you watch DWTS? I am a huge fan. I love JR and Ricki Lake. I think they will be in the finals.

3:00 sounds good to me. That first day before the sail away party sounds good since it will only get busier as time goes by. Can't wait to get on the boat!!!!

As first time cruiser this is a great board to be on. Post all the questions you have and people will give lots of answers and opinions. I am on the boards early but do not do the FE because of the time and effort involved and being a single parent, I do not have the time. As Disney people everyone is great and hopefully on the board and on the ship.

Some note for first time Disney Cruisers:

1. Make your kids to the kids area, they will love it
2. Bring a camera with lots of film or memory. This is Disney with Disney characters.
3. Attend all of the nightly shows. This is Disney and the shows are Disney Quality.
4. Do the sit down dinners. Dinner is an experience not just food.
5. During the cruise they have a tour of the ship. Take it.
6. There is free soda fountain next to the pool.
7. Food is included so eat what you want and do not eat it if you do not like it.

May I make a sugestion... Setup a time and place for the day of boarding but also the first sea day. Many people do not have time to meet the day of boarding. There are lots of first time cruisers that would love to meet someone the morning of the first sea day to get help and advice.

I would suggest the Meet and Greet 2:45 ro 3:00 and a second Meeting on Monday about 9:00 am
