Nov 17, 2016 Magic Kingdom - closing at 4:30pm ??????

Does anyone know if there will be a fireworks show during the CM party (Wishes or something special)? We will be hanging out at the MK-area hotels that evening and will plan on watching if there is. I tried booking the Pirates and Pals Fireworks cruise and it looks like it's not offered that night, so that might be an indication...

For what it's worth, we are at WDW for a 6-night trip and MK is closing early for 4 of those nights (3 for the MVMCP and 1 for the CM party). And neither of the 2 remaining nights are EMH, so the park is closing at 8pm and 9pm respectively. Not that we need to be there until midnight, but when it's your favorite park, you're paying to stay at an MK resort, and you book your trip nearly a year in advance, it does feel like a bummer.

They usually have a fireworks display for the party when it's at DHS but this is the first time it has been at MK so it might be different. I think maybe it was around 10pm last year, but don't quote me on that.

That's not true if you have a one day ticket. If you were unaware of the 4:30pm closing and were only there one day with a MK ticket my guess is you'd be pretty bummed.

I don't know about others but I don't buy a ticket to anything without confirming the hours. We did a last minute, one day visit to MK last year (first time visiting for me, first time as an adult for DH) and we certainly did check hours on the website before we bought our tickets online.

No doubt there will be some people who don't check in advance and are disappointed and angry but why should making those people happy matter more than giving the hard working employees a celebration once a year?

There are always people complaining because they didn't do the research. We have been to multiple Mcdonald's corp. events when they rent out a WDW park and encounter people downright angry at the cast members as they are being corralled out. Even though we have tickets to the private event, we have to exit the park and then wait for the private event to begin and that walk out is usually full of many people that did not check the hours. I know many of us here think that everyone is the big planner that we are, but I think there are more people unprepared than those that are prepared.

1) Probably, but a time has not been announced.
2) Fireworks for November 17 & 18 are not on the schedule at this time.

I totally understand people being disappointed. If you want to do a full day and see the evening shows, parade, and fireworks even if you have a flexible schedule and can do a different day, that day is going to be more crowded because of other people doing the same.

On the other hand, if you don't mind skipping the evening stuff, those party and early close days can be amazing for lower crowds.

1) Aw, c'mon folks.
2) As with ANY vacation, pleasure trip, or business trip, one must be flexible in their scheduling.
3) To me, there is NOTHING wrong with this.
4) After more than 4½-million air miles, I have learned to be flexible and to adjust plans.

Glad that works for you. Some people don't have all those air miles racked up so they can go back for a do-over.

I feel for the people visiting that week with more than half of the nights in the MK closing early.

We were there two years ago for the early MK closing, and it started storming at 3:00PM when we left, and it rained all day and night. I kinda felt sorry for those private party folks.

It does happen if someone rents out the park. I can't imagine how much that cost. But I had it happen when I worked there. Someone rented out the park so we all got off at 4.

I will be visiting WDW during this week. I did my research and looked up park times. BUT that doesn't mean that having Magic Kingdom's hours shortened 5 nights that week does suck big time! 4 Christmas parties and 1 special event. Leaves few nights to enjoy Magic Kingdom and on those few nights, it's gonna be packed. So even for the ones that do our research ahead of time....still leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

If it makes anyone feel any better, now that the MSEP is gone, there's not as much you are missing that week! ;)

Just kidding of course. We considered heading back to WDW this year instead of DLR, but stuck with DLR. All these early closings in the MK were one of the items on our list of considerations.

it's for the cast members i heard big celebration. someone i know celebrating 35 years with them is getting some type of honor. besides others too getting honored and whatnot

Not true. Times are also posted on the toll booths outside MK. You could choose to turn around at that point.
Again, "that's all after you've already purchased the MK-specific ticket, arrived there, and committed to doing that park." Turn around and go where? You purchased a MK ticket and it's good only there. How is that not true?

Dang, it's hard to be flexible in your scheduling when you have to make dinner reservations 180 days in advance. :D

If it's truly your only day that you can go to MK, you bought a MK ticket, and you did not know ahead of time about the early closing, then go to Guest Services and ask for a refund (calmly).

I noticed that MK is closing at 4:30 on Nov. 17th. I know it is the christmas party date but so is the 18th and on that day the park is closing at 7. Does anybody know?
