Yep I sure do agree, Toon is handling this amazingly well. He's one impressive human being.

Three cheers for the Toon:

Hip, Hip, Hooray
Hip, Hip, Hooray
HIP, HIP, HOORAY !!!

Now there's a guy that's certainly making lemonade out of lemons...I am in awe.

Where is he? Florida?

I can't believe how much he's accomplished in a few days. I think it would have taken me a few weeks to figure out that my kids could go somewhere else to school :rotfl: .

Gosh, it's just terrible. I've gotten so that I really don't even want to know anymore. And it really depresses me that people can be so corrupt that they had to stop search and rescue because of the violence and looters. So basically, you are killing people because you want some jeans. It's really appalling.

How's that for a pick-me-up on Friday morning? Sorry about that.

Well, I think our æ (Toon just does not seem fitting right now and he does seem to be attached ot this name) will have to change his tag line when he gets back. "Maturity Impaired" does not seem to fit him anymore. (perhaps it never did, but now there is proof otherwise.)

WIth no disrespect for the hurricane victims, I'd like to lighten things up for a moment. We've got caramel latte's and cinamon scones in the closet this morning. I'm celebrating only working a half day today and then packing up and taking off for the weekend.

I'm headed north camping. (Not really roughing it when there will be 2 very large 5th wheels in the immediate vicinity.) Monday will be our annual trek accross the Mackinaw Bridge. Joining, Mom, Dad, DB, DSIL, niece, 2 nephews, and 2 good familiy friends. They're really like family, except that we never get annoyed by them. ;)

Anyone else have plans for the holiday weekend?

Bless Toon and his family. I am so glad to hear how well he is doing! He is going to be in for a rough ride, but at the same time, I can just tell he is going to make it through! Way to go guy!!! :cheer2: We are all rooting for you!

Carrie - mmmmm I needed some breakfast. I haven't been hungry much lately (I think she is squishing my tummy), so I nibbled on some toast, but obviously, can't survive on that - thanks! We might go and see my Uncle and Grandmother (they live close to us in LaGrange, GA - about an hour away), but other than that, its going to be a house cleaning weekend. We have a few projects to do around the house - - poor hubby...right now "we" means mostly him. Be glad when little Miss Paula Jean shows up and I feel more like me again (you know - Wonder Woman, Super Mommy - what ever else those that worship me might call me :earboy2: )

My grandmother is in the very late stages of Alzheimers and we think she is finally "shutting down". Having trouble swallowing, etc now, so I want to go and see them as much as possible over the next few months. She was the most amazing lady - went back to school when my grandfather (who finally got his act together) was a binge drinker and would lose job after job. She raised my oldest uncle with downs syndrome and refused to let them put him in a home along with raising my mother and two other siblings. She taught special education for close to 35 years. My uncle that is her caretaker is the most amazing person as well and has really kept her comfy for some years now, but we all can tell she is slipping away. Its hard to say goodbye, but I feel lucky to have known her for so very long. (I am also glad she wasn't aware when my uncle with downs passed a few years ago and when my mother died although we missed her strength during those hard times.) If everyone doesn't mind, I think I have had about enough lately! My father's brother passing, this terrible storm and its aftermath, dealing with my grandmother and learning she is failing this week. So, if you need me, I am going to be hiding in the closet today! Tomorrow will be better - - - it just has to be! *hiding in the corner of the closet*

Diapers, spit up, frantic crying....and then there's still the baby to take care of.

Laura - How can we cheer you up. Shall I sing? :rolleyes1 I havea beautiful virtual voice. :teeth:

Here's a thought. Come to the closet, you can Be Our Guest:

Ma chere Mademoiselle, it is with deepest pride
and greatest pleasure that we welcome you tonight.
And now we invite you to relax, let us pull up a
chair as the dining room proudly presents - your dinner!
Be our guest!
Be our guest!
Put our service to the test
Tie your napkin 'round your neck, cherie
And we provide the rest
Soup du jour
Hot hors d'oeuvres
Why, we only live to serve
Try the grey stuff
It's delicious

Don't believe me? Ask the dishes
They can sing
They can dance
After all, Miss, this is France
And a dinner here is never second best
Go on, unfold your menu
Take a glance and then you'll
Be our guest
Oui, our guest
Be our guest

Beef ragout
Cheese souffle
Pie and pudding "en flambe"

We'll prepare and serve with flair
A culinary cabaret!
You're alone
And you're scared
But the banquet's all prepared
No one's gloomy or complaining
While the flatware's entertaining
We tell jokes
I do tricks
With my fellow candlesticks

Chorus:
And it's all in perfect taste
That you can bet
Come on and lift your glass
You've won your own free pass
To be out guest

If you're stressed
It's fine dining we suggest

Be our guest!
Be our guest!
Be our guest!

Life is so unnerving
For a servant who's not serving
He's not whole without a soul to wait upon
Ah, those good old days when we were useful
Suddenly those good old days are gone
Ten years we've been rusting
Needing so much more than dusting
Needing exercise, a chance to use our skills
Most days we just lay around the castle
Flabby, fat and lazy
You walked in and oops-a-daisy!

Be our guest!

Be our guest!

Mrs Potts:
It's a guest!
It's a guest!
Sakes alive, well I'll be blessed!
Wine's been poured and thank the Lord
I've had the napkins freshly pressed
With dessert
She'll want tea
And my dear that's fine with me
While the cups do their soft-shoein'
I'll be bubbling, I'll be brewing
I'll get warm
Piping hot
Heaven's sakes! Is that a spot?
Clean it up! We want the company impressed

Chorus:
We've got a lot to do!

Is it one lump or two?
For you, our guest!

Chorus:
She's our guest!

She's our guest!

Chorus:
She's our guest!
Be our guest! Be our guest! Be our guest!

Chorus:
Be our guest
Be our guest
Our command is your request
It's been years since we've had anybody here
And we're obsessed
With your meal
With your ease
Yes, indeed, we aim to please
While the candlelight's still glowing
Let us help you
We'll keep going
Course by course
One by one
'Til you shout, "Enough! I'm done!"
Then we'll sing you off to sleep as you digest
Tonight you'll prop your feet up
But for now, let's eat up
Be our guest!
Be our guest!
Be our guest!
Please, be our guest!

Better? Can you save me some of that pudding "en flambe?"

Oh Rash, you need some closet time too! Hope Laura saves us some dessert!

Much better! Thanks! (watch the eyebrows with that flambe stuff :earboy2: )

Rash - Evan have colic or simply just being a little guy growing into the big old world and wearing out Mom and Dad? I hope you all get some needed rest!

The latter (technically colic is inconsolable crying for more than 3 hours a day at least twice a week. Thankfully, he aint THAT bad.). He's MUCH more work than our daughter was. He's either eating, crying, or sleeping. Not a whole lot of calm awake time. I know once the positive feedback starts (smiling, laughing, etc.) it'll make things easier, but right now it's not fun. Not complaining though - just sharing and venting.

I didn't take it as "complaining" at all. I understand how there are moments when all new parents think "ummm what WAS I thinking" or "I can't do it..." no matter what "it" represents with a newborn. I had always heard that adding the 2nd was way more than twice the work and when we had our 2nd son I soooooooo believe it! Oh yes - this from the woman that decided she wanted another one...so soon to be 3 - and already looking at my very active, healthy and happy sons and thinking "what WAS I thinking" lol  I also figure that my boys were actually pretty darn easy when they were small, so this little girl is PROBABLY going to give me fits lol (one son was the major spit up king - well - spit up might not even describe it well.. *bleeck* the other son is having allergy issues so he is the king of other icky things right now. I tell them often they better be glad they are so darn cute! :earboy2: )

Hang in there and come hide in the closet for a bit. Carrie is making flaming things, so it ought to get interesting!

:teeth:

Yea, I know, and thanks. It's just that considering current events, I didn't want my petty ranting to mistakenly indicate any lack of perspective on my part.

Typo or Horsean slip? :teeth:

You guys all take care and try to do something happy this weekend. We could al use a little pick-me-up (or a big one if you're a horse). :earboy2:

Rash -- When DS was a newborn, he would cry all the time. I was nursing him but my doctor suggested I supplement with a formula that was lactose free. I was amazed at the difference in his disposition. I know everyone's circumstances are different...just posted to let you know there is hope!

Laura -- I think you have been through enough as well. That's what life is like, sadness and sorrow, and then...Paula Jean! It's definitely a system that seems unbalanced at times, but in the end...everything is pretty darn good. :goodvibes

Carrie -- Lattes and scones. Start unlocking the latches on the closet door...I'm coming in!!!

As far as Katrina, I think it is a desparate situation that is only going to get worse as more people are trapped in the city without immediate evacuation. All we can do is pray for them and hope more help is on the way. I had to stop watching the news as I was getting anxiety over the whole situation. Don't want to bury my head in the sand...but I just had to take a little break to contemplate on what I might be able to do to help.

OK now...

We better find our way back to the smiley side of the road or else I am going to have to sing the Move It Move It song again.

(as if I have gotten that song out of my mind in the last 48 hours anyway! ha! :earboy2: )

All right. I don't really feel quite like this, but since I posted so depressingly before, here goes. No guarantees, and please, be kind for the attempt.

A bridebroom is soon to be wed to her groombroom. She goes to him, and says, "I think we are expecting a little wiskbroom!", and he says, "How can that be? We haven't even swept together yet!"

Ba dum dum, ching!

Okay, that's my attempt. Make of it what you will. :flower:
