All right. I don't really feel quite like this, but since I posted so depressingly before, here goes. No guarantees, and please, be kind for the attempt.

A bridebroom is soon to be wed to her groombroom. She goes to him, and says, "I think we are expecting a little wiskbroom!", and he says, "How can that be? We haven't even swept together yet!"

Ba dum dum, ching!

Okay, that's my attempt. Make of it what you will. :flower:

bwhahah - I can make a brooch or a hat.... (sorry - some Airplane humor :rotfl: )

Gopherit - I know I know....but my mother would say I never learned things the easy way :earboy2: Its really great though. My 3 year old is a singer. he sings ALL the time and he is so cute when he bounces and bobs singing "like to move it move it"  (he actually dances a lot like the banana :rotfl2: )

We just watched "The High and the Mighty" which was a John Wayne film, winning many awards, that was apparently one of the main films Airplane was based on. It's not supposed to be funny, but my dh and I laughed through the whole thing. It was just so obvious that Airplane spoofed the movie, and we couldn't seperate the two. And, man, has movie making changed. Just hilarious, although not supposed to be in any way.

Here's my contribution towards the wkend.... Have a good one, gang. :cool1:

The Nothing Thread - Closet Keeper's Song...

Ma chere Mademoiselle (or sir!) it is with deepest pride
and greatest pleasure that we welcome you tonight!
And now we invite you to relax, let us move aside some coats,
As the closet proudly presents - your es-cah-pay!

Be our guest!
Be our guest!
Put our service to the test
A lime green napkin for you lap, cherie
And we'll provide the rest
Cinnamon scones,
Hot latte,
Let it wash your cares away!
Try some Yuengling,
Great, of course!
Don't believe me? Ask the horse!
You can sing,
You can eat,
And the company can't be beat!
And time spent here is never second best!
Go on, unlock the door,
We've got a lot in store
For you, our guest
Oui, our guest
Be our guest!

Beef Ragout,
Cheese souffle
Pie and pudding "en flambe"

We'll prepare and serve with flair
A closetary cabaret!
You're not alone
Don't be scared,
Our cloakroom feast is all prepared!
No one's gloomy or complaining
And our threads are entertaining!
Type a line,
And click "send"
To reach a fellow DISer friend -

Chorus:
(Please make it in good taste
Or you'll be banned!)

Come on and lift your mug,
And don't trip o'er the rug...
Come be our guest!

If you're stressed
It's the closet we suggest!

Be our guest!
Be our guest!
Be our guest!

Life is so unnerving
When your server isn't serving...
You can bet without the ‘net your life is poor...
Ah, but when you're connected to the DISboards,
Suddenly you've got friends galore!
One minute to post a thread,
Ten more to read what others said,
It's good exercise, it hones your typing skills!
Who cares if we get any work accomplished...
Grab some coffee or a beer,
It’s ALL good stuff in HERE!

Be our guest!

Be our guest!

It's a guest!
It's a guest!
As our kibble we digest…
Brew's been poured (and thank the Lord
We’ve got lots more where that was stored…)

Have dessert, have some tea,
When it’s virtual, it’s FREE!
While our lives can be so taxin’ -
Let’s hit the closet for some relaxin’!

Moderators
Sometimes we shock…
Heaven's sakes! Is that a lock?
Apologize or we’ll lose our “Nothing” thread!

Chorus:
We must protect this place
Where all our cares erase

Come be our guest!

Chorus:
Be our guest!

Be our guest!

Chorus:
Be our guest!
Be our guest! Be our guest! Be our guest!

Chorus:
Be our guest
Be our guest
Our command is your request
It's high time we took a break from life
Before we get depressed!
C’mon in,
It may be tight,
But you’ll find it quite alright
While to the darkness you’re adjusting,
Let us help you,
Just be trusting!

Bite by byte…
We’ll help you out!
'Til you shout, "I’m loggin’ out!"
If you want to, grab a coat and take a nap!
Who could ask for more?
Open our closet door
And be our guest!
Be our guest!
Be our guest!
Please, be our guest!

That was TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!

You rule Gopherit! :worship:

I do hope everyone has a good weekend! You guys really keep me going so many days! Thanks!

Laura

Lisa - Where are you in Alabama exactly? (errr - well not exactly if you don't want to say but what area?) I guess my pregnant brain just now plotted you on my DVC friends map in my head.

My mother's family is from all over Alabama (they lived in Sylacauga and Alec City mostly) and part of hubby's family is in Cullman.

Sorry that I can't match Carrie's breakfast style, but I do have fresh coffee, poptarts and bananas for anyone that wants some!

Morning!

I have family in Alabama as well (Huntsville area) and lots of friends and former co-workers in the Hartselle/Decatur area. Used to visit almost yearly but haven't been now for over four years.

Here's a burning question (no pun intended!): How many people actually put PopTarts in the toaster? For the most part, my family just grabs them out of the box and considers them a "to go" meal.

For my crazy kids, neither - since they don't like POP TARTS!!! ack! I am thinking of disowning them!

For myself, I toast them if I am at home, but most often just use them as a "grab and dash" food. (I eat about two pop tarts a month lol so not a lot of pop tart consumption at my house really).

I have been weak enough on occassion to scarf down a "raw" Pop Tart -- but I truly believe (as do my progeny) that the chemical make-up of the Kellogg Pop Tart is transformed into a far greater, more savory thing when exposed to some incadescent wires until slightly golden in hue.

In contrast, I think the recent advertisements to freeze them and eat them as a frozen treat are warped and twisted.

Favorite Tart flavor in this house?

DS 10 loves CHocolate chip cookie dough.
DS 9 and DH will only eat brown sugar/cinnamon.
DD is not a big tart fan, but will eat either of the above.
My fave: French Toast. But a good strawberry one sometimes hits the spot.

ANd we're purists here -- gotta be Kellogg. :teeth:

I agree...the generic brands never quite hit the spot !!!

As for freezing them, that's just plain nasty. :scared1:

Where's everybody at today? Are we the only ones that didn't make plans for the long weekend?

Yup, it's pretty lonely here, LOL!

My "exciting" Labor Day wkend thus far has consisted of grocery shopping, feeding my kids (and a few neighbors' kids as well... ), then a pig roast at a friend's house, then a high school football game.

Tomorrow - the scintillation continues with church, and then I'll take the kids swimming while DH attends his fantasy football league draft with his buds, then we'll all watch Virginia Tech football on TV in the den over a pizza and sodas in the evening. (Jealous yet?)

No plans for Monday yet, other than maybe sleeping late and eating pancakes (a request from the kids!)

NOW.... as pitiful as that all sounds, I have to say... the weather here is awesome all weekend, we're all fine and dandy, and we have nothing pressing to do but spend time together. In the wake of a week filled with all the news of so much disaster and loss, somehow, having a plain ol' peanut-butter-and-jelly middle America Mom and Apple Pie let's lie in the grass and count the stars weekend sounds PRETTY DARN GOOD. :)

Morning!

Sorry, Laura! I didn't see this post until this morning :confused3 I had to work yesterday :(

I am in the Inverness part (near Hwy 280) of Birmingham, AL. I have lived in Birmingham for the past 18 years, we love it here :goodvibes I was a military brat growing up all over, but my family landed permanently in Montgomery, AL when my older sis got married and had a baby :grouphug:

I remarried seven years ago to my great DH, Rick  He is from Holly Pond near Cullman and he has lived in Hartselle. We visit there often to his DM, DF, DB, Dsis-in-law and Dnephew who is 2 pirate: As you can see, I've got a lot of Alabama covered too. To round it all out, my baby sister got her masters in teaching and moved to Atlanta :moped: She just began her third year and loves it in your beloved city of Atlanta :cloud9:

As for poptarts, my wonderful mom raised us on poptarts :teeth: We could toast them, yum, from an early age since she was not an early riser. Therefore, I had to introduce them to my boys! They go through phases of eating a bunch or almost not at all. Their current faves are Smores, but they also like Brown sugar cinnamon(my fave), frosted cherry, and frosted blueberry!

My breakfast is usually Special K and coffee, boring, I know!! At least the coffee is special; I bought several bags of Easter Brew from my local World Market and I 'm still drinking it. It is a subtle Chocolate Orange flavor, yummy! Good morning, y'all!

mmmmmmmm Nothing like a good cup of coffee! I have tried to not drink too much of anything except for water (and some occasional juice) while expecting. I will lighten up a bit once she is here, but still have to be cautious while breastfeeding her.

We have TONS of relatives in Birmingham as well. My great uncle worked and taught for years at UAB. Several of my grandmother's family still lives there (it just didn't cross my mind yesterday lol gawd - this is why I need more COFFEE!!! lol)

Calypso and Gopherit - your weekend plans probably match ours. I am pretty much beyond "traveling" so the furthest we are going is to my grandparents house tomorrow in LaGrange, GA (about an hour away from home). Other than that, I worked yesterday from home (my connection works great and will help me to extend my maternity leave as long as I feel necessary :cheer2: ) while the kiddies played. They went to see Herbie again last night (I do love the dollar movies!). Today is house cleaning day, but I am pooped already...poor hubby is going to end up doing a LOT of cleaning. Tomorrow, like I said, burgers on the grill with my Uncle and a chance to visit with my grandmother. She doesn't know us (hasn't for a long time) but I like sitting with her and holding her hand and talking to her. Hopefully, we will find time to see Pop while we are there too. He is in a nursing home in LaGrange, happy as a pig in a poke (which is nice - its so hard when you can't really take care of everyone the way you would like). So lots of visiting tomorrow!

So, the lllovell family is doing a big bunch of nadda this holiday weekend as well. I was just looking in the "nursery" and its kinda a mess, but I think I can get it ship shape in an hour or so today :) and will feel better once that is done. Of course, I need to go and get the babybed (in my parent's attic) and put the toddler bed up. Don't think little Paula Jean will be sleeping in that toddler bed any time soon :earboy2: (I have a bassinet in my room ready for her first few months - so technically....its all good :) )

Have a great rest of the weekend everyone!

My weekend has been filled with last minute back-to-school stuff (we start on Tuesday). I am very active with our PTA and it's my job to plan several meals for the staff during the first week of school. We usually bring in a mobile espresso cart, breakfast, and lunch the first day and then throw in some surprises over the next few days. It gets a bit overwhelming at times but it's really appreciated by the teachers and volunteers.

The other project I am working on is searching high and low for the perfect bra for preteen daughter. She suddenly announced that the sports bras she currently has are not "real" bras. So, the challenge is finding one that is acceptable...can't be itchy, needs padding (which is really what she wants, but won't fess up to), and has to be pretty -- but not sleezy (which is what I want, and will fess up to!). Let me tell you, we have tried on just about every bra in the city and have not been successful yet. See what you've got to look forward to (LOL)!

Well. good morning, fellow Nothing'ers! It looks like someone thought we needed a bit more change. I, for one, usually like to leave things unchanged :rolleyes1 At least, I am subscribed already; I almost never visit the community board...oh well, maybe I will start.

I am having Christmas Blend coffee this morning; I call it yummy blend the rest of the year! I buy a lot of this too and I am about to run out :earseek: Have a great Labor Day everyone :grouphug:
