Not to rain on everyone's 40% off parade... but....

The only time I have ever received an e-mail confirmation is when I book online. If I book through the 407-wdisney number, I get a hard copy confirmation in the mail.

Thank you!

You guys knew you took a risk, when asking other DIS members if they would PM their code to you.

If you lose the discount, then you cant blame Disney, but yourself for trying to "cheat" the system.

Some people who has received the code with a pin number, but havnt booked yet, might not get a room because of people who "cheat" the system.

Btw. flame away, i can take it! :)

Not going to flame you, but rather ask a question...

Do you think those who flat out informed the CM that they did not have a PIN cheated? They, IMO, were honest & upfront, so I don't know how that would be cheating?

What about me? I didn't supply any code to my CM. He found a discount. It is giving me about 40%--he never mentioned what it was. I haven't received printed documentation to see if it is there. Did I cheat?

If they don't see this as a problem, then shame on them.

As I've said many times, I have NO problems with people getting discounts who have these pins or codes. I don't agree that not everyone gets them, but that's Disney's business - So be it.

What I do have a serious problem with, is so many people who don't have pins getting the discount, while others (myself included) are being denied. THAT is not fair, and yes, that is a problem. There's no 2 sides to it. That's not good business.

I agree with you to a certain extent. If it is indeed a PIN code & they are allowing those without PINs to book it, then anyone should be allowed. Fair for one & all. I can't help but wonder if those who are being allowed to use "the code" are allowed to for "some" reason.... pin they don't know about or maybe a targeted area or something...I have no idea. It is all so messed up, I guess.

Either way... we are going back to Disney and that makes me happy. I am going to start focusing on the positive in life. I don't need any more gray hair!

I was told by three different CM's that the code is a general code and that anyone can use it (was told this last week when I called back twice to confirm what I booked, just in case). So why would I think I was cheating the sytem. I was told by multiple Disney employees that anyone could use this code. I realize many people have been told other things from CM's, but why should those of us who were told the code was a general code by Disney be accused of cheating the system.

I'd like to pose a question to the people who think people are "cheating" the system in someway. If you were to go into a major department store and knew they were having a sale (20,30 or 40% off) and you did not have a coupon, would you ask for one? Better yet, if the clerk offered to give you the % off would you then say, no I won't take it because I didn't get one in the mail? Think about how ridiculous this is, of course you would take the %off to save money.

I was one of the lucky ones that received the card, but I have no issue with people trying to save a little on their vacation. In no way do I think people are cheating (I think that is a little harsh). How often do the people on these boards travel to Disney without any discount whatsoever? How many people do you think received those cards and immediately ripped them up and threw them in the trash? I highly doubt Disney is taking a loss on booking a night at the GF for $320 vs. $445. If it was that big of an issue and they knew people were "cheating the system," they would have put a stop to the bookings already.

Here is what I got off the official WDW site about the WWOD (Wonderful weeks of Disney) promo.

Great Resort Rates

During some of the Wonderful Weeks of Disney, rates for great Disney Resorts are among the lowest of the year. The rates may be more affordable, and the selection of rooms may be wider as well. Availability during weekdays is usually even better than on weekends. It's still not too late to get a magical Resort room at a magical price!

So It does not specificly say there is a discount code, but it does say MAY BE MORE AFFORDABLE!!

So maybe when you ask and your dates fall into those weeks you get the discount??

I told the CM that I did not have a PIN CODE, but I did have a 3 letter code and asked about the WWOD promo. She said sure that will work and booked my room only rate at 40% off!

It is like the lady at JC Penney letting me use her coupon at the check out! I LIKE IT!:goodvibes

Amen to that sister!

I have no idea if Disney is indead running a program to find out who booked the code w/o a valid PIN (as has been reported on various threads) but if they are doing this then why haven't they done something to stop the CM's from continuing to book and tell people there is no PIN required? As of 10 minutes ago people are still reporting being able to book without a PIN. I really think those that have been fortunate enough to receive the discount had something tied to their names in Disney's database....we'll see - but I think to call people cheaters is a bit harsh. I was offered the discount, I asked if it required a PIN, was told no so I booked it. Was I supposed to decline the deal because some of my Dis friends were told they weren't eligible? I'm not saying how they market these discounts is fair - I'm just saying to label everyone as cheaters is a bit over the top.

Just my two cents...:)

BABYJOSIE98 --you might just be right. I really have to think that people who are getting this discount w/out a postcard MUST have something else going for them-be it dates of travel, location, prior visits... something.

Personally, my favorite is the WWOD idea! Or YOAMD!

I agree! I have made a half dozen calls in the last week trying to get any of these codes offering several different dates for Nov or Dec for several different resorts and have been told no every time. I'm happy for all of those that have been able to get the codes to work, but wonder if it's a general code why can't the rest of us get it and if it's a general code why aren't any of the official sites publishing it (like Mousesavers). I've been told every time I call that it's a pin code and I don't qualify for it.

I haven't (and wouldn't) but can't help but wonder if people like me and boomhauer, who haven't been able to get it might not be complaining to Disney about the unfairness of it. Don't get me wrong I'm still hoping for an AP discount for my early May trip and was able to use the Bounce Back program for free dining in late Sept, so I'm going to WDW. However, I still want a code in order to book another trip for Nov or Dec. Am I greedy? Maybe, but if others (without a PIN) can get 40% off their rooms for that time why can't everyone?

You can get either one if you call the DRC.

They are suppose to ask you would you prefer to be emailed the confirmation or mail it.

Disney is trying to get more guests to select the email notification, to cut costs and give the guest the confirmation within hours. Also if any modifications are needed, that saves them from having to mail out another one.

This is sounding more & more like a public code.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Just to clarify, I did not receive a PIN# NOR did I try to book without it so I could care less either way, however, what is the big deal with people trying to use the discount in order to try to save $ just like everyone else.

I bet the majority of us have "borrowed" coupons while in a store from another customer to try to save a buck, eventhough we were never mailed one.

What bugs me the most is how there is no rhyme or reason as to how these discounts are given out. If there was more of a method behind this madness maybe I could understand, but Disney just sends these emails out a random even to people homes under names of deceased parents(yes there was actually a thread about this a few days ago). I just think it is bizarre!!!!

aubriee & boomhauer--can I ask what dates you have tried?

I can say from first hand experience that Disney can cancel, change and/or "play" with your confirmed ressies. They are not worried about the "bad PR" or "mass cancelations". And just because you have a paper confirmation may not mean diddly to Disney.
They have it worded on the confirmation that they can cancel at any time(something to that effect).
If someone says Disney is reviewing all ressies-there is a good possibility that Disney is already on the review process. They may have a team start making phone calls to "help" you remake your ressie at the adjusted/correct rate.
Disney also has used the DIS board threads/replies as "ammunition" against certain people in correspondence with the State of Florida Dept. of Agriculture.
Yes, Disney obtained a "very loooong" thread and linked certain people to a certain deal/offer. They(Disney) also made some very inaccurate statements to the Dept. of Agriculture about these people and about how they(Disney) supposedly tried to handle it.
Not trying to rain anyone out, just putting my 2cents in.

Hi peanut Butter! Sorry that's what I always thought when I saw your username.. :) Yes folks, PB is right, and Disney is probably reading this as we speak. All I can say is shhhhhhhhhh :ssst: Disney is not the magical place I once thought, they do not honor their mistakes!

December 9-16.

I was told no because I didn't have a pin and it is not a general discount code.

Did you try a different CM? Maybe the CMs in the wrong are the ones that won't even look because they assume it needs a PIN. We've heard from a lot of CM's (and some supervisors) that say you don't need a PIN - why are we assuming they are the ones that are incorrect.

Phooey! I never received an email confirmation... :confused3

BTW, I am getting a discount but didn't ask for or mention "the code." The CM dug a discount up for me that does give me 40% off. I will be very upset if I get harrassed for this when it was no doing of mine!

Sorry, not email confirmation. Online confirmation. It's all listed on the Disney website when I put in my Confirmation # and phone #. Did you check yours that way?

aubriee & boomhauer--can I ask what dates you have tried?

I don't want to be there Thanksgiving or the week of Christmas, but otherwise I told them I was flexible for anytime in Nov or Dec. Every time I've called I've been told the exact same thing. This is a pin code and if you didn't receive a postcard or an Email for it, you don't qualify. I've been asked several times where I got the three letter codes and have told the CM either someone told me about them or I read about them on the internet. They have supposedly checked my profile and say I don't have a pin attached to it, so again can't use the codes I give them. I've also been told that anyone who does try to use one of these codes that doesn't have the pin attached to their profile will not have it honored. If I could just get a CM to book it at 40% off I'd take my chances and be willing to pay rack rate at check in, if I had to. Then again I have an AP and if an AP code was to come out I'd probably go with it instead (even if the discount is less) in order to be on the safe side.

I am happy for everyone that was able to book using the 40% code, but also wonder if with all the rooms that were booked using it, if maybe Disney may decide to not offer AP rates now? One of the CMs I spoke with said that she thought AP rates would be out in mid Feb for my early May trip, but then said she didn't know if Disney would need to offer any AP discounts for the rest of the year with all the other discounts they were offering. I don't believe an AP discount could beat the 40% off deal anyway. I have a feeling there might be alot of very unhappy AP holders come this fall and winter. I know, I for one am debating on renewing my AP or not.

I've spoken with 7 different CM's and 1 supervisor.

They all told me the same thing. Obviously, I have really bad luck.

This whole thing is making me sick. Is Disney lying to us, are these CM's just plain stupid, or do they just not care?

What in the world is going on????

We go to Disney to be HAPPY  There is so much negativity on this board that it's sapping all the fun out of it.

To those calling people cheaters -- pls lighten up -- no one is cheating. The store coupon analogy is perfect. At most department stores, all you have to do is go up to customer service and tell them you didn't get a coupon and they will give you one. Yes, you do have to make the effort to find customer service in whatever dark hallway they've hidden it in, and those not willing to make the trip won't get the discount. Or, maybe they will! Maybe some nice cashier has a coupon at her register that she'll apply. It's all legal -- none of it is cheating. Companies bank on the fact that some people will pay full price to make up for the others who get a discount. Not everyone is willing to make the trek back to customer service to ask, and not everyone even knows there's a sale.

A LOT of people have been told, very specifically, by CMs that this is not a pin situation, or that there are different discounts, some requiring a pin, some not. I have to believe that those who are repeatedly denied, it's because of the dates/locations requested or the stubborness not to ask for the discount. Most likely, Disney has set aside a certain number of rooms -- just like the airlines do. And for those who are getting the codes and are worried that their rooms might be taken -- what are you waiting for? Discounted rooms go fast.

Back to my original point, though -- does anyone still believe in the Magic that is Disney??? Couldn't these discounts be part of the YOAMD? And those lucky folks who did receive a pin number -- maybe they have special rooms on hold waiting for you, or you may receive other perks when you get there. We just don't know.

Have a little faith, people. And try to play nice.

JMHO
