We just got back last week. We spent NYE at DL this year. We were so excited to go during the holidays, because we have never been during that time of year. It was beautiful, I have to say!
The weather was horrible half of the time we were there! I thought I was back in Oregon!
It was kind of a last minute trip. I only had about a month to plan it. I got pretty good airfare for six, after wheeling and dealing. My brother and his two sons went with.
We stayed at the Castle Inn & Suites, because it was one of the few things available that would house six people (first & second mistake!) Love my brother, but will never do that again! He snored each and every one of the 5 nights! I wanted to smother him with a pillow by the end! I was so tired by the end of our vaca!
My son was sick with a cold and spent part of the time at the hotel, because it was so cold and wet outside!
Well, we always tell ourselves "We don't spend much time in the room. Why does it matter where we stay?"
When you have to spend a lot of time in the room unexpectedly, it does matter! Did I mention that I would not recommend the Castle!
We knew it was not going to be the DLH., which had no availability anyway!
I will say the staff was very pleasant. I will give them that!
The rooms were so-so. It was the herd of elephants up above us that was really annoying. They sounded like they were coming through the floor constantly. All hours of the day and night! We complained 4 times. It never changed.
The shower barely had any water coming out of it, so I had to wash my long curly hair hunched over the tub. It was the only way I could get the soap and conditioner out.
The last night we were there, we came home to our bathroom flooded and our things sopping wet that were in there. The herd up above got us back for complaining!
We had to move everything 2:00am. Not exactly in our plans!
When we checked out, the person at the desk was kind of confused why we had two rooms, so I explained. He apologized.
The only good thing about that place is that I was able to wash my hair in the shower for the first time.
I realized it was just our previous room that had the bad shower. I also, explained that to him. He apologized, once again.
I can tell you, that I will never stay there again! Some words of advice "Pay the extra money and get a decent place!"
Even though, it was crowded and things didn't go quite right, we still had a good time! After all, we were at the "Happiest Place on Earth"
