Not so 'sweet' (except candy) 16 birthday ideas?

I have a not so sweet DD who will be turning 16 soon:scared1:, and need some budget friendly ideas for how to keep a bunch (35-40) of teenagers busy - OUTSIDE - and occupied, and suggestions of maybe little trinkets to give out. DD is by far NOT a girly girl. She would much rather be riding her 4-wheeler through mud puddles than even thinking of going to a dance or putting on a dress of any kind;).
She's having friends over, and we're cooking the food, and having a little campfire and such, but what are some other ideas. Bobbing for apples is a MUST (don't ask, these kids have been together for some 6-10yrs and ALL their parties they ALWAYS bob for apples) but am looking for other suggestions, too, please!:goodvibes
Was thinking of doing some personalized M&M's, as possibly the only 'trinket' to give out as party favor, as they can get expensive, and DD LOVES her candy, and I'm pretty sure it will be a hit with her friends. But, I also am open to other suggestions.
Mind you, another one of those who has 'lost their jobs' (DH and I both). I do have another one, but DH is still unemployed. We are comfortable, don't live beyond means, but don't have a lot of extra, but promised DD a cook-out of sorts for her 16th, and DH is all for it.
So any and all suggestions for non-girly girl ideas would be much appreciated!:cheer2::cheer2:

Several teams, they must do a mummy wrap with toilet paper. Vote on the best one at the end.

Two teams, each team in a line, put a spoon on a string, they must pass/put/fish the spoon down the first person (inside shirt/pants), then back up the next person (pants then shirt), continue up and down the line, until the spoon reaches the last person. (it gets interersting as the spoon could be cold)

And I assume you have seen the candy buffet idea on here? If not search for it, it is awesome for ideas.

My friend had a "Survivor" themed 16th birthday.
They had to do weird challenges and eat weird things (like mustard and chocolate), and at the end of the night the winner got a prize.

I was just coming over to suggest a Survivor or Fear Factor theme. Scavenger hunts are always fun, too. I have always thought an outdoor "drive in movie" type of party would be a blast. Rent an lcd projector (or find someone that would loan you one). String up a big white sheet. Watch her favorite movie. Throw blankets on the ground for seats.

I love the ideas mentioned above.
For my DD's 16th bday, we had 16 friends sleep over. We had scary movie night, fashion show (this might sound like a little kid thing-but it was hilarious to see all the guys dressed in girls dresses with make-up and the girls dressed as guys: many funny cell phone pics on facebook) I also made a midnight munchie bar with pizzas, mozz stix, chix tenders, nachos etc.
For the take home "gift", I went to the local candy store and ordered chocolate pop bars that were shaped like flowers (my DD is a girly girl) that said happy sweet 16. I know your DD is not girly, but the place we went to had hundreds of chocolate molds.

I'm not much of a girly-girl either, so even though I am waaaay past 16, I think your idea of a party for her would be a total blast. I love the M&M's idea as a giveaway, and I really think that's all you would need. Maybe a homemade cd of her favorite songs? You can get a pack of cd's cheap and if she already has downloaded music or cds, you already have the music. That's a super cheap goodie!

She loves the idea of the outdoor movie.. But, now.. where can I find one of these to rent? :confused3

If you know of anyone that has a projector (maybe borrow one from school if you have good contacts there??) Hang a white sheet someplace (if you have a deck that works great). You don't need to pay anything for that. You hook up a laptop to the projector and play the movie. Many companies have projectors too so you might just ask around if anyone has one that you can use.

You could do a scavenger hunt if you are in an area where that would work. For DS's 16th last summer the kids mostly hung out in the back yard and played hide and seek, ghosts in the graveyard and kick the can!
