Not ROFR thread - general discussion

, were you able to remain firmly in that camp even after trying one/two bedrooms?
We mix back and forth. Our style is mostly short trips/park warrior with “time awake in room” maybe 30 minutes in the AM, 30-60 mid-day between parks, and 30min at night (for kids) and 90m (adults). We love the villas for the fridge, washer/dryer, and soaking tub but can live without out on a 4 day or less trip…more than 4 days and we want to be in a villa.
I’m already being asked to bring school friends on these trips - far earlier than I expected - so part of me wonders if I should just admit defeat now. 🤣😭😎
Do you drive or fly? We let kids occasionally bring friends to our local park (DLR) for a day, but even if you have space in your room, the extra park tickets, food, LLs, flights, all add up to at least an extra $1000 per guest.

Ultimately I think it’s about tradeoffs — do you want to take fewer more luxurious/comfortable trips or more trips on studios? The answer will vary by family.

I like the idea of having a 4-day threshold for the studio vs one bedroom…although all of our trips are usually a week + so I guess I have my answer 🤣

The other challenge is that I’ve been working remotely for a few days on our longer stays and have found that having the door to the bedroom for work has been invaluable - both for me and DD.

We fly to WDW so yep bringing a friend will definitely add to our costs - I was budgeting $1500 all in. 😬

We bought into DVC after our first 1 br villa stay at a DVC resort. Our son had just hit preteen years and we could see where the added privacy and space was going to be the way to travel. We only utilize studios on short stays now or couples trips.

Non-DVC, just Disney: Anyone seen Hoppers yet? I thought it was fantastic. Pixar hit it out of the park with this one.
Omg we literally just got out of it, both my wife and I cried, no spoilers here but what a great message and I hope people take something from it and def relevant to the times! I hope there's another one!

So if we want a thread for DVC people to just chat we have to go to the other section of the board?

There is a Communty Board that can be used. We have specific resort threads too.

But the DVC threads are specifically designed for those to discuss things related to DVC.

I do tend to allow some off topic conversations to go on more than some do in other forums, but the discussions should relate to DVC in some way and not just that the posters are DVC owners.

To add, the original purpose of this thread was to keep questions and comments that get the ROFR thread way off topic to make it easier for thst thread to be managed and useful for those looking at it for what is happening with the buying and selling of contracts by the DISboard community.

Sad. Many DVC people don’t venture into that area of the boards and don’t want to. Maybe some have complained about threads going off topic and that is unfortunate. But just my opinion and you guys decide what rules to enforce. I really do not see why there can’t be a thread for DVC people to chat in this area. If those who dislike banter or chatting they can just not look at that thread. Again just my opinion and I’ll leave it at that.

I think a DVCer Chit-Chat thread would be nice since I do feel like the DVC community is kind of its own "thing" compared to just the regular community board.

Some of the Resort Specific threads turn into non-DVC chit chat which I think is way more of a problem than a completely separate thread for such topics. I rarely even pop into one of the resort ones anymore because of that reason. I feel like I can't comfortably talk hotel stuff when people in the thread are chatting about their personal lives. Like if someone mentions a relative dying, how the heck do I politely ask a resort question after that?!

exactly. I have the same issue. Resort thread became a chatter thread and lost it's focus/meaning in my opinion.

I thought that’s what this thread was…. maybe if it is in the Miscellaneous section….
