Not ROFR thread - general discussion

I suspect this is at least partly an offshoot of the K-shaped economy. People who own DVC are a lot more likely to be in the "upper arm" of the K, so they are probably doing Just Fine, Thanks. Even with the Dues coming in, they take a look at their brokerage statement, see Number Go Up, and think "cool."

Never mind that Number doesn't always Go Up....we've had a sideways market for a quarter now, and I am not particularly optimistic about the next year or two. So, if you are looking for a bargain, just hang on. They may be coming.

I agree with the K shaped economy but suspect not everyone in DVC is in the right hand side of the K. And also think we are in for some rough times economically that haven’t been fully realized yet.
Agree. But also it’s currently somewhat easy to rent well above dues, so with Disney parks staying crowded, there may be less pressure to sell, especially with DVC prices lagging historical trends by a lot.

Ok, everyone - my last minute decision to visit WDW for a ‘few days’ over July 4th is turning into a very point heavy week-long split stay in 1 bedrooms at BWV and BLT Theme Park.

I’m rationalizing this as it’s a one-time exception, huge holiday splurge, needing laundry after our cruise, blah blah blah but I’m growing very concerned there will be no going back to studios after this stay 😬 😬

My daughter has been begging me to stay at BLT and I figure go big or go home…but something tells me this trip will turn very expensive (more points) very quickly.

For those of you who went into DVC as studio-only families, were you able to remain firmly in that camp even after trying one/two bedrooms?

I’m already being asked to bring school friends on these trips - far earlier than I expected - so part of me wonders if I should just admit defeat now. 🤣😭😎

there is no going back to studios after. it’s a totally different vacation.

studio is a hotel room replacement

1 bedroom is like a home at disney

Sadly no. We can do studios now at DLR but I can’t imagine studios at WDW. Mainly because of laundry and it always being a longer stay than DLR.

I looked at the point cost for a possible spring break trip next year and it will likely be in the highest point season and a nearly 30 to 40% increase in points than spring break this year… No Walt Disney World for us in 2027….

Also, we just tried doing two studios as opposed to a one bedroom or two bedroom and everyone in my family told me that if we have to stay in Studios again, they’d rather just not go.

The space, the extra bathrooms, the communal living room, the kitchen the laundry. It’s just a completely different experience.

Ouch - I hadn’t looked at spring break 2027 yet - but I’m in the same boat. Our spring break doesn’t float with Easter but will coincide next year - 234 pts for a VGF studio is nuts let alone the one bedroom…
we may be back at the Swan sooner than anticipated.

If we didn’t already need the Incredipass for December, it would be a hard no…

Welcome to the Easter spring break club. Sounds like some of you get a spring break that is only sometimes Easter week - I envy you. I am cursed/blessed to live in a part of the country that has decided spring break will ALWAYS be the week leading up to Easter.

I had a good run for a few years but now completely feel your pain. We already visit the last week of the year - having to handle Week 52 + Easter annually is too much…even for me…which is saying a lot!

Yeah, this happened to me this year. I was super annoyed because I wanted to do Aulani for spring break because it was very reasonable for 2025. But no…not this year. Looks like next year our Easter and spring break are messed up again. Let’s hope 2028 puts them in different times.
