Not ready yet???!!! A February trip report! Update 10/25 Day 9

Happy Easter, Karin and Tom! Any special traditions you celebrate? (As much as I love reading your trip reports, I also love hearing about your life in Austria. :lovestruc )

Those Krispy Cremes look sooooo good !!!

They ARE sooooooo good! We had LOADS of them in February and I am still craving some more! :rotfl2:

You're off, Wednesday, too? So jealous! We're back first thing Monday morning! I hate having to go back the next day after a holiday, but there isn't much to do about it!

EMHs were so much fun! And I truly LOVE BTMRR...its my favorite ride.

You got such beautiful shots of the resort...and I wonder if we see you? :rotfl:

No, unfortunately we go back to school on Wednesday, but don't worry there are lots of days off in the near future! The first one being May 4th (and May 3rd is my day off! :rotfl2:) - I love it!

I wonder too, if you were by the pool with your mum? We'll see soon ....... maybe even today! :rotfl2:

I missed two updates! :scared1:

I love MK EMH! They're so much fun. Every ride is a walk-on!

Great that you got to ride BTMRR 4 times! :thumbsup2

I love the drawings that the CM's do on the pavement! They're so talented!

CSR is SO pretty! I cannot wait to stay there in August! :yay:

Late EMH at the MK are the best! Even though it is pretty hard for us to stay up that late on our first full day in the US, with the time change and all! ;)

CSR is pretty beautiful! But we had a real hard time with housekeeping this time - hense the title of my trip report! We didn't experience it last year and we were in the same area.

Happy Easter, Karin and Tom.

And those Krispy Kreme's did NOT pass by me...I saw them. I actually got to have two when in Florida earlier this month...I was so excited.:banana::banana:

Thank you, Kathy!
Hope you got to enjoy Easter as well!
Any news on Cookie? Isn't today the day?

Yeah for getting Krispy Kreme during your vacation - did you go to the store in Kissimmee? If so, I hope the HOT NOW sign was on and you saw the Mickey in the back room! :thumbsup2

Happy Easter Karin and Tom!!! :)

Thank you! I hope your Easter was equally nice! :goodvibes

There are no special traditions we celebrate. Since there are no small children in the family we no longer have Easter Egg hunts and since we both have decided not to give each other any more presents in favour of being able to go on vacation there is not much on that front as well.
What we do have are all the old traditions, like the Thursday before Easter, you are supposed to eat something green - so we ALWAYS have spinach that day, then there is Good Friday, which is kind of a day of abstinence (got that from an online dictionary - means, you should watch what you eat and not eat meat that day). Then on Easter Sunday, you usually crack eggs with someone and have some Easter ham and Osterpinze!

Oh, and a nice relaxed lunch doesn't hurt either! :rotfl2:

Happy Easter!! :goodvibes

Thank you, Ellen! Hope your Easter was nice as well! :thumbsup2

Thank you!
The DISmeet was so much fun! I could not believe how easy it was to connect with all of them. There is always a language barrier to conquer for us. But they were all sooooooo nice, no problem at all! :thumbsup2

You'll love CSR, it is VERY beautiful. We love the Cabanas area and requested it, and got granted our wish! If only Mousekeeping would have been a bit earlier every day! :rotfl2: No fun coming back midday and have an unmade room! :sad2:

Day 3, February 21

A lazy President’s Day with lots of sunshine, treats and a dinner with a view! - Part 2

First we headed over to the pool because Tina had mentioned before that they might be there.

Tina and her mother were enjoying the sun and the adult drinks

while Mark and Max took a nap back at the room. We stayed for a while and talked before we parted ways again.

Tom and I walked along the side of the lake, taking in the sun, the blue skies, the palm trees and the millions of blossoms and blooming trees. What a change from the greyish brown grass that we had left back home.

We walked across the bridge and over to the shop to do a little more window shopping before we headed back to our room. It must have been cleaned by now. Nope! Not Ready yet!

So we got our bags again and off we went to do some more shopping. We were looking for a Dollartree to look for some things to pick up to put into the Fish Extenders on our summer cruise.
The store is at the other end of Kissimmee and once we had found it we picked up quite a few things which we could easily use to include into our Fish Extender gifts.

We stopped at some shops to have a look at waterproof cameras and finally went back to the resort.

It was close to 6pm and we were hoping and wishing that finally our room would have been made – and yeah, by the end of the day even we had gotten a clean room.

IMG_4397.jpg

We stowed away our new purchases and had a few snacks while relaxing on the beds and watching TV. A little after 7pm we got ready to go out again and head over to the Contemporary for dinner at the California Grill.

Wow, you really had a long wait for a clean room. Once in NYC staying at the W Hotel my room was not done by late afternoon. I called housekeeping, went to see a play (Spamalot) and room was STILL not done after 10:00 pm. A rather terse phone call got it done and then a bottle of champagne we really couldn't use. I feel your irritation.

Our room was made late, and I mean LATE, EVERY day! It started to become a running joke - would the room be done? ....... no, not ready yet! :rotfl2:

I can take it a day or two, but the whole week was a bit frustrating.

Hi Karin :goodvibes

Hope you had a lovely Easter.

Your photos of CS are just wonderful. It looks like a great resort (we've never been there)

Good for you and Tom for eating half a dozen donuts between you :thumbsup2

I love all the pictures of the resort. I really want to stay there someday. (in some ways, I wish it were there that we were staying in December)

I can't believe you had struggles all week with mousekeeping getting your room done. :confused3 We had that same problem at POR last February, but I assumed it had to do with us being placed in a temporary room that then became our "real" room. It took days for mousekeeping to even make our beds.

I lvoe the squirrel picture. I took one on our trip and my Dad thought I was nuts for taking one...then about 3 people after me took one of the same squirrel. I pointed that out to him too. We kpt seeing squirrels all day arou7nd us, and it was a running joke that it was one squirrel following us, and I said, he just wanted to have his picture taken before we left.

Great shots Karin! :thumbsup2 I especially love the last one of the grounds, looking at Casitas through the trees. Gorgeous!

It is really beautiful there. :goodvibes I can't wait for August!!! :yay:

Hi Karin,
Happy belated Easter! Aside from eating too many sweets I had an uneventful holiday, it was my B-day so I guess that counts for something. I am waiting to celebrate in WDW in a little over 2 weeks. That was quite a lovely stroll this morning through your eyes, so pretty.

Lovely CSR pictures :) and yay for finally getting into your room :yay:

Looking forward to your CG update :teeth:

I love CSR, stayed there twice. I decided to go back to CB for the new trip as my DIL has not stayed there. The one picture looked like it was of my hammock, the first thing that we did on the last trip was lie in that hammock!

My DH loves to interact with squirells on our vacations. He was amazed at the black ones in Toronto.

Thank you, Linda, yes, we had a nice Easter! Hope you had a wonderful Easter too!

CSR is very beautiful, the grounds are gorgeous, just wasn't impressed with Mousekeeping this time! ;) :lmao:

You know, I got a mail from Yahoo insider the other day, saying that the "healthiest" doughnut is the Original glazed Krispy Kreme - I showed Tom and told him that we actually had a "healthy breakfast" that day! :rotfl2:

I am very sorry to repeat myself, but it is such a beautiful resort and has a lot of atmosphere. We loved to walk around and enjoy the grounds. The trees were in full bloom and we just enjoyed it so much.

As for mousekeeping - I have NEVER had an issue with them before. I do understand that sometimes your room is cleaned late, but this was kind of a deja-vue! It was the same EVERY day and it started to be a running joke. But if you want to just relax for a while in the afternoon, that just is not possible if they can knock on your door any minute. :sad2:

Tom just LOVES taking pictures of squirrels - I could fill a book with the photos we have of them! :rotfl2:
And I love your little story of the squirrel "who wanted to be in pictures". :lmao:

Great shots Karin! :thumbsup2 I especially love the last one of the grounds, looking at Casitas through the trees. Gorgeous!

Thank you! The photos are a joint venture - some were taken by me, some are Tom's, he's got the better picture - I have more of an eye for perspective. ;)

You are going to love the resort, so peaceful and the grounds are breathtaking! :thumbsup2

Happy belated birthday! :bday:

What a wonderful idea to celebrate your birthday with your WDW visit! Don't forget to pick up a birthday button first thing when you arrive! :thumbsup2

Lovely CSR pictures :) and yay for finally getting into your room :yay:

CSR is really beautiful and the rooms are too, ........... once you finally get them cleaned! :rotfl2:

Update coming up soon! :goodvibes

Somehow those squirrels have something that makes them so loveable! We have a huge array of photos of squirrels as well as ducks, and even some of cockroaches and grasshoppers! :rotfl2:

Those hammocks are just wonderful - if only getting out of them was as easy as getting in ..... or is it the other way round! :rotfl2:

Day 3, February 21

A lazy President’s Day with lots of sunshine, treats and a dinner with a view! - Part 3

A little after 7pm we got ready to go out again and head over to the Contemporary for dinner at the California Grill.

We arrived a little early for our reservation, asked if Ron would be working and no, he wasn’t, so we didn’t mind where we were seated. Our reservation was for right when Wishes was starting so we went outside a little ahead of time and found a perfect spot on the observation deck to watch it.

We were right in time for the Memories, the Magic and Me show on the castle.

The fireworks were wonderful as always and the view from the Contemporary gives you an idea on how far away they are actually launched.

Once they were over we went back inside the restaurant and tried to find some space where we could wait for our table.

IMG_9665.jpg

And found a cover of our all time favourite friend - Wolfgang Puck! :rotfl2:
Right then our buzzer went off and we were led towards the back of the restaurant to a small table between two larger tables where people were celebrating.

We both weren’t very hungry and decided that instead of sharing a starter we would both get two appetizers and maybe dessert. Our server was Erica, who had actually been our server the last time we were there too!

So we ordered our Diet Cokes and went to have a look at the menu.

Tom decided that he wanted to order the Spicy Kazan Roll, with Crab, Shrimp, Bay Scallops, Tuna and Fireball Sauce,

IMG_9678.jpg

IMG_9677.jpg

while I had my heart set on a Flatbread, the Grilled Flat Iron Steak with Cambozola Blue, Mushroom Cream, Horseradish and Tempura Shallots.

IMG_9674.jpg

IMG_9675.jpg

After we had placed the order we got a basket full of Sourdough Bread

IMG_9671.jpg

and Butter with Seasalt,

IMG_9673.jpg

to carry us over until our main courses would arrive. We nibbled a bit of the bread and very soon our plates arrived.

Since we both had similar dishes before, we knew what to expect and were not disappointed! Okay, on to the second starter.

Tom wanted to try the Fire Roasted Maine “Big One” Mussels, with Coconut Lime and Curry Broth, Finger Lime Aioli and Coriander Bread,

IMG_9682.jpg

IMG_9684.jpg

while I had decided to try the Main Lobster Salad with Avocado and Yogurt Dressing, Jicama and local Honeybell Vinaigrette.

IMG_9681.jpg

And while Tom enjoyed his mussels I found the lobster rather chewy and the whole salad a bit too cold. We were actually full by then, but Erica brought the dessert menus anyway.

Even though I was about sure NOT to get dessert, once I read the first item on the menu, I knew that I was going to stuff myself silly that day.
Tom stayed strong and only ordered a Cappuccino,

IMG_9690.jpg

that came with a chocolate biscotti, I gave in and ordered some dessert. I had the Butterscotch Bread Pudding, with Apple Compote, Drunken Butterscotch Sauce and Vanilla-Toffee Ice Cream.

IMG_9693.jpg

Oh my god, it was heaven on earth. So good! :cloud9:

When we had finally finished coffee and dessert we settled the bill and walked down to Valet Parking to pick up our car.

We got back to our room at around 11pm, watched a little more TV and finally were off to bed. There was another exciting day ahead of us!
