Not digging the “no carpeting” new trend

With DVC one bedrooms and larger, you get both. Hard floor in the bathrooms and living rooms and carpet in the sleeping areas.

I’ve had German Shepherds my whole life. They shed like crazy and track in everything under the sun from outside. My house is probably 90% solid bamboo and tile flooring. Its extremely durable and easy to clean. Carpet holds dirt, odor, etc. So I’m all about the anything but carpet for flooring. I’m definitely not a fan of the particular flooring they chose, but it’s very cost effective.

I mean, they both have laminate flooring I guess? Outside of that the rooms are quite different and I can tell you from the picture alone the quality of materials are much higher in the Port Orleans rooms.

I'm super skeeved out by hotel room floors so I always wear a pair of flip flops inside whether its carpeted or not.

me too. I have specific ones I use at hotels. that or indoor slippers that are going to get tossed so those get left behind

I like the no carpet, only have it in the bedroom and closet at my house and eventually will rip that out. Carpets and Florida swamp equal damp musty odor even if you cleaned it after every use, which isn't realistic.

I dont mind the laminate floors, I just wish they would add a mat by the front door for wet shoes.

I like carpet. I also have been disappointed with the room refurbs with cold hard floors. Carpet feels a lot more comforting to me.

I like the cleaner open look between the floor and refurbish. But I’ve seen people say they miss the sound absorption of carpet because now they can hear ppl upstairs.

The lack of sound absorption is the #1 reason I don't like it. I've never heard anything when staying at AKL and last December we had a renovated room there and we heard a lot from the people upstairs. No blame to them--it was perfectly ordinary in-the-room noise, but it was something I'd never experienced there before, and I started feeling like I was staying in a Value, not a Deluxe.

I was gonna guess EconoLodge. I wasn't far off. I hate the hard bare floors. I mean... how well do you think they wash these? They are just smearing around the goop. I miss carpeted floors, and I also miss beds with real blankets and bed spreads.

Looks about the same to me, except one costs $150 and the other $30

Carpeting is gross. They aren't steam cleaned in between guests. All manner of fluids and dirt is on it and the vacuum doesn't pick it up.

I doubt they are steam cleaning the laminate flooring. Probably just vacuuming it and not scrubbing the floor.

I vastly prefer hard surface flooring. Hotel carpet is gross.

in a side note, there is NO way you are getting the Motel 6 room pictured for $30 a night. You can get the older ones for that sometimes, but t he newly redone ones that pristine will be closer to $60 plus taxes and fees In non prime locations. More very close to a major attraction. You pay for bot quality and location. Given that fact, I think the price at the Pop is reasonable, and the beds are definitely better.

Reslly easy to wet mop laminate with disinfectant. I have seen housekeeping at the pop wet mop those floors.

No but I hope they are mopped. Even just vacuumed hard floor is better than carpeting. Urine and other fluids aren't soaking in to laminate.

People go here often enough and enjoy themselves. Some don't know what they missed lol.

Others find $125-150 at Pop ends up not costing much more in the end when MBs, MDE, FP priority, EMH and daily transport for a party of 4 were factored in. I can't really dig WDW much on value prices because for some parties it's still by far the best bang for the buck and will squeeze the most experience out of their expensive park tickets.

I like the no carpeting trend. Less chance of my allergies being triggered and it just seems more hygienic. I bring a pair of slippers for comfort anyway.

I see both sides, but I'm a fan of the no carpet trend as well for the reason above. It's a selfish reason but the removal of the carpet is so much better for my allergies. It's also easier to see if the floor has/hasn't been cleaned. One trip to CCV we entered the room and found the floor to be incredibly dusty. It amazed me that the room could've been unoccupied long enough to accumulate that much dust. We're not complainers, at all, but due to allergies we did say something. A cast member came up (she wasn't from housekeeping, maybe a manager?) and was suprised too. We let her know it was no rush, as we were going to be out of the room for awhile, but she took out cleaning supplies to start cleaning the floor herself!
