Where were we? Ah, yes. On the quest for tacos, waylaid by the ever so lovely Dole Whip float.
Which really ended up being a nice appetizer for my favorite counter service in the whole of the Magic Kingdom, Casey's.
Yes. We ended up eating hot dogs and french fries. But any of you who know me well know that these are not just any hot dogs and french fries, oh no. These are MAGIC KINGDOM hot dogs and french fries, and therefore taste better, because they are being consumed on Main Street with copious amounts of ketchup and processed cheese sauce for my fries.
In short, I was in heaven.
And, this was the first place that we discovered DS was finally a good vacation eater! I'd been so worried about the children's menus at places, because the selection can be pretty abysmal. I have an adventurous son who doesn't want to eat some of the junkier far all the time, but this trip, he did so well on that menu that I wouldn't hesitate to purchase the dining plan for him. It was very exciting for us to have a well fed kiddo, let me tell you! It makes for a lot less cranky in your day.
We sat on the bleachers inside and watched the old school cartoons, which I love, and which my DS happens to love as well. A boy after my own heart, he would prefer those to more current cartoons.
I think I may be a little out of order as to what we did next, but I can tell you that at some point, we ended up in Fantasyland. We got a fastpass for Peter Pan. We then rode IASW which was almost a walk on. Maybe a five minute wait just to get people down to the loading area. Afterwards, we headed to Mickey's Philharmagic where I ended up chatting up another CM. She wasn't actually working, and I don't remember her name, but she was very sweet.
She was in the college program, and catching Mickey's Philharmagic before her work day started. I do remember that she was from Arizona, and she was great with my DS. Now DS loved this show, so that was awesome. And I really love that there's a 3D experience in Disney World that doesn't scare the ever livin carp out of you! It's so nice to have a tame alternative for the kiddos and we scaredy cat adults.
We had to wait a little bit, because we had fastpasses for Peter Pan, but we also got fastpasses for WTP because the line was horrendous.
Now, when I write this all down, it seems like it only took a few minutes, right? But all that trekking around and the philharmagic can take up some time, to DS' belly, that meant it was time for a snack!
We go thim a popsicle...I'm almost positive it was an Itzakadoozie. I just love saying that, but I'll have to go through pictures to make sure. He did a great job eating it and we just sat down on a bench on the outskirts of Fantasyland, closer to Toon Town, got him in some shade so his pop wouldn't melt and just sat and relaxed.
I have to tell you, it's moments like those, when you're not doing anything, when you're sitting and watching the world go by, that really stick it on your memory. I can remember sitting there and feeling so contented and peaceful. And deep in the back of my mind I knew the family was due to arrive tomorrow and I was so wanting to make the best of this day.
When my DS was done, after I'd taken some cute pictures of him with his pop, I thought, let's just head over to Toon Town and see how long the wait is for the Princesses. It's possible that popsicle may have been bribery to get my son to meet them, I'm not sure. I don't remember the wait time, but whatever it was, it was too long for TK. We decided to hop on the train, which DS loved, and we got off in Frontierland.
Next up - Will DS be willing to socialize with the grim grinning ghosts?
