Well, I had some pretty fond memories of The Haunted Mansion from our family trip last year. DS was chosen to be an honorary caretaker, and he got to dress in a mini HM costume and open the doors. So, stinkin' cute.
So I was really hoping he would be game to go on the ride again this year. I did however, insist to DH that we skip the stretching room. I just don't think my DS is ready for it, and I want him to love the ride, not for us to traumatize him with it. It's so important to me because as a kid, I was never scared of the Haunted Mansion.
I was scared of (and still am) the Muppets, but never scared of the Haunted Mansion. Go figure. I guess my parents never made a big deal out of it, and so it worked.
We told my son we were going to see some ghosts like in Ghostbusters (my husband has the video game for the Wii) so that was very cool to him.
Now, since we're skipping the stretching room, there's this hallway you have to walk through, basically, you're going in through the exit and then cutting through. Even though I'd done it once, I wasn't quite sure that we had the right door, and I mentioned something to DH about feeling naughty. Wouldn't you know that a CM chose that moment to appear?

Anyway, she helpfully directed that we did have the right door, so we were able to go through and board the ride.
Well, my son did cling to us for the whole thing, but when it was over, and we asked him if he liked it, he said yes!

Mission completion, I was stoked. The kid likes Haunted Mansion and he loves POTC. What more could I ask for?
We headed back over to Fantasyland, where we used our Peter Pan fastpasses. It was so much fun to do that ride with him. I think I get most nostaligc on Fantasyland rides because I remember my parents taking me, and now I'm taking my son. Makes me a little weepy.
After Peter Pan, we went on Snow White, and we headed over to WTP to use our fastpasses.
I distinctly remember that CMs were telling those of us heading to the fastpass line that it was a bit backed up and if we wanted to come back later, our passes would be honored. DH and I looked at each other and figured, we're here now. We waited and it took about 15 minutes. Not too shabby, I thought.
After the WTP ride, we were all feeling hankering for a little smackerel of something.
We fufilled one of my Disney food fantasies. It's not impressive, but I've always wanted to do it and now I can say I did.
DH, DS, and I shared a giant turkey leg in Tomorrowland.
And it was good! Now let me tell you, I could never eat one on my own, so for the three of us, it was a good snack. My DH got his Slushy Coke, and was quite happy. Lots of food wishes being filled at this point.
Let me tell you, there's no finer family bonding than gnawing your way through a genetically engineered looking turkey leg in the middle of Tomorrowland. Truly, another priceless moment.
We went on one of the only rides my son requests to do twice, the TTA, and I loved it again even if the Space Mountain part was weird. The boys wanted to ride Buzz, I chose to sit it out.
Instead, I went to meet Stitch, and that was fun. There was a very enthusiastic little tyke behind me who raced ahead of me, and the CM politely explained I was next. Those kiddos aren't used to adults by themselves in line.
Afterwards, we headed to the front of the park, where I was hoping for an ice cream sandwich the size of my head.
In case you haven't picked up on it, today's food theme was whatever junk we could manage to get.
And I quote, "What do you mean the bakery is closed?"
Oh yes, my friends. DENIED. The bakery had closed that day for the next 10 days. It was setback, I'll admit, but I muddled through.

I mean how can you complain when you've had a Dole Whip Float, Casey's, and a turkey leg? Let's count our blessings.
