Not All Treasure Is Silver And Gold, Mate - *Update 9-17* P60

That, as of late, I've been DIS absent.

I do have a perfectly good reason, which I'd love to relate in song. ;)

ahem...

A Pirate's Life for Three, A Pirate's Life for Three...
What can be said of the beauty of a pirate's life for three...

We journey to Disney, fill up on fun
treat ourselves most heartily, yo ho

We ponder the thought of adding one
to this family of ours, yo ho

What starts as a dream
for a new little bean
becomes a reality, yo ho

And so to relate
the first trimester I face
no more drink up, me hearties yo ho

A Pirate's Life for Three, A Pirate's Life for Three
we're ready to open a new door
and now, I am happy to report...

A Pirate's Life for Four

The day after Thanksgiving, I found out we're expecting our second child. :yay:

and accomplished so many.

My only goal for this day on my to do list was to let my son pick the park. And we did. Suffice it to say, he's not too solid on the names of the parks at this point in the trip, but he knew he wanted to go on the pirates ride and it's a small world, and those are at the Magic Kingdom.

Henceforth, the TK clan set out, wearing their artfully made tie dye shirts, ready to take on the day. Little did I know that we would do so much.

There are so many things that I loved about this day. I loved the lack of dining reservations. I loved that we had no plans, that we went with the flow totally, and that although we let my son take the lead, he also wasn't opposed to a little direction.

And this was really the day that we discovered one of the best things about this trip, being that DS was game for practically anything.

I have to say, I know I've always been a big advocate of going to Disney regardless of the age of your child. And don't get me wrong, I've had a lot of fun on our past trips with DS.

But never before, never more than this year did he really get it. I mean: GET. IT. The magic. The rides. The fun he could have. And because he's a whole year older, we had much less of the I want's, or something new, something different.

And also, I let go a little more, spoiled a little more, but within reason.

This was one of the best days I've ever had. And all in the back of my mind, I was thinking, this is the last time. It was our only full day, just the three of us before the family got there, and I knew that when we got home from this trip, DH and I really wanted to start trying for another baby.

So even though our little bean wasn't yet on the horizon, the idea wasn't far from my mind.

And I think that enabled me to enjoy my husband and my son even more. It was really the last time in Disney that we would be three. And I was determined that we would enjoy it.

How little did I know how much we would do, and that it would be the best day ever. :goodvibes

Awww I'm so glad you had such a terrific day with your son. A year really does make a difference. I've been to Disney with my older nephew at 3.5, 4, 4.5, and 5.5. 4-5 is such a HUGE difference from 3. I even noticed it when I taught kindergarten. I'm happy that you got to enjoy your last trip as 3. You're going to have so much fun introducing your new little girl or boy to the magic of Disney and he/she will have a terrific big brother to show them the ropes :goodvibes

Thank you! Isn't the difference amazing? I know people say terrible twos, but I never found that to be the case. Three was SO much harder, and it seemed four is mellower, and I'm hoping five will be even more so.

I can't wait to bring this new little one to Disney, but I have a feeling that we will hold it for a while so we can really enjoy it. :thumbsup2
