Non-Partisan Thoughts About Vice-President Cheney

I'd rather be hunting with Vice-President Cheney than riding in a car with Senator Ted Kennedy!

So so true, but there were no guns involved so it's alright to commit murder that way. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Well if I had to be shot by an old man with a bad heart I would want it to be Cheney. He has a staff of medical professionals with him at all times. I can't believe Cheney did not have a heart attack after he shot his friend. Do old men hunt alot? That alone sounds dangerous.

James Taranto at the WSJ has rethought his position on Gore's speech:

Second Thoughts About Gore
Usually when Al Gore gives a speech, left-wing blogs are filled with enthusiastic reviews. But we haven't noticed a single plaudit for, or even defense of, Gore's weekend speech in Saudi Arabia, which we noted Monday. So we thought we'd offer one. To recap, here is what Gore said, as reported by the Associated Press:

Gore told a mainly Saudi audience on Sunday that the U.S. government committed "terrible abuses" against Arabs after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, and that most Americans did not support such treatment.

Gore said Arabs had been "indiscriminately rounded up" and held in "unforgivable" conditions.

We objected strenuously to this, for the obvious reasons. But later we thought of another way of looking at it. Think of the message Gore is delivering to the Saudis:

If your countrymen attack America, you will be "indiscriminately rounded up," held in "unforgivable" conditions and subjected to "terrible abuses."

And don't bother trying to appeal to American public opinion. Most Americans already oppose such treatment, but Bush is too crazy and mean to care.
If the Saudis take Gore seriously--a big if, but remember that they don't know him as well as we do--they will be way too scared to try any terrorism any time soon.

:)

I got this from MSNBC:

Cheney returned to his home state of Wyoming on Friday, getting a standing ovation from state lawmakers.

Thank goodness the decent people of Wyoming have finally put DickCheneyShootsManInFaceGate in the perspective it deserves.

Dick Cheney is a hero for how he handled the shooting of another man in the face. He deserves both our praise and accolades for bravely submitting himself to the unholy grilling he took on Fox News. It took a real man of courage to stand up to those sharks at FOX.

And though he hasn’t said it out loud, I’m sure Dick Cheney will take the lessons of this week and use them for the good of mankind. For instance, I think he is highly unlikely to shoot another old man in the face any time soon. And that’s a good thing.

Twenty years from now we will look back at this incident and laugh. We will recall with warm nostalgia Dick Cheney’s propensity to shoot other men in the face. Our Vice-President is such a kidder. He knows we can’t stay mad at him for very long.

Did anyone hear Mr. Whittington read his speech today? He said the shooting was on Friday.

Here is a piece of the transcript from MSNBC

"We all assume certain risks in whatever we do, whatever activities we pursue. And regardless of how experienced, careful and dedicated we are, accidents do and will happen – and that’s what happened last Friday"

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

I think he is right.

MSNBC isn't choking on "sour grapes" I trust!

I know that expressing any opinion about our Vice-President carries the risk of igniting a partisan flame war on this site. But I just have to speak up. It shouldn’t matter what your political beliefs are, there are some things we can all agree on despite our political affiliations. So I’m going way out on a ledge here and state for the record:

I’m opposed to our Vice-President shooting old men in the face.

If Mr. Cheney absolutely has to shoot someone in the face, there are lots secret torture prisons run by his government where he can find hapless victims.

If Cheney would rather not go abroad to shoot people in the face, he can always get President Bush to override long standing legal sanctions meant to prevent exactly this type of behavior. Once the President secretly authorizes the shooting of people in the face domestically, Cheney can shoot whoever he pleases.

But until then, I really believe Mr. Cheney should refrain from shooting people. Especially in the face.

Non partisan??? Right, and monkey might fly out of my butt.

My 11 year old said it best I think, My wife and I were discussing the matter and how the media was in a frenzy.

The very sage 11 year old said "It was an accident, get over it."

Seems about right....

TCPluto, you have me all wrong on this one. I'm with you 100%. If you read the rest of this thread you will see that I make exactly the point you are trying to get across.

I'm not necessarily opposed to our Vice-President shooting old men in the face. In fact, I think you can make some very good arguments why shooting men in the face will ultimately help us win the war on terror. Studies have conclusively proven that the vast majority of Iraqi insurgents and Al Quaida operatives object to being shot in the face. So what's bad for terrorists is, by definition, good for us.

If Dick Cheney wants to shoot old men in the face I just want to make sure he is doing it legally. Otherwise we will have to go through the exact same thing the next time Dick Cheney shoots an old man in the face. And nobody wants that. Pass a law and let’s get back to work. I have more important things to do than to tune into FOX News every time Cheney shoots an old man in the face.

I'd rather listen to the 11-year old than your mocking attempt at humor. :sad2:

Funny, for someone who would rather not read what I write, you sure make a point of reading everything I write. And not only do read everything I write, you take the time to comment on everything I write. Your behavior suggests to me that you aren’t being exactly truthful with the above quote. I think you like me Joe. In fact I think you like me a lot.

That’s OK. I’m not about to go all Brokeback Message Board on you. I’m just flattered by your harmless little obsession with me.

Oh, you can protest all you want. But we both know how you feel. Finding out your Vice-President shot someone in the face with a shotgun can be quite traumatic for some. You never know what feelings are going to bubble to the surface.

The important thing is you not be ashamed JoeEpcot. I accept you for who you are.

With all due respect, JoeEpcotRock person, MossMan is a riot! In fact, if he weren't so funny, this thread would be totally tasteless.

Think about it.

;)

Not to make too big a deal about it but your pointed remarks on this and other threads about Ted and Hillary and Bill etc. also fall into the mocking humor catagory you are complaining about, so I wouldn't throw too many stones if I were you.

Yes, there are probably those who don't like my humor either. ;)

A lot of it depends upon your point of view -- which is unique to each one of us. :sunny:

Or whose ox is being (Al) gored. :duck:
