Non-Partisan Thoughts About Vice-President Cheney

Absolutely right Dawn.

When I heard that Dick Cheney had shot an old man in the face, the first thing I wondered was where John Kerry’s service records were.

I think this is only natural. We need to compare John Kerry’s service record to Dick Cheney’s quail hunting record just in case we unexpectedly travel back in time to November of 2004 and are asked to recast our ballots in the Presidential election.

It’s obvious that these two events are forever interconnected. How can we criticize our Vice-President for shooting an old man in the face when a one-time presidential candidate has a 40 year old service record that cannot be collaborated to the biased standards of a political pressure group? It hardly matters that this group distorted facts in order to trash a man who had served his country with distinction. The important thing is that they had a political agenda and that agenda was more important than the respect Americans normally reserve for those who answer to the call to arms in a time of war.

As long as John Kerry’s service record has been questioned for purely political reasons, Dick Cheney should have license to shoot whoever he wants in the face. If the liberal media doesn’t like it, then too bad for them.

Excellent post, MossMan!

Why ANYONE would segue from Cheney's HUNTING accident to Kerry shooting during an actual WAR ZONE is beyond me. It's like my youngest DD breaking a vase and saying in her defense "Well, 6 years ago my oldest sister snuck out of the house for an hour." What is the relevance of that? Do you honestly believe that by deflecting from the immediate situation, we are all such simpletons, that like using smoke and mirrors, we will simply agree and/or forget? I'd like to think that most of us on this board are a little sharper than that.

I'm a republican....and I think Dick handled it poorly.

I bet he was drunk.

I'm so disappointed in this administration....gives the US and the concept of freedom a bad name.

Real nice. Saying he was drunk. :sad2: Pitiful.

Freedom a bad name??? What?

I saw the musical "Wicked" last night.

A very interesting tale about what can happen to a person's reputation when people with power distort the truth to fit their own agenda and delude the general public...

I'll bet some folks here on this board might find the story thought-provoking.

Thankfully, the Dems don't have much power so their truth distortion is limited to trashing court nominees.

Mossman, for the record, 60% of Americans think that this is a 'NON STORY'. Contrary to your assertion, the media absolutely loves this story. No one else really cares.

Cheney refused to talk to local authorities until the next day. No point in giving him a breathalyzer then.

And he has had two DWI's...although it was many years ago.

But, I should not spread rumors.

What facts about Kerry were distorted?? The Swift Boat men spoke out, and caught Kerry in some lies. (Christmas in Cambodia anyone?)
Of course you are right JoeEpcot.

John Kerry was found out to not have perfect recollection for everything that happened 40 years ago. That is unforgivable. And once a group that was dedicated to putting Bush into office found out about these errors in recollection, they were duty bound to destroy the man’s entire service record.

We all learned an important lesson from the Swift Boat vets. It doesn’t matter if you serve your country with honor and distinction. What really matters is what party you support in Presidential elections. I hope our brave service men and women in Iraq understand this. Sure, they might exhibit bravery and even collect a few medals for selflessly putting themselves in harms way to save a brother soldier.

But this hardly matters if they end up running for the wrong party in an election someday.

The smart kids understand this and are following Vice-Presidents Cheney’s example by not choosing to serve in the current war. That way they won’t have to someday answer tricky questions about what they did in combat some 40 years ago. If they are really lucky, they might someday get the chance to shoot an old man in the face.

Yes, Dick Cheney is the gift that just keeps on giving.

Couldn’t agree more JoeEpcot. Unlike that traitor John Kerry, Dick Cheney stood up when his country needed him. Sure, Vice-President Dick could have volunteered to go to Vietnam with that traitor John Kerry. But what would that have accomplished?

No, Dick Cheney knew he was destined for more important things so he had the responsibility to protect himself from things like war. Mr. Cheney understood that there were others in his generation (like that traitor John Kerry) who were willing to put their ideals before their physical safety. Vice-President Dick knew that the greatest sacrifice he could make was to make no sacrifice at all.

So I salute you Mr. Cheney. And like JoeEpcot, I thank you for your brave service to our Republic. You have earned your pass, so think nothing of shooting that man in the face. For patriots such as yourself it hardly even matters.

What did the post of mine that you quoted have to do with all of that?

I was talking about Cheney chosing service to our country as Congressman, Secretary of Defense ,and Vice President instead of a private life.

Cheney's got a gun
Cheney's got a gun
quail hunting's not much fun
when Cheney's got a gun

what did that old man do?
did he say he would not contribute?
Cheney took a good look and then he
blew a load right in his face
the spell that he was under
even makes poor W wonder
'cause Dick usually doesn't leave a trace

run away, run away from Cheney yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
run away, run run run away
Cheney's got a gun

I agree with your first sentence. :sunny:

And your last sentence. Indeed, Vice President Cheney is a gift to this country. That's why I thanked him.

I agree Dawn. This is a non-story.

What does it matter if our Vice-President shoots an old man in the face? He didn’t shoot me in the face, so what right do I have to pass judgement. I’m sick and tired of how indignant the liberal media gets whenever the Vice-President shoots someone in the face.

Here’s the thing, Dick Cheney hasn’t shot anyone in the face for 4 days now. But outside of FOX News, no one is reporting this fact. How biased is that? The liberal media never gives Cheney credit for not shooting people in the face.

The ONLY reason this is a story is because Cheney and his secrecy made
it a story. If he comes out that evening with an official VP press release
about the accident, within a day or two it's a non-story.

It says a lot when 2 former republican White House press secreteries come
out and publically say how poorly this incident was handled.

I think it was bold of Cheney to tell the owner of the private ranch, whom he paid to hunt there, to report the incident to a local paper and ensure it's accuracy. Why expose yourself to a real reporter? They ask too many questions.

I think its pathetic that not only are people making fun of an accidental hunting incident but that our liberal press would LOVE to see the victim die. I mean, you can actually see them salivating at the bit at the prospect of the man expiring.

I swear reporters were actually smiling when they reported he had suffered a heart attack. They are sitting around HOPING this man dies just so they can dig their fangs into this administration a little bit more.

Iran is trying to enrich its uranium, if they haven't already. Shouldn't we all be more concerned about that than an ACCIDENT on a private hunting ranch??? Muslims are running around burning down buildings and killing people because of a cartoon!!!

Everyone's attention is being diverted from important issues that would actually enhance the Presidents positions on international affairs for frivolous non stories. Iran wants to blow up Israel and all the reporters want to talk about is birdshot??? Come on people. Get real here!!

Believe what the MSM is telling you and people you are following a lie!

ITA. President Clinton made the same mistake. The more a politician tries to dance around a scandal, the more intriguing it becomes and ultimately the more damage it causes. Of course Cheney's almost fanatical penchant for secrecy just compounds the situation.

Apparently, a man in his seventies was struck by a Peter Pan Adventure pirate ship at Disneyworld and flown by helicopter to the hospital on Tuesday.

Are you implying Dick Cheney was flying that pirate ship? Has he admitted it?
