Non-Partisan Thoughts About Vice-President Cheney

Obviously we know more about Dick Cheney shooting his friend than we will ever know about John Kerry shooting the Vietnamese kid in the back.
I totally agree Dawn, I find the hypocrisy about these two events absolutely disgusting.

So what if Kerry volunteered to go to Vietnam. The fact that Kerry was awarded a Silver Star for gallantry only proves how our government is unfairly biased towards people who exhibit signs of honor, bravery and self-sacrifice in times of war.

What about all the men who didn’t join Kerry, stayed safely at home and let others do the fighting for them. When do they get their medals? You heard the Vice-President on Fox last night. It wasn’t easy for him to shoot an old man in the face. So where’s his Silver Star?

I just hope Bush doesn’t kowtow to the liberals on this issue. Cheney deserves some recognition for what he accomplished in Texas.

And for all you Kerry-lovers, don’t even think of complaining. If Kerry wanted the kind of respect we reserve for true heroes like Dick Cheney, he too would have dodged service in the 60’s and shot an innocent man in the face instead. When will those liberals ever learn?

What possible significance could a teenage traffic accident have?
About as much as an event that possibly happened to the junior Senator from Mass. many decades ago. Basically the only relevance is how tight the knot is in the person's knickers who's posting about it.

This is a great post. The only problem is, Dawn probably thinks you're serious and is sitting in front of her keyboard thinking that this makes a lot of sense!

I am not a prayin' kind of girl, but I was thinking this morning that I might better start PRAYING that George W. stays healthy! I don't think Cheney in Charge is an experience I care to have! ;)

Where are those military records that Kerry promised to reveal? Hummmm?

I think everyone who belongs to the NRA ought to be shot once. Then we'll ask them what they think about guns......

Indeed, Kerry only issued a partial release of his military records, after promising full disclosure.

I've not read all the posts on this thread, but I admire Cheney's service to his country. He could have chosen an easier road, but accepted Bush's call to run with him as VP. A big thank you to him. :sunny:

Absolutely right Dawn.

When I heard that Dick Cheney had shot an old man in the face, the first thing I wondered was where John Kerry’s service records were.

I think this is only natural. We need to compare John Kerry’s service record to Dick Cheney’s quail hunting record just in case we unexpectedly travel back in time to November of 2004 and are asked to recast our ballots in the Presidential election.

It’s obvious that these two events are forever interconnected. How can we criticize our Vice-President for shooting an old man in the face when a one-time presidential candidate has a 40 year old service record that cannot be collaborated to the biased standards of a political pressure group? It hardly matters that this group distorted facts in order to trash a man who had served his country with distinction. The important thing is that they had a political agenda and that agenda was more important than the respect Americans normally reserve for those who answer to the call to arms in a time of war.

As long as John Kerry’s service record has been questioned for purely political reasons, Dick Cheney should have license to shoot whoever he wants in the face. If the liberal media doesn’t like it, then too bad for them.

What facts about Kerry were distorted?? The Swift Boat men spoke out, and caught Kerry in some lies. (Christmas in Cambodia anyone?) Kerry's service to the country was certainly quite mixed and controversial based on what he did when he got back from Viet Nam.

Kerry ran almost entirely on his service record (what did he mention about his Senate record?), and of course people checked it out. It was fair game. He wanted to be President based on his service record.

Do I think the Cheney incident and Kerry's record are related? NO.

Cheney had a hunting accident. Some don't care; some will use it for humor; and some will use it as an excuse to bash him (again).

Couldn’t agree more JoeEpcot. Unlike that traitor John Kerry, Dick Cheney stood up when his country needed him. Sure, Vice-President Dick could have volunteered to go to Vietnam with that traitor John Kerry. But what would that have accomplished?

No, Dick Cheney knew he was destined for more important things so he had the responsibility to protect himself from things like war. Mr. Cheney understood that there were others in his generation (like that traitor John Kerry) who were willing to put their ideals before their physical safety. Vice-President Dick knew that the greatest sacrifice he could make was to make no sacrifice at all.

So I salute you Mr. Cheney. And like JoeEpcot, I thank you for your brave service to our Republic. You have earned your pass, so think nothing of shooting that man in the face. For patriots such as yourself it hardly even matters.

I saw the musical "Wicked" last night.

A very interesting tale about what can happen to a person's reputation when people with power distort the truth to fit their own agenda and delude the general public...

I'll bet some folks here on this board might find the story thought-provoking.
