Hi.

Please forgive my ignorance/naivete.

We've been to WDW several times, but are planning a mini-reunion this time. I'm not a DVC member, but an OKW or SSR Grand Villa would be an ideal lodging for us. What are the chances of my being able to "rent" one for five days in early October? What kind of housekeeping would be available? Are eating/cooking utensils provided? Is access to the parks as easy from OKW and SSR as from other resorts?

Thanks for any answers you can provide...and your patience!

Based on the fact that you spelled naivete correctly, I forgive you.;)

At this point you need to move qucikly. Owners at OKW have had since November to book GV's. You should find an OKW owner soon to look into it for you.

Housekeeping is available daily for a fee as is trash and towel service. For a stay of less than 8 nights you would get trash and towel service on day four of your visit (check in day is day 1). If you stay more than 8 nights, you get a full cleaning on day four and trash and towel on day eight.

The transportation from OKW and SSR is very good. You never hear too many complaints about OKW bus service. It's not like BWV and BCV where you can walk to two of the parks, but at SSR you can walk to DTD.

Good luck in your quest for DVC knowledge.

The units are all "fully loaded". You'll have china, glassware, flatware and assorted kitchen cooking items. I think you'll find most everything you need and if not, a call to housekeeping can often times produce the item.

You can pay an additional fee and get daily housekeeping. For a GV it should be about $60 per day.

Getting to the parks from OKW and SSR is comparable to getting to the parks from any other WDW resort. The primary transportation is bus but there is also a bus to DD.

Just FYI: If you are just looking to book one (and pay cash for it) you can also do that through Central Reservations. DVC properties are just like any other at Disney anyone can stay there. If you are able to book it through CRO you would get daily housekeeping at no charge as a non member reservation. The only thing is that Grand Villas go quickly. The are a hot commodity...
