NOBODY IS MORE SURPRISED THAN US! GKTW alumni return! 10/21 MOVING DAY!!

Love the Toy Story movie night! Very well done!!!
Thinking of all of you.

My exciting news is that I booked a trip to London in October for my brand new niece's baptism! My brother and his wife had their 3rd child - a much prayed for baby girl after 2 beautiful and healthy boys - in June. Since losing my mom 7 months ago, the responsibility for attending these family events has fallen on me. But I love London and I'm thrilled to be able to go! We decided that we couldn't afford to take the whole family because the airfare is too expensive, especially for a short trip. But I will have a delightful long weekend in London to play with my nephews and niece and explore the city.

Amanda

Good morning all, So many need prayers, please know I am praying for each and everyone who has asked.

I was not all tucked in when you posted. I was on my phone reading. I fell asleep watching tv early in the evening. So by 4am I was wide awake.

He is on a waiting list for Occupational therapy. They also ordered counseling for him. His OCD meds were bumped up and they do help for anxiety, but apparently not enough. On Friday, she added a medication that is specifically for tics. So he quickly learned how to swallow pills since it doesn't come in a liquid. He found milk easier than applesauce.

I hope things start working out for him before our vacation up north.
I am not surprised at 5 in the AM you weren't tucked in bed...but I was hoping at 2AM Sandra was...she and I have had some late night discussions (early for me, late for her).
I pray for JJ to be MUCH better today and for you all to have some fun. OCD and Tics are so difficult to deal with, I know. I hope the right combination of meds coupled with OT and therapy will help! Did you try the pill under the tongue trick? Mama hugs Michelle, this is very hard on you too.

Judy, mixed vegies taste good to me when mixed into buttered rice. I put a little garlic powder in it, too. I often have this (had it Saturday and Sunday and plan to eat it later this week again.) It is a good way to make your dollar stretch and get your vegies in your diet.
I actually used the small mixed veggies in rice that night...I use broccoli, cauliflower, carrots etc in much larger chunks for my pasta. The veggie rice was good, but I will confess I missed my pasta! It is a good alternative though thank you!

What a great movie night looks yummy and fun. David did a great job!

You should defiantly give fried rice a try. It has veggies and little bit of eggs so very well rounded dish :thumbsup2 And I've been to China, they eat tones of rice (but I never saw fried rice, ironically, just steamed) and they are all tiny so there must be no calories in rice, right? :rotfl:

Praying for Lisa and Rachel to feel better.

Praying for JJ also, sorry to hear about his tics and hope the therapy helps.

Your trip is so close! :cheer2::cheer2:

David did a great job with the movie night. We tried to register him for classes yesterday and his password would work only on my computer then it wouldn't let him register! It was frustrating, we called and they spent over 20 minutes with us, then said they would have to get the tech person to call us back...still waiting.

Do you have a good recipe for fried rice?? I tried making it once long ago and it wasn't good...I love it though!

Thank you for the prayers you are the best!:hug: Lisa is better, just very tired. Rachel's asthma is flared pretty good, but she is so busy this week, unless she can't breathe, we will hold off for her pulmonology appt. She has needed her nebulizer TX. and rescue inhaler a lot though.

All caught up again! Still loving the movie nights!!! :cool1: The kids are all so creative with their ideas and putting them together! :thumbsup2

I am still drooling over those patriotic strawberries..........and those steel oat cookies looked fantastic!!! And some of the food names for the Toy Story theme were great! :goodvibes

Getting some much needed rain here so it's too muddy to be outside this morning. Love seeing what David did for his movie night! Tell him he did a great job with the creative ideas and names for his dishes. :thumbsup2 Hope there was good news with your Dad's doctor appointment yesterday.

Here's the way I make fried rice:

It’s best to use rice that has been cooked and been in the frig for a couple of days. I heat up a wok or large skillet with some olive oil and put in 2-3 eggs and scramble/fry the eggs. I use the wooden spoon to break into pieces or you can also use the cutting board and to chop the eggs into small pieces. Set aside. Chop up some green onions and cooked ham or whatever meat you have cooked. With the wok hot, add the cooked rice with some olive oil and add the chopped ham. Stir and break up the rice. Heat thoroughly. Then add the eggs and green onion. Season with black pepper and stir everything together. Divide onto plates and add Wheat-free soy sauce over the rice. Sorry about not including any type of measurements. You just adjust it to the amount of people you want to feed.

Judy, Here's a few recipe that you can try that uses substitute for noodles.

You can also try Spaghetti Squash to use instead. I tried it a couple of times but Billy isn't too crazy about it so haven't made it again.

Also wanted you to keep an eye out for a package coming your way next week.

Sitting on hold with the insurance company...fun times...

What a wonderful movie night! What creative ideas those kids of your's come up with!:thumbsup2

Like you, I buy all sorts of plates and napkins and "stuff" when they are on clearance. You never know when there's going to be some random party going on at our house. ;)
We have to be frugal, don't we my friend...makes those $$$ go further...and they come in handy!

I do have 4 incredibly creative children...they amaze me always. So blessed.

Praying ALL is well!!

Fabulous movie night!!! David did an outstanding job. I think I've seen two of the Toy Story movies but we don't own either so I don't recall the story too well. Everything looked yummy though and seeing your kitchen with food makes me really miss your cooking!
How did you get my pics todo that! Loved catching up the other day so happy your summer is a bit easier this year! e have seen Toy Story so much or copies are almost worn out...VHS, got to love it! I am planning a YUMMY meal for Sunday with Rachel...I wish you were here to enjoy it with us!

Love the Toy Story Movie Night. Having a birthday party for Andy was a very good idea and I bet a yummy one with that cake. We had our first Disney Family Movie Night on Saturday and Jenna is planning one for tomorrow. I too am loving seeing my kids plan and get creative. We stopped at Grandma's to visit a bit today and Jenna was telling her about her movie night plans and Grandma raided her pantry and came up with lots of cool stuff for Jennas theme. Cant wait to see how it turns out.

David did a GREAT job with his cake and everything else actually. OH I cant wait to see your movie nights!! You and yours are SO creative, I know they are going to be great fun! So happy Grandmom got in on the act...I am going to go see if you posted yet! :goodvibes

What a cute Toy Story movie night! You guys are so creative with your food items and their names! Buying your paper plates at such a discounted price is a great idea! Buying them on a day when you absolutely need them almost always results in spending too much on them lol
Krysten, I have to agree, it was cute and fun! I love their ideas and that they are doing it themselves and learning so much. I DO love a great bargain!
Like the others said we usually do stir fry with vegetables and rice. Also I know there is a book called gluten free on a shoe string, that is suppose to be full of affordable recipes to eat gluten free. I don't have as many lupus flare ups eating gluten free and the other plus is I am not nauseous all the time, and I don't throw up all the time like I used to.

Glad that Lisa is feeling better and hope that Rachel feels better soon, I know asthma attacks are no fun.

I will also be keeping JJ in my prayers and hope that things can get a little bit better for him.

Thoughts and prayers to all that need them.
I looked that book up, it had some good reviews. I am happy the gluten free helps your lupus. :grouphug: The asthma flare hasn't been fun, but Rachel keeps plugging along.
Thanks appreciate the prayer, and I do pray as I read the requests. Today wasn't a good day for him. His throat tics have occurred so often today that I lost track.
Praying today was better!
Thank you for the advice. After trying about 2 weeks, We ended up getting her a Sofia figurine set and put it on top of the refrigerator and told her if she peed in the potty with no pee accidents for a week she would get it. That worked and happily since then she has only had 2 pee accidents since receiving her toy. We are still working on the second part but I think we are going to have to go out buy the toy and put it on top of the fridge again. Again thank you for your advice and support and helping me know I was not alone.

Congratulations on your pregnancy, will be praying for you! :)

Thank you for understanding.

I am hoping she will be fully PTed soon!

Thank you for praying. I talked to my friend the other day and she said her mom got out of the hospital with in the week but is still not doing well and that even the family feels like all they can do is pray.

Of course I will forgive you for having a full box. :)

I hope to get caught up tonight. I have been busy with potty training, planning our family reunion trip for Sept 2014, going to Williamsburg for a few days with my sisters, mom, nieces, and Annabelle, bday stuff, my dad had shoulder surgery(he is doing great) and my sister and niece coming in from Ohio. It has just been family time and cleaning. Today we even went blueberry picking. I am hoping this will settle down soon so I keep better up to date.

Hope all is well and you are always in my prayers.

So I think I caught up for the most part I will be honest I mainly read just your post. Wonderful news about your dad. I hope Lisa is feeling better and Rachel as well.

Your movie nights look like so much fun and are so well themed! :)
You are doing a GREAT job on the potty training and I love the toy on the fridge idea. Those little incentives can make parenting SO much easier! Tell Annabelle I am SO proud of her!!!

You have been one busy woman, it sounds like yo have had a GREAT busy summer! Lisa said she wanted summer to start again, she has missed so much of it being sick, poor sweetie The movie nights have been awesome! I love them!!

David's movie night looks fun, creative and delicious. He did a great job. :thumbsup2
He surely did I loved it!! :goodvibes

He comes up with some of the funniest things. Last week during swimming lessons he told me he didn't like trying to do front floats because they made him nervous. Now everything makes him nervous. I think that's become his new favorite word. But we had a break through today .... he did his front float for the full 5 seconds!! Now bobs and front floats are his favorite things to do in the water!! Silly boy!

Glad Rachel is ok too! Yeah that is a good idea let's get all the sickness out now and then you can have a very healthy vacation!!

Jeremy is adorable, I just love children. They are so innocent and have the best thoughts. I am glad he loves bobs and front floats now!!

I wanted you to know I am praying for your family. I hope you have a good day.

God Bess you! :flower3: Thank you!

David did a great job on his movie night! I love seeing all the pictures of how much fun y'all are having. :)

I have hit the grouchy stage waiting for deployment and I would appreciate prayers. Thanks. :)

You have EVERY RIGHT to be irritable! :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: Thanks for being here with us and enjoying our movie nights, they are great fun!

Hope you have a great day today.
Looks like rain here, but that's good. Won't have to water my flowers then ;)

Prayers to all in need.
Are you excited your trip is almost here!!! :cheer2::yay::cheer2: Glad you got a little rain to water your pretty plants. I really did love your planter! You are SO creative!!

Love the Toy Story theme and the goodies for dinner. So good to see the kids taking charge and getting all of this done. Love that David wore his Buzz shirt for the occasion.
Kathy, always great to see you here! :goodvibes I love watching the children take charge, plan, organize and have fun with all of this!
Thank you for the kind words and hugs, Judy  My grandmother loved Disney as well, she went with us a few times before she got too sick to travel, so I know she is happy we are going!

I hope the girls are feeling better. I'm going to Pennsylvania to see family this weekend but know that I will be praying for you and your family!
They are better, although Rachel's asthma is not great. I hope you have a fabulous time in PA. I love PA, the docs at CHOP are so amazing and we have met such wonderful folks in Philly!

I so agree, your grandmother would be so happy for your to go to Disney as much as possible.

Sorry about the moment of panic!! I can understand with the trip coming up so fast you must feel under pressure to get all the plans pulled together and everything ready to go!! I hope that all the planning goes smoothly.

We always sing a song when we are waiting for the trip. It's called We're Going on a Trip. It played on a kid station called Noggin a couple of years ago. Anyway the lyrics say, "Packing the suitcases and counting down the days, is nearly just as fun as the actual vacation." Somehow life just seems better when a family trip is on the horizon, I guess it's the whole something to look forward too! I hope that helps as you deal with the stress of planning.

Thanks for the sweet compliments about the pictures. I can't believe how fast they have grown up. As far as health issues go Mallory had pacemaker surgery at the beginning of this year. That was stressful, and feels a little weird to have something like that in your child's body, but I try to focus on the fact that it will help her if her heart goes out of rhythm. When we were going thru security before the cruise we told them about the pacemaker to avoid going thru the metal detector so they took me and Mallory to an alternate screening area for a pat down. The security assumed that I had the pacemaker and started to pat me down. :rotfl2:

Oh I do hope you two are able to go on a cruise. We can actually go on a cruise with the 4 of us for a cheaper rate then it would cost to take a weeks vacation to San Diego or Anaheim (which are each about 1 hour away). I think the key is booking early or booking late and getting an unsold room right before they sail.

We used to go to Disneyland all the time. When I taught year round school I had the months of June, October, and February off so we had season passes and would go then. Now that I teach traditional school now, we don't have that opportunity anymore. In fact, I haven't been to Disneyland since before the Wish Trip. But luckily for Mallory and Michael my mom bought them season passes and takes them a number of times each year. So much for perfect attendance!! :lmao:

Okay I think you posted another Movie Night so I'm off to check that out.

Talk to you soon,

Madeline
You are so right about the planning being almost as much fun, because of the anticipation. I am STILL trying to get things settled. We had some news today that turned the plans on their heads, so I am back at square one, lol. I love that you get to cruise and enjoy the fun of that, I imagine it would be a blast!
I think if I ever actually got to go I wouldn't know what to do! :lmao: I am so happy the kiddos get to go with your parents so frequently, what a blessing. I am loving seeing you back on the boards so much, THANK YOU!!!

I am happy for things that help our sweeties hearts work..Pacemakers are a GREAT invention, Lisa may need one someday, her heart rate is so slow; however, even though Duke insisted she needed one, CHOP said she didn't...and we are so blessed she didn't need more surgery for that. She does have a mitral valve implant, it makes for a cool sounding heart. I am so thankful Mallory is doing as well as she is, she is such beauty We always do the manual pat downs as well, the first time Lisa had to have it doen she giggled non-stop, she thought it was funny..

In that long post I just typed I forgot to say yes Mallory can still fit in her Dumbo dress!! It's so fun to put that on an remember the Wish Trip and the Big Give. We love all of you that made that possible!! :cheer2::thumbsup2:hug: In fact, when my mom takes Mallory to Disneyland she wears the Dumbo dress or they each wear one of the Tye-dyed shirts and the compliments fly along with the questions of where can I but that? :confused3 :cool1::rotfl:
Awww! Thanks for your sweet comment!! :cloud9: I am glad to be back!! :cool1: I missed all of you!! :grouphug:

You have definitely been missed!

I am so thankful Mallory can still wear her dress, it is a beauty! Our Tyedyes never fit us girls, but the guys had a great time wearing theirs...they still do! I am amazed anyone can make those Mickeys on anything..I am amazed by ALL of the BG items actually, it was a lot of love, expense hard work and obvious love! :cloud9::love:

Not only did we get their discounted rate they were offering but since we are also past guests (next cruise we go on we'll be boarding as Gold Members) we got that rate too. For my family of 5 in an ocean view we paid right around $1400!! Can't do that when we go to Disneyland or anywhere else for that matter! Plus we used it as a very nice relaxing vacation. The only one I had problems with crying was my youngest James. He's just not used to being left behind. But would get over it once we were gone and he got immersed in an activity. We're hoping to cruise again in the next year or two but with the new little one on the way it may be a little bit longer of a wait. Hopefully next time we cruise you guys are cruising too! Would be fun to meet up with other's who enjoy doing the same things that we like doing too.
You wil get back and how cool if you were on the same ship!
Judy, here's my first attempt at a picture on the dis. Hope it works.

Ok sorrrrry it is so big!!!
I LOVE big pics, Thank you!
Love the Toy Story movie night! Very well done!!!
Thinking of all of you.

Thanks Amanda, it was a great movie night.

I am SO excited for you to be able to go to London to the baptism, how fun! I KNOW your Mom would be so happy to have you representing the family and enjoying your nephews and niece. What a great trip that is going to be, THANK YOU for sharing the news with me! :goodvibes:goodvibes

It has bene a long emotional roller-coaster of a day, I am going to crash and will be back, I have a few things to share! Prayers for you all continue!

Good morning all, So many need prayers, please know I am praying for each and everyone who has asked.

I am not surprised at 5 in the AM you weren't tucked in bed...but I was hoping at 2AM Sandra was...she and I have had some late night discussions (early for me, late for her).

I forgot to say that yes I was in bed early that night. I've found if I nap during the day I end up staying up until about 2 am (my time) and if I don't I'm in bed by 11 pm (my time). So I'm really trying not to nap right now just relax while the kids nap because I know once school starts a 2 am bedtime is going to make it very difficult to get up early in the mornings!!

Jeremy is adorable, I just love children. They are so innocent and have the best thoughts. I am glad he loves bobs and front floats now!!

He is a sweetie! Well all of them are but some of the things Jeremy says just makes you go huh where did that come from? :confused3 I'm just glad that he's loving the water now. When we go to our friends house (they have a pool) he wanted nothing to do with it. Now when we've gone over there we can't keep him out of the water. We've also been spending some time out our complexes pool with some friends and the kids have loved every minute of it well and so have I because I get some adult conversation!!!

Continued prayers that Lisa continues to get better and that Rachel is able to get through her asthma problems too. Hope you were able to get your insurance problems taken care of.

The DIS was exceptionally slow getting back on line this AM so my responses will be quick. I will be back later to share a few photos.

:goodvibes

Thanks for letting me know you are here dear friend! I am way behind as usual...but I think of you often.

My kids are having so much fun with movie nights and I am having fun letting someone cook, plan and execute for a change! :thumbsup2

I got some more strawberries Wednesday and if they aren't too ripe, I have a little white chocolate to recreate the yumminess! The steel oat cookies and strawberries are still my favorite, I confess! Thanks again for being here! :goodvibes

Getting some much needed rain here so it's too muddy to be outside this morning. Love seeing what David did for his movie night! Tell him he did a great job with the creative ideas and names for his dishes. :thumbsup2 Hope there was good news with your Dad's doctor appointment yesterday.

You can also try Spaghetti Squash to use instead. I tried it a couple of times but Billy isn't too crazy about it so haven't made it again.

Also wanted you to keep an eye out for a package coming your way next week.

Okay, THRILLED you posted these links, haven't had a chance to look at them yet, but they are right here all together for me, Thank you! I WILL be making some fried rice, but I will have to hide the rice! If it is in the frdige Pete and David think it is fair game, I actually have to put notes on things to tell them not to eat it. :rotfl2: I think the last time I tried to make the rice I only waited a day, maybe that was the problem...it WAS years ago, The recipe looks yummy, I will let you know how it turns out. Do you use brown rice or white? NO worries about the measurements, that is how I cook!

Thanks for the info, and I will look for the package, You are a dear heart,:love::love: you and Billy!

I am happy to see you posting, I hope the phone call went well.
Insurance calls make my hair stand on end...Thanks for the good wishes, :goodvibes

Resting is good and better than being up too late! I am glad you are doing what you need to feel good for you and the baby! The baby...LOVE saying that!

Each child is always special in there own way and hold a piece of your heart in different ways and for different reasons. I am so happy he loves the pool now! :goodvibes

I am also happy I am caught up here!

Love you all, have a fabulous day! :goodvibes

Do you use brown rice or white? NO worries about the measurements, that is how I cook!

I've always used white rice. Never tried it with brown rice. I can't make it for Billy now.

I've been thinking and praying for everyone. Judy, I hope Lisa and Rachel are feeling better today. Has the car situation changed yet? Your dad has been in my thoughts a lot.

JJ had a really rough last 2 days between seizures and tics. Yesterday was particularly rough after one of Grumpy's salt water fish died. Poor thing got stuck on the filter with his head out of the water. JJ spotted it, but it was too late and he took it really hard. Tics just kept coming and coming in clusters after that. Once he fell asleep they stopped.

On a good note, I think I noticed some improvement on the duration of the tics. Not once did his lips turn purple either. So he's getting more oxygen through them. That has to be a good sign!

Grumpy has decided to go on vacation with us to the Mustangs at Mickyard! I added him to the reservation yesterday. I think it was the two free after 4 tickets that attracted him. He is very frugal with his money and ours and I think that's why he hasn't wanted to go. He didn't want us to spend money on passes for him. He has classes two of the days we are there, but CSR will put him much closer to school. He still isn't game for the October weekend.

I'm sorry for your rough day. I hope today is better. Sending hugs and prayers!!!

Amanda

PS Thank you for your kind words. They mean a lot!

I've always used white rice. Never tried it with brown rice. I can't make it for Billy now.
Then white rice it shall be! I want to make sure I do it correctly and white is good...I love fried rice!

Lisa is starting to sleep a lot more than she was, I hope that doesn't mean the sinuses are getting worse. She lost a tooth last night while she was eating dinner and nearly swallowed it! Her INR is still so low, so the bleeding wasn't too horrible and the tooth obviously had already lost most of its root. We still need to get Pete a car, it is juts impossible to figure out how and he and I with one vehicle is difficult. Yes, Christian has a car, but Christian is still interviewing for jobs and volunteering, so he is not at our beck and call. He helps all he can. Dad is stable, he had his bone strengthening shot Wednesday and chemo next week.

I am truly sorry JJ is having more problems and that Grumpy's fish died. I can see how that would have been devastating for JJ. The co-morbidity with tics, OCD and anxiety is so difficult. Praying the meds will soon help, as well as therapies! God bless you, hang in there it WILL get easier.

Grumpy is like my kids, they know how to watch the money and worry about it more than they should. I am happy he will go with ya'll for some family time before you head north!

I'm sorry for your rough day. I hope today is better. Sending hugs and prayers!!!

Amanda

PS Thank you for your kind words. They mean a lot!

Thanks Amanda, it was just such a crazy day yesterday...we had horrible stuff and really AMAZING "stuff. : I hope to share shortly!

Claiming a really great day today, we are on a roll! Thank you for your prayers!!

I am glad my prayers and words bring comfort. You have had a tough year!

Judy, I want to tell you about something you may already know about. Yesterday, I got a large bag of thighs and legs with back meat for $5. It contained 7 large pieces of chicken. I am cooking them in my crock pot and it will be enough to do me for a couple of weeks. (I realize they wouldn't last that long with your family of 6!) But there are thighs, legs and additional meat on each one. I plan to freeze what I am not immediately going to use. I will take the meat off most of them and use it for chicken and noodles, chicken and dumplings, chicken pot pie, etc.

I know you don't have HEB since that is a Texas thing, but I have seen them in other stores, too. I have difficulty cooking since I can't stand for very long without a lot of pain, but the crock pot makes it much easier! You could put them in your crock pot and let them cook while you are out and about!

I just wanted to add that when I make fried rice a lot of the time I will cook some veggies like bell peppers, onions, broccoli, mushrooms, snow peas, zucchini, or squash in a pan with just a little bit of oil, salt, and pepper, and either mix them in the fried rice or serve them on top of it to make it go a little bit farther.

Thanks for all the prayers.

Thoughts and prayers to all that need them.
