NOBODY IS MORE SURPRISED THAN US! GKTW alumni return! 10/21 MOVING DAY!!

Michele, I am very sorry to hear about the lost homes. I'm sure this has to be very emotional for you. I do pray that no one was injured and that no further homes are destroyed.

April, I'm so glad Ezra is doing better today. How is Benjamin doing at school so far?

Continued prayers for Diego, JJ, Rachel and Lisa, and of course to all in need. Please don't take it personally if I fail to mention everyone by name.

My little update is that I had my first PT appt today and my therapist was lovely. She was really a fun person. She was really impressed with my range of motion and says with my injury it will just take time. She can't guarantee I will return to 100%, but will strive for it. I have home exercises and return in two weeks. She said yoga is my best friend so I need to start doing some everyday. I have a few pilates and yoga tapes so must get to work. All I have been doing is walking for exercise when it's not humid out.

And the piano was in excellent condition and the gentleman selling it was so sweet. He has to move into a home without stairs and can not find anything to accommodate his piano so he will have to buy a console once he moves. It will be delivered on Sept 12 and I might start taking piano lessons too. Right now dd is the only one that plays. I think we might need to buy a new couch soonest since our current one is quite large and actually is in poor shape. The piano will take up a lot of space b/c it's a baby grand. I'm really excited about getting it!

It's the kids last week off b/f school starts again. Hopefully we can squeeze in a couple of fun things to do this week.

Thanks! I have a great picture of Sarah and Mrs. D but I don't know how she'd feel about me posting it on a message board so I won't.

I think that was nice of you to take her feelings into consideration.

Thank you. As far as I know no one got hurt. Thank God.

It sounds like you have a good physical therapist and that is so important. I was blessed to have amazing physical therapists that refused to let me quit when I felt I couldn't go on. They are a big reason that I can now walk and my arm is no longer paralyzed.

How fun with the piano! I am so glad that I finished our furniture shopping for the most part. The TVs, one desk and one chair are about it on the furniture. I am so glad, that was so rough. No one agreed on anything. I finally went to a store that I had deemed as being too expensive and thankfully realized they weren't. I am thrilled!

I am always amazed by your thread Judy. Praying for your family and hoping things are at least bearable.
Prayers for others who have asked.

I just wanted to tell you thank you for the card when we got home from the service yesterday it was in the mail. It help get thru the day. It was very sweet I will try to call you next week. Have a good weekend

Droooool...a baby grand! Oh, how wonderful for you! The seller must be so pleased to see it going to a family that will be getting so many more years of use out of it! Let it sit for a bit after you move it before you have it tuned to let it acclimate to its new environment (every place is a bit different on humidity, temperature, etc.). And I am so glad to hear that you got some encouraging news from your PT. Keep up those exercises!

Michele, thoughts and prayers for the families that lost their homes. How strange that it happened right down the street from you - does the fire department think there is any connection or is it just a fluke? I'm sorry, I can't remember exactly what it was that started yours - faulty wiring? I guess I was wondering if it was a wiring issue and they had the same builder for the house where the fire started maybe there was a connection or something. BTW, how is your house coming along? You must be coming into the home stretch now and seeing a lot come together.

Judy, hope you all have a wonderful day today and Rachel continues to improve!

Prayers for everyone who needs them.

Judy glad to hear Rachel is improving.

Been busy these last couple days getting the kids ready for their first day of school TODAY!!! It's official I have a 1st Grader and a Kindergartener!!! Jeremy said his teacher is nice and Sarah was beyond excited because she got Mrs. D from last year!! I think it's going to be a great year!!! Here they are waiting to go to their classrooms.

Jeremy

Sarah

Sandra - your kids are so cute! They look so happy and excited to go to school - that makes it so much more fun!!

Students started here again last Thursday - and some are still registering :faint: I can't believe they aren't freaking out over missing a week of class...oh to be young and completely carefree again ;)

I hope the school year goes smoothly for everyone!

Judy, prayers for Lisa, Rachel, your dad and the rest of your family.

Diego will be in our prayers.

Glad to hear Ezra is doing better.

Prayers for all.

We are doing okay. Tessa's EMU stay hasn't been scheduled yet and it looks like it will be out awhile. I have been working on something that has to do with some wonderful wish news we got for John and we are headed to Branson with his parents in two weeks. I do have a prayer request. One of the kids I babysit is sick today and the others have been exposed. Trying to limit John's exposure but it worries me. Please pray that John doesn't get it. I know many of you understand how scary it would be for him to get a virus on top of everything else.

Just a quick update here: the doctor's office still did not want to see him yesterday unless he still had a fever today. So we went over their heads. ;) The ER nurse at children's hospital said he was hydrated well enough to avoid IV fluids and concurred that if he still had the fever today to head back to our doctor. At that point, they were counting it as 6 days since it started and they wanted to give him one more day on the antibiotic to see if it would do anything before running more tests. Thank goodness he's been good about sipping on that Gatorade all this time, I think that was his saving grace at avoiding the IV. Anyway, by last night it was still over 100 with the motrin and his cough was awful so I didn't have much hope that anything would be different today, but when I checked on him at 2:00 he seemed a little cooler (didn't want to wake him to take his temp) and by 4:30 when I went in to give him his meds the fever had definitely broken. He got up this morning asking for breakfast and *almost* his usual chipper self, so fingers crossed he is over the worst of it and the fever doesn't come back. Thank you so much for all the advice and prayers, we really appreciate having such good support!

Judy, hope you have a great day today and Rachel continues to show marked improvement!

Glad to hear that he is doing better, hope that he continues to improve.

Judy hope that your week has been going okay, and that Rachel is continuing to show improvements.

Thoughts and prayers to everyone else that needs them.

Yoga is my best friend, too. I spent a ton of $$ on pt and gradually realized yoga covered all the same bases as far as my back was concerned. The next year I broke my foot And my doc said once I got out of the boot yoga would be the best therapy!

Still need prayers for dd at school.

Prayers for johns health and all the rest of y'all too.

The fire is of unknown origin. It started in the dead grass on the side of the highway. With the high wind it spread and jumped the fence. The trees and houses caught fire. The grass in the field behind the house burned. As it burned the fire spread. These homes in that part of the neighborhood were built in the 1960's. The main street is a cross street between our part of the neighborhood and that part. Our houses were built in the late 70's.

Our house is getting to the point of amazing. They are starting the stucco process and they are starting the roof. The windows are in and they are hanging the outside doors. I noticed also that they are starting HVAC too. I also got an email with the new designs for the kitchen and the cabinets. Plus they asked what finish I wanted for my bathroom faucets and such. Exciting stuff!

Thank you! They were excited to start and are still excited to go. I wish I could be young and carefree again! But no I had to grow up (unless I'm in Disney then I'm a kid again)!!

Prayers for those that lost their homes due to the fire. Who knows what started it, could have been any number of reasons (lit cigarette thrown out a window, someone could have been pulled over and sparked something, etc.)

That's awesome that things are still moving along so well!! Can't wait to hear more and see pictures once it's done!!

If I can ask for some prayers for my dad tomorrow, he is having surgery to amputate his right leg and put hinges in his left hip.

Thoughts and prayers to all that need them

Marilyn,

I am praying for your dad.

Thoughts and prayers to all.

Just prayed through the newest requests and updates. My goodness, there are more things to pray for here than on my church prayer list. And I count it a blessing to be able to "know" you folks here and pray for you. :goodvibes I won't even begin to try to respond to everyone, just know that I have prayed for your needs. And I sure hope Judy is able to chime in here soon.

I'll see if I can find you. Or I'm pretty easy to find (I'm also friends with Michelle). My profile picture is of the kids (well 2 of them anyways).

Stopping by to say hi!!

Sending hugs and prayers to all those who need it!

Good morning Judy! Hope that your absence doesn't mean that there's a crisis on the homefront. I've shot you an email to check-in on you and the family.

While Lisa was at her speech therapy appointment I was looking at my calendar and realized this month was over and I had no idea where it went. Then I counted up: We had 42 medical appointments, 5 dental appointments, 2 orthodontic appointments...plus the regular stuff the children do and two extra special activities...I guess I know where the month went! As of this morning we have had out of pocket expenses of $3,986.45 (and 6 places have not been processed and none of this weeks appts have posted) since August 1...this is what is known as affordable healthcare.

I want you all to know I read as often as I can, I simply have not had time to answer you. But I AM praying! I appreciate those of you who say hi, who let me know you are here and praying for our family. I love the school stories, the pictures, the prayer requests we can all lift up and praises. I know you are all praying for each other as well and I am thankful.

Rachel has improved; however, we still have a long way to go. If she hasn’t improved markedly by September 16 we will start speech and OT for her...Lisa has continued to have a barrage of appointments this month. The most worrisome issue is her leg. A new occlusion was noted in addition to the femoral occlusion when we saw her vascular surgeon. Lisa also has an external iliac artery occlusion that had not been noted before. They will watch it closely. As for her leg length discrepancy, it has been evident to me that it has increased. I have a keen eye for measurements (Just ask the folks who once delivered a sofa to me and replaced it 3 times because I could tell the back sides weren’t even...I went to their warehouse and each and every sofa was off by 1/16 of an inch...it drove me nuts). We saw Lisa’s Orthopedist on 8/29 and he confirmed by x-ray that it has increased. We will continue with her leg brace and shoe lifts and watch closely. He told me if it worsens by .2 cm we will have to discuss surgery indepth. In 2012 it worsened by .3, this year has seen the same changes .3. It seems small till you add it all up. In happy news Rachel got her braces off.

I wanted to post Rachel’s movie night. This was the weekend before she got the concussion. She picked A Bug’s Life. The Friday before Pete found this completely intact butterfly at work...no longer living. He brought it home to have as part of our theme. It is such a beautiful specimen I can’t bear to get rid of it. Rachel wore her butterfly shirt in honor of her theme as well. I love how the children plan, organize, shop and prepare...that really is our activity for our movie nights, other than the obvious...the MOVIE!

The menu:
Flik’s Fried Chicken
Atta’s Ants on a Log (I LOVE these)
Heimlich’s Caterpillar Grapes
Bug Berries (Blueberries)
Crescent Coccons
Manny’s Munchy, Crunchy Leaves (we spread them out on a tray as if the caterpillars were crawling through)
Dot’s Dots (M&M’s)
Beetle Juice

As you see we had a lot of fun and enjoyed some delicious food!

I can not let Alexa see that fried chicken or she'll be asking to go to your house for dinner! Rachel did an great job!

I hope Lisa's leg issues don't become any worse than they already are. I'd hate for a surgery to be in order. I'll be praying she can avoid that.

I also hope Rachel recovers so that you don't need any extra medical appts. The last thing you need to do is add more to your agenda. However, speech and OT certainly won't hurt in any way.

We went to Water Country USA yesterday. We got free military tickets so only had to pay for $15 for parking. And we packed a picnic lunch so we could eat healthy and afford to eat. It was a very fun day but I injured my toe. I took my aqua socks off for a break and the skin under my big toe has layers upon layers scraped off of it :( Both kids have chaffing from their swimsuits. But I know we'd all go back in a heartbeat -- well, the kids and I would. Introvert dh did not enjoy the day.

Today I took school supplies in. The kids stayed home with dh (he has a few days of leave). I was actually glad they didn't come b/c it gave me time to chat with the teacher. She's so nice and we get along quite well. The rest of today is piano and riding lessons. Tomorrow is a baseball game -- Tides AAA. It's the last game of the season so there will be fireworks. DH is staying home but I'm going with my sister and the kids along w/ her boyfriend and his grandson. Sunday and Monday we have no plans, and Tues school starts.

I hope you have a restful weekend :)
