I know it's a little early, but has anyone thought about us getting something made for our cruise group. I'm talking about special lanyards or something. I've seen posts on other crusies about have a cruise specific lanyard made.

I don't know anything about them or how to go about it, but thought it was a neat idea. I can see all of us with black lanyards with bright green writing on it.

Just a thought.

My wife was just telling me that the recommended tips for two people for the 14 day cruise is $336.00, does this sound correct, or does it seem a little low?

This is correct, though you'll find you'll want to tip more...at least I always do. When I'm doing my budget I 'round up' a bit in the tip department.

I was on the lanyard distribution team.:goodvibes

Its a great idea, our last cruise had shirts made, but I like the lanyard idea. It amazed me how many dis'ers were onboard, it was nice being able to recognize people even if they don't post often.

I have my lanyard hanging over my desk right now...

Happy Easter, cruisemates! :)

To think... next year we'll be on our cruise already... eating like crazy and having a blast. :goodvibes

Where are you staying the night before with DVC? WDW or Vero?

Mike

WDW I am sure. We would like to get a day or two at the parks but it might not happen. :confused3 Next year is a special year for us in that because of our years of service we get 8 weeks vacation. :cheer2: We will be able to use them all but more than 3 weeks at a time may be difficult to make happen. :headache: We'll see.

Hi everyone,
I think that we will be joining in on this cruise and the first Med sailing right after. It is not official yet, but we are leaning pretty strongly towards it. We were going to go on the first Baltic, but decided on these instead.

I was on the 2007 EB Med repo, and it had to be my favorite cruise we've taken, so I was really wanting to go again. It will probably be my DH and DS who will be 7 then. We have 3 other kids (DS17, DD15 and DD13 at time of sailing), but they will not be able to go and grandparents will stay with them.

It looks like only one port is different than the last repo, being Portugal instead of Tenerife. We are really happy with that, and LOVED Cadiz and Gibraltar! The only problem with this sailing is setting our clocks forward an hour every night for like 7 nights in a row. It was like slow torture. LOL!

Oh, I forgot to add that I stayed in the cabin next door to the blog listed on the first page, the davidsondrifters. They were so nice, and I loved all their pics...brought back memories!

All the more reason to take the WB back next fall to gain them back! That's my plan! :goodvibes

Hope you join us!

Hi Michelle... welcome from another one... :yay::yay::yay:

Everyone here is wondering about how the seas were... and was it cold when you were crossing??? I know it's a month earlier... Just wondered how it was when you went... How was the weather? What did you think of the 6 days at sea???

Would LOVE to see any pics you have...

Hi everyone!
In doing a cost/night analysis of our currently booked cruise compared to the two transatlantics we are seriously considering this cruise.

Has anyone flown out of Newark or PHL on previous transatlantic cruises that can speak of the prices?

Based on averages taken from poster incognito's website (she has somewhere around 60+ cruises under her belt), I estimated the following per person:

$51.33 Restaurant Server
$37.50 Restaurant Assistant Server
$13.00 Head Server
$50.75 Stateroom Host/Hostess

That gives a total of about $152.58 per person.

My wife was just telling me that the recommended tips for two people for the 14 day cruise is $336.00,
does this sound correct, or does it seem a little low?

Thanks so much, I am pretty sure we will because we loved it so much before! You are going to do both? That sounds wonderful, but I don't know if I can afford the airfare to do both...well that, and DH will be short on hours if we do the first Med too.

The seas were rough at times, but it never bothered me or DH or DS who was 4 at the time. But, we have never gotten sea sick on a cruise either. I remember mentioning it to one of the theater cast memebers, and they mentioned how hard it was to perform in the shows when it was like that, especially in the forward of the ship. I never saw them bobble, but sometimes the curtains sure were swaying.
I know that not many people were up at the pools, and those that were, had wave pools to themselves sometimes. That looked fun.

The pirate party, no one was up on deck 10 because it was so windy. I also got up early to take pictures and video of the sunrise, and being at the forward of the ship in front of the basketball court and feeling scared the wind would rip my camera from my hands, I could hardly breathe. I think that only one deck party was postponed, or moved indoors (can't remember) during the whole cruise. It was good to have a jacket.

I still LOVED the cruise, and would go again in a second...wait a sec, I am going again. LOL! The cruise was so empty as well...don't know how it will be this time being a month earlier, and I don't know how it will fit with spring breaks, but if it was like last time, it was worth the implement weather at times. The weather at ports was always awesome...I remember it never interfering with any excursions.
I loved having 6 days at sea, but I love sea days! DH and I are actually looking forward to that. We also love the extra shows and entertainment they add in on the longer voyages.

I will try and post pics soon, does anyone have any requests? Pics around the ship, or ports?

Here's a cut & paste from Disneycruise.com FAQs:

What about gratuities?

It is customary to give gratuities in recognition of service, which you will most likely be treated to in abundance aboard the ship. As a guideline, may we suggest the following:

Per Guest per cruise 3-Night 4-Night 7-Night
Dining Room Server $12.00 $16.00 $28.00
Dining Room Asst. Server $9.00 $12.00 $21.00
Dining Room Head Server $3.00 $4.00 $7.00
Stateroom Host/Hostess $12.00 $16.00 $28.00
Dining Manager Your Discretion
Room Service Your Discretion
Palo Gratuity included
Vista Spa & Salon Your Discretion
Babysitting Gratuity not expected
Shore Excursions Optional; not included in shore excursion price.
For your convenience, a 15% gratuity is automatically added to bar, beverage, wine and deck service tabs. All gratuities can be charged to your room charge.

Personally, I'd love to see all the pictures you have the patience to post! :yay:

Failing that, I'd like to see some port pictures.

Thanks so much for sharing them! :flower3:

I see a lot of people are booking flights independently. I have booked our flights with Disney via a travel agent and it seems (at this early time anyway) to be way cheaper than trying to book the flights separately.

Im wondering if its because we are flying out of Canada?!?!?!:confused3

I'd appreciate any comments or thoughts.

Thanks!

When did you book the cruise? I think the first few days this cruise was open for booking, the prices for flights were very inexpensive.

Right now I'm looking to fly into either Newark or Philadelphia from Barcelona the day we disembark. Historically, rates are no more than $500/person. I'll be sitting and waiting for rates to be released for that day.

I'll probably wait on our flight to MCO until about 3 or 4 months out from next April only because we'll probably be flying Airtran from PHL.

BTW, I got connecting 10s yesterday for this cruise. Sweet deal, too. I can't believe what a great price this is!

Michelle2 - My husband and I have been enjoying your trip report :surfweb:. Thanks for reposting your report link.

Anyone know when they'll start releasing excursion options?

I'm hoping to arrange for a flight through London as there is one Phoenix non-stop to London each day....I sure don't want to have to take THREE planes to get there. But we'll see what pricing is later on. Since I'm booked on the WB also, I'll be able to buy a round trip ticket and do the second leg five months later. :thumbsup2

And here's hoping....for ALL of us...that the economy doesn't cause us to have to change our plans. :grouphug:
