Does anyone who did the last TA know if they offered the Tux rental? I am thinking I want to do this for hubby and my son (do they do them for kids - he is 12 and wears lg/xl in boys?) I think this will save on room/hassle for our before and after trips to not have to drag all the stuff with us for formal night for the "men"

Krisann

I want to know this too, we will rent for DH if possible. For ds7 we buy them new off of Ebay for 30 bucks he has just outgrown his. Renting does save so much on luggage and hassle and with 7 night pricing we think it's not expensive when you figure having to get your own cleaned and pressed all the time. Please post if you find out something. Would love to know availability and pricing for the TA.

We would LOVE to do back-to-back, unfortunately DS's school would probably report us to child protective services here in CT! lol

I have learned to be very persuasive over the years to get trip approvals :) We have a rule here but my kids are getting an exemption since it really is a cultural experience. It will be way harder for Dh to get job coverage to take this much time off.

Splash Uno is a great idea :) My family loves games too.

yes we love it - we have one that is in a floating tray that is fun but bulky. I found a set through that are smaller and on a key chain type hook This is what I will be bringing for the cruise.

Just catching up on some reading on this thread and on the webside. Thnings are looking fantastic!
Did notice our name wasn't on the Fish Extenders list. Can who ever is updating it please make sure were added. We, too will plan on doing on gift per stateroom in the FE.
I think we are going to start booking our Flounders daycare time this weekend for our DD2. Our other DD14, well we probably wont see much of her except at meals.

Thanks - It may seem funny but the one and only thing I really want is to book tea. Hubby and I love tea and I am hoping we have more chances since this cruise has more sea days. Everything else I can take it or leave it.

Krisann - Are you saying you prefer PALO's TEA over PALO's Brunch and PALO's Dinner? I have only ever had PALO's Brunch one time - it was okay, but I preferred PALO's dinner much more. Would love to hear your thought on PALO's TEA.

For us yes we much prefer tea - it is just a nice time, something we cannot get anywhere else on the cruise. Next we like brunch, but did not even do dinner on on the PC cruise - the only thing I miss is the after dinner drink that I love so much (hmmm I wonder can you go to the bar and order one of those without eating there?)

I enjoy doing brunch with the Dis group - but dinner we can take it or leave it- we really like eating in the dining room each night and feel that we get food that is really good without paying the extra $50 for dinner at Palo - I can spend that in the spa or on BINGO!

I know many enjoy Palo for dinner and we are in the minority but that is our personal preference.

someone who had booked AA flights using points had mentioned that an AA rep had suggested switching to Iberia. Was that just to save points? We were able to get the 20k per leg mile savers flights from bcn to jfk so we should be good right? or would there still be a reason we might not want to take AA to jfk?

You think perhaps I also have an affinity for that scroll & ship design?

Lynne, LOVE them!! Have you been looking through an old box of pictures? You are changing your avatar pretty often...

I think it is 00:01 Eastern Time (Orlando). So, 11:01 pm for us.

Still working on which excursions to book.

Guess I will try for a Palo, too, while I'm at it, and then look for someone to sit with (or eat alone, I'm comfortable with that - lived in cities with families before and got used to it).

There's still some snow on the ground from Thursday - it usually doesn't stay around this long. And occasional flakes keep falling.

OK, PLEASE do not eat by yourself!! Call me if you have a problem. I will be more than happy to join you! :rotfl:

I am also on pins and needles. I probably won't wait up until Midnight tonight though. I the early to bed, early to rise sort.

I've always been afraid that if I didn't book right away, the ones I want would be gone already. OTOH, I'm usually up anyway. So, I'll be booking at 1101 central time. Can't wait!!

How fun! I've been tempted to look at the price of the MED ... :)

DON'T! If you're tempted to look, you'll be tempted to book! I've looked and it's a great price (and I'm still tempted) and I could probably get off work but I can't make myself do it. But I've already paid airfare. It would be just a bit more. But the port intensive itinerary is at the end. I'll be tired going back to work. But it's such a good price. But there are other trips I want to save for... B2B on the Dream in 2011 being one of them. I can't make up my mind!!! It's that stupid single supplement. If I didn't have to pay that (twice), I wouldn't hesitate.

How early do people want to do this? Is 9:30 too early? Too late? Just right? I figured some people want to sleep in :rotfl:. We can do the exchange (and some chatting, I hope!) over coffee at the Cove Cafe. I'd like to go along with Woody's great suggestion and do it on days 3, 6, 8, 10 and 13 of the cruise (day 1 being Sat. 4/10).

What does everyone think?

Dee, hope books are not required. I just may bring my Kindle and join you if I get out and about early enough.

I, too, thought brunch was just ok. Never been to dinner though. I think I'll like that better. Dee has us booked for tea already and I'm looking forward to that, too. Are you going to try tea this time out?

...Have you been looking through an old box of pictures? You are changing your avatar pretty often...

DON'T! If you're tempted to look, you'll be tempted to book!...I can't make up my mind!!! ...

Other people have their kids as their avatar, so I thought I'd put my kid (picture, that is) on there. The previous one was me at 17. I'm sure I will change it several more times. I am a prototypical Gemini.

"If you're tempted to look, you'll be tempted to book!" :cool1:

"I can't make up my mind" - that's why I'm booked BTB EB TA & Med, Jan 2011 PC repo, Feb 2011 Dream, and May 2011 Alaska. What if I could get the FL rates? You could call me Woody or grlzmom.

For those using, or considering the use of Air Miles to fly home ... read on ...
While everyone else's situations will vary, the moral of the story is ... if you are redeeming air miles and have to upgrade (spend more points), consider checking with your Reward Miles airline, to see if they can suggest an alternate partner airline. I did not realize Iberia was a partner of AA.

--Steven Long :surfweb:

Thanks for the info. We are flying home from Madrid to Orlando on AA miles, but we've been locked in on those flights for many months now. I wonder what it will be like flying on Iberia? Could be a lot nicer than AA...we flew on AirFrance a few times b/c they are partnered w/ Continental (I think its them) and it was tres nice!

For us yes we much prefer tea - it is just a nice time, something we cannot get anywhere else on the cruise.
Krisann

So Disney doesn't do teatime at all during the cruise except at Palo? What a bummer! Some other lines do it once a day or a few choice times each cruise. Do you know how often does Palo hold tea?

Millepie, a dis-er on Creative dis-sign did this for me for a door magnet. Thought I would share it.

I would love to be called Woody! or Lynne! Most I can go on is 1/year. And I'm slowly going to be spreading it out to maybe every other year. I don't know if my DGD will let me get away with it, though. She already says she's going with me on the TA. She doesn't realize it's during school. And since she's not doing that great, she stays home! Unless there's some nice teacher going who would help her with her reading... :lmao:

Belle, that's great! Thanks for posting them. I have such a hard time keeping up with this thread, I can't make it to the main DCL forum very often and I can't tell you the last time I've been on the Creative DISign boards. Good to know someone is keep track over there for us.

Formal Tea is held at Palo on Sea Days - limited seating - you can purchase tea in Cove Cafe that is just like the tea in Palo but it is not the same as tea up in Palo - I love the cocunut macoorons!

Krisann

Wow, you're lucky! I've been waiting to hear my DCL air arrangements and when I called, they told me to call back 60 days prior (on Feb 11) to get my info. It's getting frustrating because I'm the only one who DCL hasn't contacted! :confused3

How did you get your itinerary? Was it mailed to you?

I was on facebook so heard the e-mail come in when we got it. Within minutes I got a phone call alerting me to the impending arrival of the e-mail. She was pleased and surprised that I got it before she called me.

If you are not getting info, can you ask to speak to a supervisor?

Those who think everyone else has gotten their DCL flight information, you are not alone. I think the suites, who had a 120 day cancellation policy, have theirs, those of us in steerage, who have a 90 day cancelation policy, haven't hit the 90 day yet, so they can't book us on air until that passes, or they might get stuck holding the bag. I bet it won't be too long now before we hear.

We are in steerage.

hmmm I wonder can you go to the bar and order one of those without eating there?

--I love that as well, and forget it's name. Well, they DO have a bar with bar stools. The Manager of Palo's is usually in Rockin' Bar D on embarkation day, so that will be a good question to ask (can we get it elsewhere, or do we belly up to the Palo's Bar?).

--I originally booked on AA, but only did so within the past few weeks, so I was not able to get in on the 20,000 point level (I am envious that you did). I was required to cough up 60,000 points per person to fly coash with AA. By going with Iberia, we only paid 50,000 per person, which got us Business Class. I am glad that option was available for me, as I'd likely develop FLAT BUTT real fast in coach.

If you are satisfied with your current seats and points use, you should be okay. On the other hand, if you like the idea of business class, you might call AA.com to see if this option is available to you. Ask them about flying Iberia Business Class, cost$ associated with any such ticket change, as well as mileage/points difference.

I, too, thought brunch was just ok. Never been to dinner though. I think I'll like that better. Dee has us booked for tea already and I'm looking forward to that, too. Are you going to try tea this time out?

--With 14 days at hand, there's probably a good chance we'll try a TEA. I understand it's been compared to a nice, relaxing, "social event". PM me and my DW if you want to link up during the cruise for TEA. We probably won't book in advance.

"I can't make up my mind" - that's why I'm booked BTB EB TA & Med
--Sounds like a GRRREAT idea for an official theme name for the BTB cruise ... with LIME GREEN lanyards!

We are flying home from Madrid to Orlando on AA miles, but we've been locked in on those flights for many months now. I wonder what it will be like flying on Iberia? Could be a lot nicer than AA

--The carrier itself isn't as important to me, as compared to Business Class, with the wide, reclining seats and personal video screens.

:( not the same. Have you cruised on other lines Krisann? Holland America & others do "high tea" for everyone (no extra charge) at least once a cruise and they have regular tea every day. Too bad DCL doesn't do the same, but I'm sure there are lots of extra stuff that DCL does that other lines don't. :goodvibes
