Somewhat hijacking here, sorry... but has anyone successfully used something like diluted acetone/nail polish remover to take off the paint of their MB+? Interested in customizing mine but I think with the design on it I will need to take off the original paint.

I ordered one online recently through the My Disney Experience app, because I had an upcoming stay at a Disney resort (which means you get a discount on the Magic Bands which are available.) You personalize it as part of the ordering process. There is a limit on the number of characters allowed in the personalization. The personalization goes on the inside, on the "puck" (not strap) part of the Magic Band.

I haven't ordered through shop Disney, so I don't know if you can personalize from there.

You can't, it's through MDE only and only with a hotel reservation.

I haven't tried to actively remove it, but similar paints survive isopropyl alcohol and acetone without a lot of elbow grease, and I've definitely had one of my MB dropped in acetone with no ill effects on the paint.

You can create custom bands at Disney sprints in D-Tech you can add your name, different art styles, you can do a bunch of different things.

If you want to repaint a MB, a safer method would be to first use a neutral color over the existing color and then paint whatever design you wanted. Harsh chemicals may also damage the plastic and then the band is ruined.

I ended up using a 800 grit dry/wet sand paper and by hand over 5 minutes successfully removed the paint, surface is smooth as well.

Yes, that works too. With harsh chemicals, you just never know how the plastic material will react.
