Nobody EXPECTS the Spanish Reposition!!! Taking the Magic Back to the Med 4/10/10

Thanks again Lynne.

It's my idea to drive to WDW from our house (about 2 hours) and then stay at WDW the night before the cruise. We also board our dog in Sanford, FL so that's in the area as well.

Call me crazy but I just want to be totally immersed in Disney!!! So we're staying at the AS Movies resort on the 9th and then again when we fly back to Orlando on the 27th. Unusual situation, but my late father's ex-wife is a castmember so she was able to get us a pretty good rate even though the 9th is a blackout date (b/c of Easter holidays) for special rates.

We spoke w/ some folks at the resort about leaving our car on property through the cruise and it looks like that is going to work - it was not easy trying to get that done.

Love Bunco! If we need dice I think I have a set that I can bring. I used to play with some friends once a month but I moved and now I haven't played in years.

Yeah, we'd really like to do a Palo brunch and dinner as a couple (romance and all that :lovestruc) I've heard the brunch is AMAZING so I'll keep my fingers crossed that we can get in for that.

We are also staying at WDW on the night of the 9th. DH is a castmember, so we get a good rate, and we sprang for the Wilderness Lodge (we never spring for the deluxe hotels, but since it's one night, we made the leap). We actually were not blocked out for the 50% discount BUT the rates are much higher for that night, so even with the discount, it's still pricy.

I liked the idea of one FE gift per stateroom from those participating. What does everyone think?

It can be official if you want it to be!

Ok on the FE items - I hope we do not limit it to one family gift because I personally have already done something for everyone and I would have to scrap my plan. My understanding is that FE gifts are just that - gifts - and people can give as they see fit to those participating - you can choose to do a family gift, individual gift, children only, etc. but maybe I am wrong - not sure. On the WB PC we had teams for each day and people went together to provide items - some of those were family, some individuals - some adults - but then others still did things on their own.

Just my thoughts . . .

Krisann

I agree with you Krisann, I think people should do whatever they are comfortable doing, no expectations. Whatever is in the FE, makes my kidlets so happy everytime they check it:goodvibes

So, on a 14 night cruise...How many times can we make reservations for Palo?

Also, is anyone staying in Spain post-cruise??

We've planned a few days in Madrid and Seville (Barcelona is not my most favorite place so we're getting outta there)
We are.

Barcelona, Toledo, and Madrid.

We've been to Seville, and loved it.

OMG great news here!!!

DH just found out about a new cast member deal for our cruise. We just upgraded all three of our cabins to Verandah Guarantee cabins (from Cat 10s) AND we SAVED MONEY because the new rate is cheaper than our old rate for the 10s!

If anyone were looking for Cat 10s on Deck 7, three of them just became available :)

Stephanie - I am so jealous of what you can do with graphics. I haven't gotten the clip art aspect working yet (haven't tried too terribly; no instruction I've gotten has been very clear. Well, one was, but it called for Word '08 and I'm still operating with '04).

That coin is really neat - so clear.

But is what you were going to work on to surprise me?

How did Maddie's eardrum end up?

Lynne

I could not do any of this in Word.....I would LOSE my mind!!!

I am an awful teacher of anything so I probably would not be much help. I do however have lots of files saved as PNG's (which means you can layer them on top of each with no background in any program)

So here is what I was going to work on. When you posted about the donald running makes you feel like running after the ship...this is the first thought that came to my mind.

All I could picture was the other characters waving good-bye and Donald running after the ship! :rotfl:

I did it really quick earlier so the edges on Donald are not great. I was not really expecting anyone to ever use it...just playing around.

Madison's ear is a mess! She has been miserable!!! Hoping in the next few days it will get better!

Lynne, you're creating in Word?! Oh my...you must have a lot of patience. :)

We plan to do one FE gift per stateroom. Wish I could tell you what we are creating! You'll know soon enough.

Is everyone who's staying in Orlando staying at the airport pre-cruise? We're staying on-property though it should be pretty crazy with Easter week.
- A fair number are staying at the Country Inn & Suites in Port Canaveral - great rate ($62 w/tax) from Priceline
Dr. Dave and I are in Disney World for our Disney wedding prior to the cruise. Easter week and Spring Break crowds cannot stop THIS ceremony... :lmao::dance3: We are/I am not crazed from planning because we know Disney will do a great job.
Then, on April 9th, we are staying 1 night at Cape Canaveral's Country Inn and Suites courtesy of that same great $50 + tax rate many of us booked through Priceline. We plan to reach CI+S by 8:00pm. Both of us are interested in attending a pre-cruise DIS meet at the hotel!

And this might be a stupid question, but when can non-past passengers sign up for Palo reservations?
We visited Spain for two weeks in 2008 (partly for work) with 6 days in Barcelona & 1 day in Montserrat, so we are flying to Paris or Dublin from Barcelona on Saturday morning to continue our honeymoon elsewhere in Euro-land. If you plan to stay in Spain, let us know if you have questions about touring Barcelona, Madrid, Toledo or Segovia.

We are first-time cruisers--I know we can start booking Palo (& excursions) 75 days out.

Hi me again, game time and days sound great to us. DH loves to play the wii.
We love playing our Nintendo Wii! Should we bring our own Wii games (e.g., Mario Party 8, etc.)? What Wii games are available on the ship?

So, on a 14 night cruise...How many times can we make reservations for Palo?

I would like to know this as well.

I love that this thread is getting busier!

Princess M,

We'll be staying in Barcelona, Toledo, and Madrid.

We are considering a day-trip to Segovia from Madrid, and hope to visit the Roman Aqueduct, Cathedral, and Alcazar.

Any recommendations on those sites, other sites, or restaurants? Thanks.

Wow, congratulations on your new deal and way to go for having verandahs :)

Yeah I posted awhile back with a questionnaire for those participating to fill out, but then was away for a bit. But we do need to make decisions for it so that people can prepare.
I have a list that I inherited, but it is probably out of date. Those that want to participate will probably have to reconfirm to me, or let me know. I will post the list I have again just in case.
I'm in!!!
So please post or send us the questionnaire.

1. With it being a longer cruise, it should only be 5 - 6 gifts TOPS. 14 is just alot of day! What does everyone think?
5 gifts to deliver sounds perfect and then for the reveal another gift sounds nice too. So in total 6 gifts.

2. Spending limits I have had on the past were usually anywhere from 15-30 bucks total for all gifts. This amount can be changed, but probably need to decide it soon.
A maximum of $30 sounds great.

3. Most people save their best gift for the end at the reveal, but not everyone makes it to the reveal, so it depends on if everyone wants to have another meet or not.
The reveal should be on a day close to the end....maybe the last sea day or something?
Last sea day is a great day to reveal the SM's.
Another meet is no problem at all.....

I do have a question about the SM's.
Is it possible that my husband and I are just one SM or do we have to split up and be just one person???

The questionnaire is on the website.

That sound like you've got a good plan with the above (including doing couples as one SM for those who wish)

Krisann mentioned awhile back that her SM didn't show for the reveal - I would take that into consideration before signing up.

I can imagine it's like having an online conversation with someone and scheduling a date and then they don't show up. There you are with your final gift in hand and no one to give it to.
