Lanyards - I'd like the idea of a black or blue lanyard with white lettering.

AuntLynne - love all the graphic ideas you come up with. As I said before - I want you to teach me how you do this!!!

Secret Mickey - I also like the 5 gifts and then a reveal gift with a limit of $30 total for all 6 gifts.

door decorating contest - do we want to assume we will be judging everyone one's door that is in the group - or do we want to only judge those that want to be judged? Just curious.

Ok, I'll stop posting for a bit.

Kristi

Last cruise DH was not part of it and I felt bad so this year I signed him up - I hope maybe there is at least one other man also :confused3

My gosh, so do I! Oh yes, that would be me! :surfweb: The secret's out! :hippie:

Okay, newbie question: Can a Husband/Wife do this together as one, or should they be split? I think a guy might need hand-holding on such an agressive event as this. :lovestruc I can let DW respond to the questionnaire. (?)

I'd love to know if the Priceline rooms are 2 Q or 2 K beds?

Dh thinks that we should just book the Kid Suite but I'm all for the great rate from Priceline. ;) He doesn't want to get to the hotel from the west coast and not have enough sleeping space in the hotel room.

I just called the hotel in Port Canaveral directly and can tell you that they already had me booked into 2 Kid's suites. As we only need 1 kids suite, I changed the other one to a king room, no problem whatsoever. (So there's at least 1 kid suite still available :thumbsup2)
This is my third time using Priceline and for all of them I have called the hotel directly and put in my requests. I have yet to be denied, but I guess it is YMMV.

KrisannB is absolutely correct however in that Priceline only guarantees a room for 2 people but maybe I just keep getting lucky. To me, the price was worth the risk.

Also of note, if you do go with the $49 priceline room, the reservation does not get sent to the hotel until roughly a day later so you will have to wait a day to call the hotel and check on what they have booked you into.

HTH and good Luck,
CPC

Wow, got very busy here I see. Guess Im not the only one REALLY excited!

Anywho, we did book our air via DCL as I couldn't find anything close to the $$ they wanted on my own. We did however want to get to Orlando on the 9th, thought I could use some air miles to pay for hotel. Did one cruise last year with no lugguage, do NOT want to do that again! :sad2:

DCL wanted $150 diviation fee to do this BUT instead, for $135 the 3 of us could stay at the All Star Resort and get all transfers included, so thats what we are doing.

BTW I do not have my flight info yet either. We are cat 12 gty.

Thanks to all for the advice on taxi's in Gibraltar. We were of the opinion to stick with Disney as Europe is very new to us, but clearly to see everything at a reasonable rate, taxi is the way to go!

Can anyone tell us if a couple of hours is enough time to visit the Kennedy Space Centre? Assuming we are at the port fairly early in the day, we thought we may be able to take it in. I am concerned though it should be a full day thing and a couple of hours won't do it justice and would be a waste of money.

Thanks!
Eleasa, Jim and DS Raine (8yrs at cruise time)

Stephanie - I am so jealous of what you can do with graphics. I haven't gotten the clip art aspect working yet (haven't tried too terribly; no instruction I've gotten has been very clear. Well, one was, but it called for Word '08 and I'm still operating with '04).

That coin is really neat - so clear.

But is what you were going to work on to surprise me?

How did Maddie's eardrum end up?

Lynne

Can we request them to be? Seriously? Oh & I don't support the Steinbrenners!

As for the details on the FE...

I heard in the past that each participating family provides (at least) one item to each stateroom that signs up as part of the FE exchange? I like this idea! Is this how we plan on doing it?

I totally agree!!! That would be SO funny!!! Easier for us "shoppers", too! :) Can we make this official? (And not let Gavin & Brooklyn know!) :rolleyes1

I liked the idea of one FE gift per stateroom from those participating. What does everyone think?

It can be official if you want it to be!

Nothing official has been made for the 1st meet as of yet, just talk.

As for Secret Mickey. It is like a Secret Santa. You will be assigned someone. They will have filled out a little form that has their likes, etc. I think there is info on the website. You will drop off little gifts throughout the cruise and then towards the end we will have a meet where your SM is revealed.

Thanks Brooklyn.

That sounds fun. It's for grownups too right? I think I would like to do it.

We have not set the first meet and greet yet - we are working on those details so you are not missing any info for that yet.

Secret Mickey is kinda like a secret pal. You deliver small gifts to ONE person who you will know before hand and you will find out some things about them like favorite character, etc. and you will drop them off throughout the cruise (longer cruises it is not everyday - usually a money limit and then one gift at the reveal! On the PC WB none of the people we had showed up for the reveal (ones we gave to - except I think my daughters') so that was not as much fun for me.

Does that make sense? We have not set the rules up for ours on this cruise yet.

Krisann

It does make sense. Thank you Krisann!

Did you get your questions answered?

I saw a couple of responses to the Secret Mickey part; do you know the general concept of FE exchange?

We haven't set the parameters for ours, yet. It may be everyone in one group (ugh!) or smaller groups. Tossing around cut-off dates for sign-up so people will know for how many people to prepare.

Lynne

Thanks Lynne. I do know how the FE exchange goes - I think Secret Mickey is a little more my pace since there won't be gifts given each day. FE seems like a lot to keep up with.

Do I still have time to fill out the questionnaire?

I would probably also like to join to bunco group.

Thanks to everyone for your responses to my questions. This thread has grown SO much since I first posted a few months ago and I guess I was feeling like I missed the boat (pun intended LOL) ;)

The tenative plan about meeting 3-3:45 on embarkation day sounds great - it has my vote.

Is everyone who's staying in Orlando staying at the airport pre-cruise? We're staying on-property though it should be pretty crazy with Easter week. :upsidedow

Here's a recent photo of us:

IMG_1428.jpg

We're pretty easy to spot - there just aren't that many 5ft gals who are married to 6'4 line-backer types.

Also, is anyone staying in Spain post-cruise??

We've planned a few days in Madrid and Seville (Barcelona is not my most favorite place so we're getting outta there)

And this might be a stupid question, but when can non-past passengers sign up for Palo reservations?

Oh my, wow, gone a month and behind 100 pages. Ok, I guess I need 10 posts to pm anyone so I'll be on here awhile. DH and I would like to do the fish extenders as one please. May we also be put on the dinner wait list and the brunch list.
Thanks, dennisgirl

Kennedy Space Center is a full day affair. You're wasting some of your money if you only have a couple hours. Personal opinion....I'm full of them!

I have my hubby answer the questions if I do not already know the answer and then I usually do the shopping for him :)

Ok on the FE items - I hope we do not limit it to one family gift because I personally have already done something for everyone and I would have to scrap my plan. My understanding is that FE gifts are just that - gifts - and people can give as they see fit to those participating - you can choose to do a family gift, individual gift, children only, etc. but maybe I am wrong - not sure. On the WB PC we had teams for each day and people went together to provide items - some of those were family, some individuals - some adults - but then others still did things on their own.

Just my thoughts . . .

Krisann

Hi me again, game time and days sound great to us. DH loves to play the wii. I even bought him one for fathers day after the 2007 TA but of course he hardly ever plays it. He sure did play it again on the 2008 PC and last year on the western cruise but not at home.
I'd love to join the book club but I have a kindle. So I'd like to sit with the knitters/crocheters whenever they meet.
DH-Dennis would love to join the bunco group. He's also planning to play bingo, he wants to keep busy.

- I have a feeling very few have even filled out the questionnaire - you're not too late. It's in planning stage right now.

- Will put you on the Bunco list

- A fair number are staying at the Country Inn & Suites in Port Canaveral - great rate ($62 w/tax) from Priceline

- I'm pretty sure you're at the 75-day mark for online booking. But definitely check in the designated sign-up spot (it will be listed on the Navigator they give you on boarding) - usually Rockin' Bar D or Wavebands (the boat is well marked). I was reading that it is easier to get a dinner reservation than one for brunch (more time allotted, for one thing).

Lynne

Auntlynn: Yep, you are likely to see both DH and I in cove cafe early, mid and late in the day. I am sometimes up on deck at sunrise, just to enjoy the quiet of the morning. Oh, and you know those plants and bees would get along just fine without me for those extra med days . . .

I just called the hotel in Port Canaveral directly and can tell you that they already had me booked into 2 Kid's suites. As we only need 1 kids suite, I changed the other one to a king room, no problem whatsoever. (So there's at least 1 kid suite still available :thumbsup2)

Thank you, CPC!!!! I Priceline'd the room and called 5 minutes later. I must not have scrolled down and read your last paragraph. ;) Anyway, they already had our ressie *and* they had us in a Kid's Suite! :cheer2: This is perfect! What a great tip! Dh will be thrilled with the PL rate!! :cool1:

ETA: Thanks for giving up the extra Kid's Suite! We really appreciate it! I don't know how many they have but I would have been bummed in a single room. ;)

Lynne

Thanks again Lynne.

It's my idea to drive to WDW from our house (about 2 hours) and then stay at WDW the night before the cruise. We also board our dog in Sanford, FL so that's in the area as well.

Call me crazy but I just want to be totally immersed in Disney!!! So we're staying at the AS Movies resort on the 9th and then again when we fly back to Orlando on the 27th. Unusual situation, but my late father's ex-wife is a castmember so she was able to get us a pretty good rate even though the 9th is a blackout date (b/c of Easter holidays) for special rates.

We spoke w/ some folks at the resort about leaving our car on property through the cruise and it looks like that is going to work - it was not easy trying to get that done.

Love Bunco! If we need dice I think I have a set that I can bring. I used to play with some friends once a month but I moved and now I haven't played in years.

Yeah, we'd really like to do a Palo brunch and dinner as a couple (romance and all that :lovestruc) I've heard the brunch is AMAZING so I'll keep my fingers crossed that we can get in for that.

I totally agree. I think that people should do however many they want. I was going to go on and say that in a previous post, but I was rambling and cut it out. LOL

Hey everyone! We leave for WDW tomorrow, so I'm about to fall even further behind on the thread, but it's for a good cause!

Hope to catch up with everyone when we return :)
