Ok, so happily, DH added himself, dd18, dd8 (very close to 9) and dd7 to this cruise. No btb with the MED for them (dh call schedule), but happy to have them on the TA. So, anyone with princesses who wants their girls to hang with other DIS princesses, let me know!

YEAH! Brooklyn will be so happy for more girls her age! :thumbsup2

Holy Moly People!

I drop off the boards for 1 month and this thread completely blows up!

It took me a couple of days but I have finally caught up, my goodness. Needless to say I have a few thing to add. ;) Bear with my if I don't remember who was the OP on some of these topics.

(dee47?) Knitting in the Cove -- Can a simple crocheter join you? Coffee and yarn are always a fun combo!

State Room Tour -- I would love to participate is you don't have anyone in our catagory already signed up. DH and I are staying in a Navigator's Verandah Category 07, #6136.

FEs -- I signed up my family (5 adults, 3 staterooms) WAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY back, but it looks like we fell of the ranks. I will post all of our info again seperately.

I also wanted to throw out some thanks to all those who have given this thread new life and taken up the mantle of organizing. I certainly appricate it!

5 adults, 3 cabins -- We would all like to participate in the FE

Lauren & DH (Rich) - 6136
SIL (Melissa) - 6014
FIL (Tom) & MIL (Montienne) - Cat. 11 GTY

Thanks Michelle2 and auntlynne!

ABSOLUTELY!!! Yay! :banana::banana::banana::banana:

And -- Good To Have You Back!!!

Awesome, thanks! I will be sure to pack a project.

A question for those who have visited Barcelona in the past. I have seen lots of mentions of taking taxis to tour Gibraltar. Would you recommend doing something similar for Barcelona? My DMIL has mobility issues, but we still want to see the highlights of the city. Thoughts?

If anyone in Gibraltar wants to do the taxi tour Brooklyn mentioned, I'd love to split a cab and cancel my booked excursions. I like to walk and explore a lot -- fair warning :)

-I hope that wasn't during an Albert & Seymour show! That would have been dangerous. Caution to all - if Albert & Seymour are performing during our cruise ... MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT ARRIVE LATE FOR THE SHOW, and do not leave early. You have been warned!

It was a stand up comedy group. Yes, he spent 5 minutes on me and Harry Potter and then kept bringing it up when they did audience participation.:rotfl2:

There isn't a formal library on board. The believe there are some books and magazines in the Cove Cafe to borrow, but I think it is pretty limited.

Hey, we can have a book exchange!!!

This has been suggested before, and is a good idea. Does anyone have suggestions as to how it could be handled? I am not a bookworm, but I figured it MIGHT make sense if we set up a preset time (morning?) to meet in a public room lounge during sea days. I would suggest a GIVE-N-TAKE. Put a book on the table for someone else to borrow, and take one from the pile (please submit a book, if you wish to borrow a book). PERHAPS, this could serve as an informal daily meet-n-greet ... for possible amendements to the Mini-Navigator? What does everyone think?

Also, I have been in touch with DCL Special Functions. I wanted to see if we could get a room set aside for various gatherings. I specifically asked for two events:
1) Initial gathering for DISsers, 3PM - 4PM, embarkation day. I know it was suggested to meet in the atrium lobby (among other places), but DCL suggests we meet in Promenade Louge (Deck 3 mid-ship). It is public, and will be open at the time (as will the bar, I believe). Special Functions can notify the ship of our intentions, and to expect a congregation.
2) Daily Game Day - 1:00PM, Diversions, during sea days: Diversions is a pub, deck 3 FWD, with Wii sports, boards games, etc. Diversions normally opens at 12:00 Noon daily. Past Navigators suggests events are held during sea-days at around 2PM most days, with one event being held at 1PM. Obviously, if there is a conflict, we'd have to bail on the room. This too, could serve as an unofficial meet-n-greet. Again, Special Functions can notify the ship of our intentions, and to expect a congregation.
What does everyone think?

I like it.

Promenade Lounge is where I went for my so-far-only DIS Meet & Greet. It's what I'd recommend.

Diversions has the tables and chairs. I could see somewhere around 1:30 or 2 pm. Short sleep nights (due to clock change) means later breakfast and then later lunch. But some folks have early dinner and will need to rest and change.

We did a book exchange on the WB PC in 2008 - I will see if I can find out how we did it.

As for the games that sounds good - BUT a couple of things:

1 - it depends on what event is going on in Diversions as to if we would have to get out and how much room we are taking up. We hung out there A LOT during the PC WB cruise and we stayed either on the small side where the chess/checker tables are or at one of the booths in the back. We even were allowed to stay during the beer tasting - we did not participate but were able to hear and it was interesting - we do not like beer so we would have never done it but we learned some interesting facts :). For events they tend to use the middle part with the tables for 2 and they are not good tables to play games on anyway.

The 1 pm playing time each sea day sounds good.

2 - on the last cruise in October I heard someone ask in there if the Wii is available at other times when there is not planned activities and was told no. It is only for use with planned activities. The kids have access to Wii's in the clubs though. But those of us who play Wii could plan on meeting up and being on teams together :) We are still trying to decide if we are bringing our Wii or not.

Despite all my obsessive planning, I really think that is one of the secrets to utilizing the DISboard: Built-in Posses. Go to an activity and you are not alone in a crowd. You've got people you've already semi-met. (I suppose it's one of the reasons people join fraternal organizations.)

Ex-pats are often chummy with others from their home country, even if they would not be so much if under normal circumstances. Southerners are known for trying to find links between themselves and people they meet - a common ground / kinship.

hmmm never thought that they were nt allowed - I know the old tv's did not have the in front connectors and the new ones do. We take our Wii to hotels and other places all the time and have never had a problem with it. We even have a travel case for it.

That helps in that decsion then :) I will still be bringing my Disney board games!

--I think what they are referring to, is that these devices cannot be physically plugged into the video display ... perhaps, because of how the satellite is hooked up. Either that, or it CAN PHYSICALLY be hooked up, but just not switched to proper VIDEO INPUT (switch to GAME PORT from SAT PORT). Anyone else?

I woke up in the middle of the night and realized that we all need to renew our passports. The kids actually need new ones as it has been 5 years. I made an appointment for Thursday and was told it will be 4-6 weeks. I also booked the priceline discounted rooms at the port, rented a car, and booked rooms for our night in boston on the way home. It finally feels like the trip isn't that far away!!!

We are looking at taking the kids on the Norweigian Pearl and would love to hear if you liked it.
First, let me put on my flame suit.

We really like the Norwegian Pearl. It's a newer ship (2006), so it has many of the newer amenities: 2-story wii in the atrium, bowling alley, rock climbing wall. An open and spacious buffet. There weren't many kids on our cruise, so they opened up the 720 degree water slide for adults.

We liked it so much we booked two future cruises on NCL.
