NoAlice?Rabbit,Hatter&Chessie Do a HolidayTrip.NEW11/27 1 More Day&I crush on Snowmen

Hurray for power being back on!!!

David as Eisenhower is great!!!

I love anything Italian! One day we will make it over there to visit the real thing!

Woo Hoo for 19 days! :cheer2:

I know and today is 18 days... Woo Hoo Hoo...:rotfl2:

Even more so - double woo hoo for Italy over Spring Break. So jealous!

I'm pretty darn excited...:goodvibes

I love your plans and I can't wait to see what you thing of Be Our Guest CS and Yachtsman. I am actually thinking of doing both of those this summer. Yachtsman is the only signature I haven't eaten at. Not sure whether to do it in June or wait for October.

I can't wait to see the inside of BOG... I'm guessing it will be really lovely... I'm really curious about Yachtsman... that and Citricos are the two Signatures I haven't eaten at... and we might try Citricos next summer...I'm planning on including lots of food porn in my trip and actually review and show food pictures this time around...;)

Is Em good about doing all her applications or do you have to give her reminders? Right before the Maryland application was due I warned Nick that if the power went out and it wasn't done I was disowning him. :rotfl2: I also just learned that Nick's verbal SAT was 10 points too low for being exempt from English 101 at Maryland. :faint: Of course, he could care less.

She's pretty good about doing her apps on time -she applied ED to the "School that must not be Named" -which I promised to respect...;) the app was due on November 1 and she she was finishing up her app on October 29 before Sandy hit (she was paying attention to the weather forecast) and she submitted everything about 2 pm and we lost power at 7....and we know how that went...:eek:0 Em is actually a nerd... in the best sense of that word...(she's a bit like the older Hermione Granger...)

That stinks about being 10 points away from English 101... and it seems like every school has its own rules...:confused3

Lemoncello. Yum. Did I spell that right? :rotfl: Love that you are still doing the movie nights. So cool.

Limon...Lemon... it tastes good either way... It's also a good/festive cocktail if you put a shot in a glass of prosecco...and if you want it to look prettty but in a lemon peel... you can do the same with grand marnier and prosecco...:thumbsup2...

Ahhhh...9 days in Italy. Florence and Rome.

Sigh. How lovely! It won't be terribly warm then but you won't have crowds either which will be magical. Jeff and I had our belated honeymoon there in early April of 06. Dying to go back.

Yes its a trade between temp and crowds... Tuscany will still be that gorgeous Olive green color though... we have to watch though cause we'll be getting close to Easter...but we should be out by 4-5 days before...It will be a little different that your belated honeymoon...with Ems and David along...;)

We had Pizza, at Pisa. Just cuz it's fun to say!

I want some pizza in Pisa in the piazza...:lmao:

Love the Pinocchio/Italy update!

Hurray for power being back on!!!

You have no idea... well actually yes you do...:thumbsup2

David as Eisenhower is great!!!

Yes he took his role quite seriously...:rolleyes1

I love anything Italian! One day we will make it over there to visit the real thing!

Yes it's hard not to admire a culture that produced such great works of art and architecture had had time to create pizza, pasta and gelato as well...

I am definitely a fan of any movie night that includes Limoncello in the theme!!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Sounds like a lot of fun! :goodvibes

Hmmm... now that's an interesting challenge... creating an appropriate adult beverage for all the Disney Movies...;)

"The school that must not be named" I love that! Nick has a reach school like that which I have only revealed to a few DISers, but none of my local friends ;)

You are so lucky to have a girl, hence far less reminders and nail biting than with a boy! I will be so glad when every single one of those apps are done. Right now I am always on edge. :rotfl: The rest need to be done by the end of the month.

Hey there Patricia!
I just spent the better part of an hour getting all caught up~
So sorry you spent all of that time with no power. I can't imagine. I go nuts after a half an hour...

I've had students on the spectrum before and they always seem to have such great insight. There was one boy in particular, every time his hand came up I couldn't call on him fast enough. He was such a deep thinker. Also had a very sweet, kind nature.
We have his sister now, while she is quite bright, she's a bit of a stinker....

Did David choose Eisenhower? He was president when I was born and he also lived in Kansas.
I love this quote from him...
Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.
Dwight D. Eisenhower

Cheers for your Italy trip. I would be so excited to be heading over to visit the real thing. For me, it's only been the pavilion in WS. :rotfl:

You do have lots of excitement coming your way next year.:goodvibes

There you don't have time to reply for some time and then it becomes all daunting because there is so much to comment on!!!

I am glad that you have power again, my family once had a weekend house that did not have electricity (my parents were refurbishing the place and subsequently electricity was being restored). But at least it was an old house that had wood burning ovens and we knew that we would be without electricity for the weekend.

Love your themed evenings with the family! What a great way to get into the mood for the vacation!

Aww...Pinocchio is one of my very favorite Disney movies!! It sounds like you had a great night!:goodvibes

I can't believe you are getting so close to your trip! Your MK plans sound really good! I can't wait to see the new Fantasyland!

So exciting to be going to Italy! I have always wanted to go there....hopefully someday!:lovestruc A couple friends just got back last week and I got to see their beautiful photos on Facebook. What a lovely time you are going to have!:)

Your day sounds really great. So jealous that you are heading to Kona for breakfast soon! :lovestruc

I hope FL is open for you and you get to see all of it!

Ahhh...your movie night makes me realize that I haven't seen Pinocchio in a really long time! Hmmm...I'll have to rectify that!

Patricia, I'm here. I don't know if I'll ever be able to catch up especially since we are going out of town this weekend to see our son and his fiance and then have to get ready for Thanksgiving, but I'm going to try. I did notice that we will miss you by 3 days...we arrive on the 6th.

Back to read...I may skim a little. ;)

****Okay, I'm back. I'll be upfront...I skipped most of the chatter.

First, and most important--well, at least in my mind (:lmao::lmao::lmao:) a cocktail at the Dawa Bar at the AK -- the Raspberry Pina Colada...very, very yummy.

I loved your trip to California and seeing all of the pictures. California is on my bucket list of places I really want to get too.

Your plans for your trip which is almost here sound terrifii. I can't wait to stay at the Beach Club on my girls trip in June (it's the only resort left that I've been dying to try; I'm just afraid I'll fall in love with it and won't be able to afford it for our 30th anniversary next year...although I'll be happy at OKW).

I promise I'm here for the rest and will keep up and hope you'll be doing a TR for me to read when I get back from our trip.

"The school that must not be named" I love that! Nick has a reach school like that which I have only revealed to a few DISers, but none of my local friends ;)

She's crazy superstitious... and I'm not even supposed to tell her grandparents...:confused3 but then again if they had their way she wouldn't be out of a 90 mile radius...;)

You are so lucky to have a girl, hence far less reminders and nail biting than with a boy! I will be so glad when every single one of those apps are done. Right now I am always on edge. :rotfl: The rest need to be done by the end of the month.

She's pretty good about all of the college stuff... she is truly a nerd in the best sense of the word... she is a little ADDish though so when she's focusing really hard on being organized in one area...like school... other stuff can go... I think her bedroom should be declared a Federal Disaster area right about now...:rolleyes1

I think there is a lot more pressure, stress and work surrounding the whole College Admissions process then there used to be... It's become a competitive sport...

Hey there Patricia!
I just spent the better part of an hour getting all caught up~
So sorry you spent all of that time with no power. I can't imagine. I go nuts after a half an hour...

Hey Anita...:goodvibes I'm reallly glad you dropped by...I miss that you don't have a trip report going... (I have to remember to get onto facebook more consistently...::yes::)

I've had students on the spectrum before and they always seem to have such great insight. There was one boy in particular, every time his hand came up I couldn't call on him fast enough. He was such a deep thinker. Also had a very sweet, kind nature.

David's teacher's love him... :) (Which makes me love them... ;) He' s doing really well... he's like a sponge and he loves to learn so much and he is so kind hearted... but he is a perfectionist and he gets upset with himself when he has a problem getting something quickly... he was getting upset with himself the other day because he could always do math in his head before and now he has to write out his steps (5th grade)... and he was getting frustrated because I think his brain goes ahead of his hand... his math teacher called not because she was upset with him but she was upset he was upset with himself...:sad2:

We have his sister now, while she is quite bright, she's a bit of a stinker....

:lmao: sorry about that...

Did David choose Eisenhower? He was president when I was born and he also lived in Kansas.
I love this quote from him...
Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.
Dwight D. Eisenhower

No they were assigned... I think his teacher thought it was interesting that they both had David in their name and she thought he might be more challenging for him then one of the other earlier Presidents that he knew about... I enjoyed learning about him...He was a really interesting person and I think the fact the a man that was the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces came to be so careful in his use of military force is pretty telling...

Love the quote... I'll have to share it with David... Funny he was born in Kansas where you live and he retired to Pennsylvania (where I live)... it really is a small world...;)

Cheers for your Italy trip. I would be so excited to be heading over to visit the real thing. For me, it's only been the pavilion in WS. :rotfl:

Yes I'm very excited... I do think we are only "allowed" to leave the country for one of the World Showcase countries though... England, France, Canada and Italy... I think if it isn't in WS-we aren't allowed to go...:rotfl2:

You do have lots of excitement coming your way next year.:goodvibes

It's a lot to look forward to...:goodvibes

There you don't have time to reply for some time and then it becomes all daunting because there is so much to comment on!!!

I am glad that you have power again, my family once had a weekend house that did not have electricity (my parents were refurbishing the place and subsequently electricity was being restored). But at least it was an old house that had wood burning ovens and we knew that we would be without electricity for the weekend.

I am so happy to have power again and I will never take it for granted again... we do have two working fireplaces... one in Eric and my bedroom and one in our living room so that did help a bit...but still... it did start to get cold...:cold:

Love your themed evenings with the family! What a great way to get into the mood for the vacation!

Thanks... and btw I hope that your birthday was lovely...:bday:

Aww...Pinocchio is one of my very favorite Disney movies!! It sounds like you had a great night!:goodvibes

It really is lovely... the animation is absolutely gorgeous... great characters... it's a little rough when the little boys get turned into donkeys... after/at Pleasure Island... someone at Disney had a bit of a wicked sense of humor when they named the entertainment complex in Orlando...:rolleyes1

I can't believe you are getting so close to your trip! Your MK plans sound really good! I can't wait to see the new Fantasyland!

It's so strange how you look forward to something for so long and then it pops up and it's only two weeks away...:thumbsup2

So exciting to be going to Italy! I have always wanted to go there....hopefully someday!:lovestruc A couple friends just got back last week and I got to see their beautiful photos on Facebook. What a lovely time you are going to have!:)

So looking forward to it...

Your day sounds really great. So jealous that you are heading to Kona for breakfast soon! :lovestruc

Yep your tr/photos convinced me I "needed" that Kona breakfast...:lmao:

I hope FL is open for you and you get to see all of it!

Yes please...:worship:

Ahhh...your movie night makes me realize that I haven't seen Pinocchio in a really long time! Hmmm...I'll have to rectify that!

Yes it is a really lovely film... just be careful of that whole Pleasure Island thing if you watch it with Bradey (the donkey thing could be upsetting-(just like Bambi's Mom's Hunter Scene is a little rough )...but still definitley worth watching... it's a gorgeous film...great characters...Pinocchio, Gepetto, the Blue Fairy, Jiminy Cricket...good stuff...:thumbsup2

Patricia, I'm here. I don't know if I'll ever be able to catch up especially since we are going out of town this weekend to see our son and his fiance and then have to get ready for Thanksgiving, but I'm going to try. I did notice that we will miss you by 3 days...we arrive on the 6th.

Hey Kathy :welcome: Thanks for coming over... I know you will be there for the "official" opening of the new FL...just in time to celebrate Mark's Birthday... I can only imagine what kind of new hats they may have over there...;)

Back to read...I may skim a little. ;)

****Okay, I'm back. I'll be upfront...I skipped most of the chatter.

Yes I do that too sometimes when trying to catch up on tr's... I haven't written a TR/PTR in a little bit and I kind of forgot about those handy dandy chapter links...:rotfl: I will definitely remember to put those in when I do my TR...

First, and most important--well, at least in my mind (:lmao::lmao::lmao:) a cocktail at the Dawa Bar at the AK -- the Raspberry Pina Colada...very, very yummy.

Sounds yummy...:goodvibes

I loved your trip to California and seeing all of the pictures. California is on my bucket list of places I really want to get too.

There are places in our country that I think everyone should see if they are able to like Washington D.C....& California is one of them...::yes:

Your plans for your trip which is almost here sound terrifii. I can't wait to stay at the Beach Club on my girls trip in June (it's the only resort left that I've been dying to try; I'm just afraid I'll fall in love with it and won't be able to afford it for our 30th anniversary next year...although I'll be happy at OKW).

I'm really excited to be staying at the Beach Club...OKW seems lovely in every TR I've read that has it in it...:)

I promise I'm here for the rest and will keep up and hope you'll be doing a TR for me to read when I get back from our trip.

Thanks:goodvibes... and I'll definitely be doing a trip report when we return with chapter links...

15 Days Until Go Time...

I need to start to think about packing...(I'm slightly in denial... I don't like packing unless it involves books and in the case of Disney... some stuffies...:lmao:- oh and sometimes I take my own coffee...) but it's a necessary evil so I'm going to make that list.. I need to check the weather... I think we should be prepared for a variety of weather conditions...

Last time we were there in December was about 5 years ago... and I remember it getting chilly at night so when I was in Target yesterday I grabbed these (and 8 more packs with all different characters-Donald, Mickey, Goofy, etc... so we'd each have enough for 3 nights...:)

IMG_0402.jpg

I thought they might come in handy at Fantasmic, Osbourne Lights and the Candlelight Processional...

Target is full of all kinds of goodies right now...another Diser wrote about these in her PTR and Em and I snagged a couple of the last pairs...

IMG_0461.jpg

IMG_0431.jpg

We are "sharing" although I think she has a preference for the Minnie...

But the real reason for my trip to Target was to snag a copy of this baby...

IMG_0492.jpg

IMG_0493.jpg

Normally, I've been waiting to the weekend to do our movie night but like an 8 year old, I needed to see this and took my cold and Em's cold as an excuse to break it open...

In keeping with the trio theme, this film does have a great Dis Trio however...

IMG_0498.jpg

Harris, Hubert and Hamish...

Too cute, a bit naughty, lots of fun...& they do come through for their sister when she needs them...

I love this film... it isn't a traditional princess story in that there isn't a princess/prince love interest... in fact Merida fights against being forced into an arranged marriage...

But it is a love story partially to the beauty of Scotland...even CGScotland...:lmao:) but even more so it's a love story between a daughter and mother... there is conflict between them as Merida is growing up ... but they learn a lot from each other and they and their bond is stronger at the end...

100_0560.jpg

100_1234.jpg

100_0382.jpg

100_3010.jpg

Plus for me, the fact that there is finally a naturally curly haired princess with not a flat iron in sight... is a huge cause for celebration...:yay: I was very sensitive about having curly hair when I was younger and I'm glad there is a princess that little curly girlies can identify... and that you don't have to have poker straight hair to be a princess...princess:

(um... I also have to admit that I bought a couple of Brave things that were on sale last night... even though I haven't hit the Disney store up for quite a while...even though Em's not coming on this trip... she wanted a matching Brave t shirt to mine...:goodvibes

Additionally...

Although I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to Christmas and don't believe the season actually starts until Santa Claus comes at the end of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade...:santa:

Target disagrees and has their Disney Christmas stuff out in full force...

So Happy Christmas preview and see Brave if you haven't...

(meanwhile I have to make a packing list...)

I'm so excited to get my copy of Brave! I pre-ordered it online and I get a $10 Disney Store gift card when it comes. Yay! Oh, and I have to get me some of those cute Mickey/Minnie sock slippers! :hyper:

From another diser "ronmel", here is how you do links!

-Click on the number of the post you want to link (top right corner). It will open just the post in another window.
-Copy the address of the page.
-Click to edit your table of content
-In your table of content highlight the name of the chapter you want to link
-Click on the the "Insert Link" icon (earth with chain link)
-Paste the address of your post.
-If you want your link to be in color just highlight the name of your chapter again, and choose the color.

Hope that helps! If it's not clear enough just ask another question.

and

I've bolded the part to do that.

Basically, in the table of content I'll write (for example)
Day 2 - Magic Kingdom

Then I'll highlight that (Day 2 - Magic Kingdom) as if I wanted to copy it, but I won't.

While it's highlighted, I'll click on the "insert link" icon, and paste the address of the post I want to link. So it will now look like:
[ URL="http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=41467161&postcount=226"]
Day 2 - Magic Kingdom

without the space.

Then if I want to have my link show up in a different color, I'll highlight this again (in bold here)
[ URL="http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=41467161&postcount=226"]
Day 2 - Magic Kingdom

then click on the color I want. So now it'll look:
[ URL="http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=41467161&postcount=226"]
Day 2 - Magic Kingdom

again without the spaces.

Does it make sense? I always have a hard time explaining computer stuff.

This was all directly from her to me!~

NOW, onto your update! LOVE Brave! I also picked up my pre-order yesterday! Can you believe though, that I had NO interest in buying anything at the Disney store... everything looked so generic.. hated their Christmas stuff, which is crazy for me even to say!

I'm so excited for Christmas though! However, we are struggling with ideas for gits this year!

I have a super awesome packing list if you need any help!

Good deal...:thumbsup2... did you pre order from the Disney Store??

The socks are pretty cozy... it's extra fun when we wear them at the same time...;)

From another diser "ronmel", here is how you do links!

Well thanks Jenn and thanks to ronmel... who doesn't know me from Adam but now I'll have to stalk her TR...assuming she/he has one...

I'm going to go back and try out the instructions...

They go in cycles... I had a period where I was going nuts but recently not so much...:confused3 but I did like some of the Brave things... I think I'm just sentimental about the movie...

I'm so excited for Christmas though! However, we are struggling with ideas for gits this year!

Yes you should be having a very lovely Christmas this year...:goodvibes I like to celebrate a little bit the whole season... even little things everyday... It's a lot of celebration and emotion just put it all on one day...

As far as gifts...Well you do have that whole Wedding thing coming up and a family Disneymoon... I'm thinking you should incorporate that into your gifts this year...;) Don't drive yourself too nuts with that...:santa:

I have a super awesome packing list if you need any help!

Hmmm... and just what it on this super awesome packing list...? If you have it on your computer and you can easily access it.... I'd love to see it...:goodvibes

Oooooh...I love those handwarmers. I just sent Andy an email with a picture of them and told him that he and Des (his girlfriend) should go and pick some up. I told him it would be a little hard for me to explain buying them when Mark and I go to Target on our once a week visit.

And I want a pair of those slippers too.

We've not yet seen Brave, but I hope to rent it and see it Thanksgiving weekend.
