No wbta 2013

I suspect at least one date they will not release is the day they start up the online reservation system for DVC.

That is suppossed to go live on Mon, Jan 16. So most likely they will not announce on that date.

It has been mentioned the UK can get a brochure on 1/18 so I am guessing not too far after that.

I am sooo glad you are all so close and have so much in common... but now I am wondering if I will be a major outcast on this WBTA ?? I have always wanted to do this and will literally be saving every spare penny to do this, but maybe we should look at EBTA. I know my kids will find it more difficult due to the time change but I already feel kinda awkward because I ca't join into the conversation as it is a "been there, know the joke" kinda thing....
Don't be silly :goodvibes...even those of us who WERE on the 2011 WB don't necessarily know much of what the others are talking about! :confused3 It doesn't matter one bit...we all had an amazing time doing our own things, and we are bound by the love of Disney and all it offers :lovestruc. It was amazing meeting so many people, attending Dis-only events, and participating in Secret Mickey/FE/candy swaps, but when it comes right down to it, most people don't spend most of their time with other Dissers (unless they have linked dining or know each other from past trips). But the ones that do, have lots of fabulous stories to tell, obviously (and we want to hear all the details!).

The point is, who cares who knows who....just jump in...we don't bite!

Just think of this as a whole bunch of friends you haven't quite met in person yet.
:thumbsup2

Nooooo!!! Please don't think that!!!

I did the 2010 WBTA solo and only booked 7 weeks from the sailing - cannot tell you how nervous I was!!! In fact, I think I only knew one or two other couples from a previous cruise but, despite joining the cruise thread VERY late, I tentatively made friends and agreed to link dining. I don't think it would be an understatement to say that I made friends for life on that cruise. Despite not being able to join in with banter that had been going on for a while. Honestly, it was the best vacation ever. I cannot stress that enough...

And TBH, I have no clue what the 2011 WBTA-ers are talking about!!! ;) But it sounds like fun was had so I love that they too had a Magical trip. And I definitely want to be a part of the next one... So, please join us - it's going to be fab and you'll make a load of amazing memories... No, if DCL would just announce it already... :cool2:
EXACTLY!!! ::yes::

DH and I did the 2010 EB two months after booking and finding the Disboards. We were pretty shy and stuck to ourselves, although we did do the FE and Secret Mickey exchanges. It was sooooo much fun, we knew we would rebook but chose the 2011 WB (losing that 6 hrs was painful!). This time, my mother, niece, and daughter accompanied us. They weren't active on the boards but also participated in the swaps....now they're completely hooked ::yes:: and can't wait to join us on the next (as yet to be released) one. If it was just the two of us, we probably would have interacted more with fellow Dissers on this last trip, but we still felt like part of "the group".
You'll find an incredible amount of information here, if nothing else :surfweb:.

Nobody will be an outcast- not even me!:rolleyes1
Seriously, even if you feel weird about posting a bunch on the thread, keep up with reading the thread! You'll feel more familiar with this silly group as the cruise gets closer, and you'll start posting more as you get more comfortable.

And joining in the activities that are offered by the group are a lot of fun too! On our WBTA, I participated in the Candy Swap, one of the Mixology classes, the Champagne Girls event, Mickey Mouse Club night, Villains Night, the Pub Crawl and the main meet in the Promenade Lounge on embarkation day.
And what made me feel better was the lanyards that were passed out there (thanks again Noel)! Wherever we went on the ship or ashore, we'd see those blue lanyards and know that it was one of 'our' group wearing it!!

Stick your foot in- the water's fine!!

Well, I would tell Ed's story about being mugged by the ape, but it's way funnier when he tells it in person. Same with Margaret's noisy neighbors story.

But we didn't know anyone before the 2011 trip. I just started hanging out here on the Dis and found lots of people with common interests - even things other than Disney, if you can imagine! I got lots of good advice on where to stay in Barca and what to bring for clothes, too. Just join in, ask anything that comes to mind, and have fun! We were all new here, once.

Now that might be a "at sea day" thing : Telling stories about ourselves that make people turn red!:lmao::lmao:

And to all the WB newbies... jump in.... we all did once and that's why we know each other. We all have time(lots of it) to get to know each other.

Perhaps thats where we need to start!

The lanyards are an absolutely fantastic idea ( thanks to Noel :thumbsup2 ) and we have had them for our DIS groups on all 3 cruises we have done. They are brilliant for recognising other DISers around the ship and in the ports ... and have been the starting point for many conversations.

I missed both these stories ... look forward to hearing them sometime.

I am Sarah ( forty-something ... approaching way too close to fifty :sad2: ), married to Tony ( who reached the big fifty last year )
We live in a small seaside town in Wales called Prestatyn .. nothing exciting ever happens here.
I am a community midwife and Tony is ex- Royal Navy and now works in hospital portering services.
We have four grown up children between ages 18 and 21.
Big loves are travel, musical theatre, socialising with friends etc when we get the time.
and thats about it .......

who's next for an intro ?

Ok will give the intro a go!!

I am Annemarie and my partner is Hazel (hazelandannie on here!) we are both thirty something's and have been together for almost 11 years.
We live in Kent in the UK with our 2 cats Bob and Poppy

We both run our own home based Childcare service which we really enjoy and it's lovely having the children each day. We also like that this gives us the flexibility to have our lovely Disney holidays each year.

No children as yet, but hopefully in the pipeline.

Have been going to WDW for many years but 2011 was our first ever cruise and now we're hooked!!
Likes- Disney (obviously!) Florida, holidays , new like is now Disney Cruising :)

Welcome to the group. Don't for one moment think you will feel the odd one out. We were new to the group last year and you soon feel at home with such a wonderful bunch of like minded people.

We joined in the conversations here and added our name to the pre-cruise meeting which was in the Hard Rock Cafe in Barcelona the night before we sailed and everybody chatted to us.

Noel arranged special lanyards for us so when we walked around on deck we knew straight way who was one of 'our group' so it broke the ice because you could say hello straight away and start chatting about something... SO PLEASE JOIN OUR CRUISE....

Just to reiterate what everyone else has said. We were all new once & the only way to get to know everyone is to jump right in and join the chatter. :) If you read something and don't know what we are talking about then just ask, I am sure whoever is chatting will be more then happy to fill everyone else in on the conversation/story.....afterall if it was a private conversation then they wouldn't be sharing it on the internet. :thumbsup2

I was on the 2011 WBTA and don't know half of the stories that have been mentioned on here. It is impossible to know everything that went on for everyone else. However I had the BEST ever cruise/holiday and have made some very dear friends for life! I for one can't wait to do it all again. :cool1:

Once the cruise is announced and we are booked, we can then start planning some of the DIS activities it will a great time to join in and get involved. :thumbsup2 Please join in......

Good idea Ann. :thumbsup2

I'm Claire (36), married to Lee (37) for 10 years although we have been together almost 20 years.

Live in Hertfordshire, just north of London, UK.

We have two very spoilt fur babies, our beautiful but slightly crazy Boxer dogs. :lovestruc

I am a housewife and Lee works as a Business Support Manager for a Special Purpose Management company....please don't ask me to explain what that actually means! If you've got a spare hour on the cruise then ask him. ;)

We have done 3 DCL cruises so far and have been to WDW nine times since 2000! We love to travel to other places too. :cloud9:

Who's next......

Good idea,

Oke I am next.

I am Liesbeth (57), from the Netherlands.
I am a single mother with one son Paul (25) (Paul312 on the board).
I live in Arnhem and he lived in Amsterdam, but since dec. he is home again.
He will introduce himself I suppose.
We went on our first cruise ever with the WBTA 2011 and got hooked from the start. And it was our first time USA and WDW.
We were annual passport holders on Disneyland Paris.
Our next cruise would be the Hawai in oct 2012. And then this one.
I am a librarian on a public library.

Good idea Ann ... :thumbsup2

who's next for an intro ?

It's my turn now...

My DISboard name is Babydiver = Richard and my DW is Sue (Sue Powell on Facebook). She is the one that does most of the posting on both.

I am coming up to a significant birthday this year and recently retired from being an electrician after spending 25 yrs in the RAF. Sue is 61yrs and retired from Marks & Spencer Admin.

Last year we moved from North Devon up to Yorkshire to be near very close friends and have now a greater social life than ever before. It has made travel much easier too than being stuck out in 'the wilds'.

We love our holidays especially to America and Asia and the WBTA was our 5th Disney Cruise with another planned for Pacific Coast in Sept 2012 and the Fantasy in Jan 2013. While we are on the Pacific Coast we hope to book the WBTA 2013.
We were going to move our Dummy Fantasy cruise but friends persuaded us to join them in January!

Who's next?

Great idea, so let me jump in...

I'm Karen (48) and married to Richard (49) for 29 years. We will be celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary in September...

We have 3 grown up (where DID the time go??) delightful offspring, aged between 29 & 18. PLUS the wonderful recent addition of a gorgeous baby grandson, who's coming up for 4 months old...

We currently live in a flat on the River Thames in central London and love being in the thick of things. Unfortunately, this is a temporary measure as we are waiting for work to finish on our house in Kent - long painful project; even longer painful story!!!

I'm a SAHM (tho' somewhat redundant now!) and Richard is Head of Research for a small US bank...

We love to cruise with DCL and are lucky enough to have TWO to look forward to this year - Hawaii on the Wonder in April with LOTS of old friends AND a Western Caribbean in November on the Fantasy with our daughter's little family... This 2013 WBTA will be my 11th cruise.

Love WDW too (DVC members) but I guess you can see that from my signature!!!

Right, who's next???

I am sooo glad you are all so close and have so much in common... but now I am wondering if I will be a major outcast on this WBTA ?? Hi and :welcome::welcome::welcome: tigger2on and family. My DW and I are new to this group as well. This will be our first ever TA like you. But one thing I have found on the DIS is that these are all the most wonderful, friendly, kind and helpful bunch of people you will ever meet. So stay with us, relax and enjoy the conversations and please feel free to join in. We all want to hear from you.
My name is David, my wife is Donna. I am semi-retired, working part-time to pay for our Disney Cruises!!! Donna still works full time, because she loves her job..............no, no, no, that ain't right.............she keeps working because she just is not ready to retire at this time. We love to cruise, we got started a little late, but plan to make up for it as fast as we can. This will be our 6th DCL cruise, and have plenty others planned for the future. So, welcome aboard and have a GREAT time!!!

Okay - Moi:

Holly (59 going on 21...okay, 30....okay....40...hey let's just leave it at I'm not old yet!!!)
Single
I have one son who lives near Boston, one daughter-in-law who I actually adore, two grandchildren: Jackson (8) and Anna (5)
I was born and lived most of my early adult life in New Hampshire.
Since then I've lived in Sedona, Arizona, and now Florida.

Love Disney, have an AP. Used to work at Epcot at Soarin'. Also used to work at Universal at Shrek. Did that when I first moved to Florida as I thought they'd make great part-time jobs. They were! Left when the gas got so high a few years ago as it was an hour commute each way.

So far have only been on one cruise. Had several planned but illness got in the way. I am sailing in 3 weeks, plus another one in April, and one booked for Jan '13. So the WBTA should make me gold.

Believe me, we all feel that way to some extent. I was on the 2010 WBTA and made wonderful new great friends. I originally only knew a few people on that cruise (2 are related to me and a couple of people from a previous cruise). But, we chatted (double digit threads!!) alot and even though most of us hadn't met, we felt like we knew each other at least a bit. Many of my fellow 2010 cruise buddies also sailed on the 2011 but I started a new job at the beginning of 2011 and knew that I would not be able to take 2-1/2 weeks off in one group so I opted for a 7-day Alaska cruise and a 4-day Dream cruise! Stay tuned to the thread and you'll realize that we're all DCL nuts so we all have that in common!!!

The lanyards are an absolutely fantastic idea ( thanks to Noel :thumbsup2 ) and we have had them for our DIS groups on all 3 cruises we have done. They are brilliant for recognising other DISers around the ship and in the ports ... and have been the starting point for many conversations.

who's next for an intro ?

I got my first DIS lanyard on a double dip cruise in 2008 and was amazed how that became the starting point for conversations. My mom and I were seated for breakfast with others one morning and I noticed the lanyard and started talking about the DIS. Turns out they weren't a member of the DIS but were traveling with their daughter/SIL who were. We had a wonderful conversation. I remember my Mom talking after that cruise and she said everytime she saw the lanyard she felt like she was part of the family!

So about me.....

Name: Melodie
Age: Feel like 30 - actually 57 right at this point. I have two grown sons. One son, Dave, is married to Amy (some will recognize them as they were on the 2010 WBTA - they met through the DIS, got engaged at WDW just before the 2008 DD cruise and married in 2009) and the other son, Eric was just recently christened to DCL on a 4-day Dream cruise in Oct 2011.
Work: I'm a CMMS administrator for a biotech company in Exton, PA. This is just a Computerized Maintenance Management System Administrator - fancy term for paper pusher making sure that maintenance and calibration happens on time!!
Hobby: Scrapbooking! I love to scrapbook but don't get near enough time. I just finished my scrapbook (or should I say scrapbooks since it's two volumes) from my 2010 WBTA in December!!! Which leaves me two trips still to scrap!
Passion: DCL!!!!!!! I had my first 4-day cruise on DCL in 2000. Took me six more years (wanted to do a 7-day but the Magic kept traveling between CA and the Med in the summers) and finally took another 4-day in 2006. Moved to a 7-day double dip in September 2008 and on to the WBTA in 2010. Took two DCL cruises in 2011 - Alaska (fantastic time) and a 4-day Dream cruise. I am currently scheduled for a B2B on the Fantasy in September but depending on pricing for this one, may shorten that back to one 7-day so this cruise will either be my 8th or 9th cruise on DCL with one dummy cruise out there still to book (can you tell I love cruising and especially with DCL!!).

Enough about me - ooops too late!! :rotfl:

To all those who have expressed apprehension at joining our merry little band, please don’t worry about a thing ( feel I should burst into song !! ) because every little thing gonna be alright …… we are such a friendly bunch, and so full of ideas/advice and support about DCL and so much more !!!

Our first DCL cruise was the WBTA 2011, and I can’t claim to know every disser on that cruise. We made some wonderful friends, and the lanyards gave us all a common bond on ship and in port ( thanks Noel ) ….. and as others have said many conversations were shared though our common bond. There are many people on this thread that I don’t know at the moment old (WBTA 2010 & more ) and new, but I view that as temporary !!

So welcome and hello, and to those that know me, they can attest to how useless I’m at remembering things ( it’s my age/or being married to Grumpy1234 ! ) The roll call for this thread is already quiet large, so struggling to remember things already !!!

:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

So here I go with my introduction
I’m Margaret in my 50’s and a house wife… no I should say I’m a domestic technician and I’m married to Norman, Grumpy1234 on here. We have two children Michael 23 and Jennifer 17.At present Norman runs a scientific carpound ( well he's offical job ), but he is due to retire within the next few weeks

We live near Dover in the UK, and have been DVC members since 2003. We did last years WBTA to celebrate our 25th anniversary, and we are now hooked like so many others

:scared1::scared1: Any advice on surviving retirement welcome !!!

We took the Jeep Tour, which gave a really great overview of not only the "city" area, but the rural people of Madeira - some of whom don't come "down" for months - the highlight was snacking in a local pub with plenty of the area's residents - and a barkeeper who recognised our appreciation of their cuisine, and invited us to share in thier own meal. We are SO looking forward to visiting Madeira again.

I was hoping someone would get it! ;)

Well, guess it at least gives you a clue as to my age:rotfl: One of our great story-tellers. His Dad was no slouch, either:laughing:

So, in that spirit, and continuing intros -
Me - Ken, retired, born and raised in NYC, now living in northern NJ. Walt, WDW, and DCL fan.(Seriously, as my tag asks, does ANYBODY remember the GEnie boards? Pre-www. , pre-AOL, 300 baud modem board:surfweb: with really highly-informed Disney folks).
DW, Debbie, age 44 (again:lmao:)(JUST KIDDING!!!) school nurse, Disney-holic, with no signs of recovery.

LOVED the EBTA in 2010 (We remember you, Kristi!) Losing the 6 hours, not so much. Will be trying to do both the EBTA and the WBTA in 2013, but if it comes to one, it will be this one. Would LOVE it to come WB into New York Harbor - it's where I have always spent a lot of my time. Not likely, since I believe the St. Maarten date is leaked, and besides, need that Castawy Cay fix before getting off the ship.

See you real soon!

Anybody on last years WBTA that booked on board the dummy cruise west caribbean for 1st dec 2012. Have you just recieved paperwork for that cruise? because I have. The reason I ask is that phoned DCL to order the new brochure out in the uk on 18th jan. So wanted to know if they misunderstood what I was asking / or did anyone esle get this paperwork and brochure for next years cruise ?

Lol Norman says I confuse him and he's been married to me for 25 yrs:rotfl2:

Thanks margaret
