No wbta 2013

Hello Happy Wanna-be cruisers!

I'm keeping a spreadsheet - I'd never get y'all straight without it! Especially noting the fellow scrapbookers!

I'm Linda (probably you figgered that out.) Retired researcher - started out in engineering, ended up in chemistry. I scrapbook and rubber stamp, sew, crochet, garden, work out and COOK.

My DH is Bruce, USAF Ret., also retired Mech. Engr. tech. He does housework yard work, repairs, maintains the cars and computers. Anything that requires patience. And SKIS. Yes, that is bold for a reason. The man eats, sleeps, breathes skiing.

We travel with our teddy bears, Dimples and OC. (THEY are not anything like Kirby)

I was on the 2011 WBTA with roommates MomE and LovingTheMouse - the cruise was wonderful but one of the things that made it so was DISERs - and especially our DIS table mates at Table 23. I also did the PC in 2011. Trip of a lifetime. We are on the inagural Hawaii, in April, too.

Happy Day, all!

Okay, my turn. (You might want to pour yourself a cup of coffee or mix an RAB - Refreshing Adult Beverage, or it's cousin the FAB - Frozen Adult Beverage. Memorize those terms. There will be a quiz later.)

Me: Pat - over 21 and that's all you need to know; I have a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology, taught college for 10 years, taught middle-school math for 11 years, currently working as a dog bather for a groomer and a receptionist/gofer at a veterinary clinic. Still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. I also do dog-training on the side.

(Still with me?) I was born and raised in Orlando, my brother and many friends worked at WDW (it was just the MK then) so I practically grew up there. Through a series of unfortunate choices (or maybe just bad behavior in past lives) I ended up in central Georgia. Oh, and I once worked at WDW - one Christmas, when DTD was still Buena Vista Village, and they still had the "Glory and Pageantry of Christmas." I was the second angel from the left. That's called "irony."

DH: Dennis - older than me (a lot, ;) ); originally from Beaver Falls, PA, retired USAF Reserves, currently works in civil service in defense logistics on our Air Force Base. (No clue what he actually does. He could be a spy for all I know.)

We've been together 12 years, married a little over two. We have no two-legged kids, but four of the four-legged kind. They are all rescues, variety of breeds, and spoiled rotten. I figure rescues deserve to be spoiled more than any other dogs. Dennis likes anything to do with airplanes (he has a pilot's license), I like to read, sew, and crochet (though NOT those nasty toilet paper covers) We both love to cook (well, Dennis bakes, I cook) and drink (wine, RABs, FABs, you name it), and we both love the theatre and often participate on- and off-stage at our local community theatre.

We are Disney junkies and try to go to WDW at least once a year (the only good thing about our location - we can drive there in half a day). We've been on two 4-night cruises on the Wonder, then I decided a transatlantic cruise was on my bucket list and we signed up for the 2011. We dream of moving to Orlando - our excuse is to be closer to my parents (who are ancient), but the truth is we want to be close to WDW, and hey, for me it's home.

Talk about TMI!

I'm another one that has all my info with my TA ready to go the instant she can book me.

I see that we have a water aerobic instructor and massage therapist(s) in our group. I expect to see at least one water aerobic lesson while on the TA :rotfl:. For the massage therapists, I volunteer my shoulders to be worked on if you feel that your skills are getting rusty while on vacation. :rotfl2:

Ok... I think Andrea and I are going to be hunted down!:lmao:
Perhaps we can arrange a couple of small classes on ... foot/ hand massage. Possible chair massage... for all our deserving companions:thumbsup2 They need love too:rolleyes1

Ann:grouphug:

Yup! GEnie, NVN, Delphi. Was on the WWW before graphics. :rotfl2:

Finally:banana::banana: And you could type faster than the postings scrolled in.

Thanks! That sounds like a lot of fun. We took the Jeep tour in Malta on the Mediterranean, and we had the best time! We were able to see so much in such a short time! How did you book this? Through DCL? Privately? Thanks!:thumbsup2

That one we booked through DCL - as I said a highlight!

My intro: My name is Debra (dgentrysim) and I'm married to my very best friend (that's my DH! :lmao:), Rick. We've been married almost 32 years and have two wonderful sons, ages 27 and 22! We live just outside of Raleigh, NC in a small town. I work at the local police department and my husband is a medical investigator.

Whoa - DW & BF is DebORAH. DS is 30, DD is 28 - also Disneyacs (and fanatic for Star Wars, Harry Potter, Tolkien, HS Thompson, Asimov, Dave Barry, can quote everything from Monty Python, Pink Floyd, Barenaked Ladies, dimsum, . . . . hey, they got their good taste from us). Our good friends who should (WILL) be joining us are also from a "small town just outside Raleigh, NC". We met them as our tablemates on the 2010 EBTA - it was their first cruise of any kind. Along with our other tablemates, who should (WILL) be joining us - met the same time time/way, but they will be representing the City of Brotherly Love.

My first introduction to Disney was when we went to Disney World on our honeymoon (and there was just the Magic Kingdom way-y-y-y-y back then) and I instantly fell in love! We've been DVC members since 1996 and have been on 3 Disney cruise with 3 more coming up between now and Oct. 2013!
We definitely believe our WBTA 2011 was the best vacation we've had yet, mainly because of the people we met and got to know!
Have to agree, our 2010 EBTA was made MAGICal by the people we met, and the friends it brought us. Looking forward to more of the same. And cruising Alaska on DCL, with those friends, was WONDERful:banana::banana::banana:

I love to scrapbook, swim, walk, READ, and love on our dog Marley! Life is definitely good, but especially if you sprinkle a little Disney in!!!!:tinker:

Well, guess it at least gives you a clue as to my age:rotfl: One of our great story-tellers. His Dad was no slouch, either:laughing:

I was a little young when it first came out. :hippie: I discovered Arlo in grad school. We saw him in Atlanta a couple of years ago. Fabulous show! Everyone sang along - with feeling! He did a "meet & greet" afterwards and I got his autograph on my copy of his Greatest Hits CD. Definitely a memorable night! :goodvibes

Good morning folks .... I am about to spread a little bit of good news ... this morning I had this email from my TA:

Hello!

I have seen many reports on when we might hear what Disney Cruise Line is planning for the Disney Wonder and Disney Magic for 2013 (and the end of 2012 for the Wonder). I have some preliminary information for you. I do have additional information but I am working hard to verify the information received before I send it to you.

Here is what we are predicting. We anticipate that we will get an announcement early to midweek next week with reservations opening by the end of the week to gold and platinum members. We expect silver member and new cruiser reservations to begin shortly after that.

We expect that there will be a Panama Canal cruise on December 9, 2012 going up the Western Caribbean rather than the Eastern side as they have done before. This cruise is likely going to end in Miami. After this sailing, we expect either alternating 7 night Caribbean sailings or shorter sailings of 4 and 5 nights going to the Western Caribbean and the Bahamas. We believe the Wonder will then go back through the Panama Canal to Los Angeles, then continue up to Vancouver for Alaskan cruises. We are not sure if the ship will home port in Vancouver or Seattle however. We also believe we will see a Hawaiian sailing either from Vancouver or Los Angeles after the Alaska sailings and another trip through the Panama Canal after that.

For the Disney Magic, we expect a repeat of the Galveston schedule for the first part of the year, followed by a Transatlantic sailing from Galveston on or about May 18, 2013. We expect to see a variety of itineraries in the Mediterranean with a home port of Barcelona or Civitavecchia (or both!). Expect to see similar sailings to what we have seen before plus a few longer 12 night sailings to include Eastern Mediterranean ports such as Venice, Turkey, Croatia, the Greek Isles. Based on the port schedules we have seen, we expect these longer sailings will take place in July. We also expect a Transatlantic back on or about October 12, 2013.

I am SO EXCITED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Same great TA :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 :goodvibes

Sure wishing I was gold already so we could get that early booking perk ... just one more cruise :woohoo:

I'm wondering if the TA part will be released for everyone at the same time as it's not a new itinerary? (wishful thinking on my part....)

Still - I'm excited that it's really going to happen! (or 99.9% for sure right now)

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 I have still 2 more to do before we hit gold ... thats the problem with taking only longer cruises :sad2: Hopefully the ship won't get booked up before the silvers get a look in :wizard:

Grrrrr! We get what seems to be thisclose to the release of information, and it is looking like it won't be happening for our family. Ah well, such is life! At least it is before we booked it and tied up additional $$!

I'm still anxiously awaiting information as I am excited for everyone here!

Thank you! Thank you for posting this information:worship:!

I will be calling our TA a bit later today as we are changing the date of another cruise we have booked, and I want to be sure she has all our information regarding dining, etc. for the WBTA. We will be headed to The World and want to be confident that she can reach us by phone if necessary.

We'll be looking to link the cruise with something else. Perhaps ABD:yay: or a Med:woohoo: cruise.

I love it that there is so much activity here from you all while I'm sleeping here at home.:disrocks:

We also expect a Transatlantic back on or about October 12, 2013.

Hi Sarah hoping they release this early in the week so we can all start to plan.

Back to the intros we are Michael and Tricia, we will be enjoying our 39th year of marriage in 2013 so we will use this cruise as our celebation.
Tricia is a SAHGM and looks after our 3 DGDs 3 days a week before they go to school so that keeps her young, I am a chargehand rigger in an offshore construction yard. We have been DVC members since 07 so we are big Disney fans. Took our first trip in 1990 and were bitten by the mouse.

We have a West Highland Terrier called Freddie that keeps us amused and at the vets as he has all sorts of allergies (we are taking him later today) but we love him anyway and wouldnt swop him..
We did the 2010 WB so we do remember a lot of names from that trip but we didnt get to talk to many so we will try harder this time.
As we said earlier we are more readers than posters but we enjoy reading about all your plans and stories.

Richard how did we not cross paths on the cruise last year - or did we?? !!! My DH just retired after 22 years in the RAF!! You can catch up and chat about it all on the WBTA 2013 :thumbsup2

:cool1:

Mary and Stevie....look forward to meeting you on the next cruise and having a chat about service life.

I came out of the RAF quite a few years ago now after serving in the Safety Equipment Section and retrained as an electrican for 'civvy life'.

Our last posting was RAF Chivenor in North Devon and we settled there for many years and 16 months ago took early retirement and moved up North.

Travelling is in our blood and we love sightseeing and meeting people. Hve been a regular WDW visitor since 1989 and joined DVC in the 2004.

From Sarah's posting on Facebook this morning it looks like the WBTA is 'a go' and it won't be long before we are organising things.

We had a dummy cruise on the Fantasy we were going to move but friends have persuaded us to join them on the Fantasy in January so we will have to book the WBTA whilst on the Wonder in September 2012 during our Pacific Cruise.

Have put a photo of the both of us so people have more of a chance to recognise us. It's always nice to be able to put a face to the name...

Babydiver is Richard with DW Sue Powell who is on Facebook.

That's a good idea, Richard! I'll have a hunt see if I can find a recent pic of my DH & I together...

THANK YOU for the posting - I am already plotting and planning!

So a WB Panama Canal, probably late Spring 2013 on the WONDER. Then onto MAGIC for the EBTA, then June in Scotland, chartering a boat on the Caledonian Canal, then flying home. Use the other half of the RT ticket to fly back to Europe, and join the MAGIC for the WBTA.

off to make plans for raiding the IRA . . . . . . . .
