No Ticker Needed, I Live 10 Mins From WDW!! (9/9/12)

Well it was a very Happy Birthday indeed. Loving your trip report and soo wishing I lived closer to the Magic.

Sounds like a great birthday. Love all the goodies you got.

Yay for 2 new tickers. Sometimes I wonder why I don't just move to Florida myself. haha

I'm still reading! Sounds like your birthday weekend was off to a great start!

Where are you moving to?

I'm toying with going up 4/27 for the weekend, have a room booked and everything, but can't decide if I should spend the money. I really need some Disney magic though!

Girl, four bags for four days?! :lmao: I actually find that I take more on shorter trips than I do on longer ones.

Dinner looks yummy! That's a restaurant on property that I have yet to try.

You should move to FL, it's a great place to be and your family sure would visit you just as often as when you come to vacation which is what..twice a year?! if not more!!

I'm moving just 10 mins further from where I am now. They are raising our rent after a year and my new roommate doesn't want to pay to stay here because she has student loans to pay off which I don't have that so I can't sympathize with her but I do have a car payment now!! I'll be saving around $100 by moving which is good but a 10min further commute. Let me know if you come up..maybe we can have a meet!!!

You MUST try it sometime, it's super yummy!!!!!! It really is one of my favorites. My old favorite was the Concourse Steakhouse at CR but that is now RIP so CG is now my new favorite!!!

That's good. I've lived in my apartment for almost 4 years and every year the rent goes up, I hate it. But there aren't many options around here so I just stay put and try to bargain with them!

So I think I have officially decided to go to disney that weekend. I started a pre-trip report which is lame since its such a short trip, but I'll try to make it exciting. It'll be like a short story instead of a novel ;)

Dinner looked wonderful! What kind of soup was that? I must have missed a previous update, but you're moving?

Yay!! I'll have to check the report out!!!

Great birthday and dinner pictures! I love Captain's Grill!

Me too!!

It was Clam Chowder soup and it was amazing!!! I'll be moving the end of June. My parents are coming down to help me move since I'll be in the middle of my Montessori Teacher Training at that point. My apt complex won't let us pay the extra week to stay put and move when my training is over so we'll have to move. Our new apt called today with an assigned apt but it's on the 3rd floor and we want 2nd so we'll be waiting a bit longer which is okay!! At this point we're tossing around the idea of getting some movers to move the furniture since my dad is not really able to (had a skiing accident and temp. paralyzed his arm for about 4 years so he can't do heavy lifting or extreme sports anymore) I would hate for him to pop his shoulder and his arm be totally gone..can you imagine???!!! The one company is about $89 per hour with an hour upfront for travel so we'll see! It would be nice to not really have to lift any furniture!!!!!

If you get good, qualified movers, it may be worth it. I hired movers when I moved from my original apt to the one I'm in now and they were done in a couple hours (granted it was in the same apt complex), but it was well worth the cost. I don't have much furniture but I didn't have anyone to move it and put things like the bed back together.

Did you use a nation-wide company that I could research and call? I called that 2 men and a truck and they were $116 an hour and all my sons was $89. Let me know!!

No it was a local company. I can't remember what I paid but I think it was around the all my sons price. And they had a 4 hr minimum which I didn't even come close to but had to pay for 4 hours.

I WILL See all of Flower and Garden..maybe.

HI DIS FRIENDS!!! Starting Thursday life will get crazy again with our school skating party on Thursday, I'm off on Friday for a minor surgery (cyst removal), car inspection on Sat, and my brother and I are seeing the Broadway Lion King on Sunday!!! I only have 5 weeks of school left with the kiddos followed by a week of cleaning/room prep for the summer! I can't believe how quickly the year has gone. I have not been re-contracted for the next school year but fingers are crossed every day!!!

NOW FOR THE REPORT..

DAY TWO: FRIDAY MARCH 23, 2012

When we left off, we were sound asleep in our room at POFQ..well everyone was except me! I had taken my benadryl too late and it made for a restful night! At one point I debated about driving the 20 mins back to my apt to get some sleep but by the time I decided that it was 5am and we were getting up at 7!

With two hours of sleep we got up and I was determined to make rope drop this "trip" unlike Dec where we did not make a ONE.

The three of us got ready (bro had to work), and we had breakfast at the food court:

And yes we drove lol.

When we got to the park, I insisted on doing Soarin' first and TT. I realize I live here and can go whenever but there are just some rides I NEVER ride even though I live here and Soarin is one of them!! We waited the 20 mins in line and then rode TT twice. Dad wanted to do SE so we did that too.

It was my goal to walk around and catch all the sights of Flower and Garden. As it turns out, I never made it back to see everything except for the hour I spent at Epcot on Easter morning but I still have time..I think?

I made it half way around Epcot when I realized that I was hungry and it was time for lunch and to leave Epcot! Mom and I ended up leaving Epcot leaving Dad there to roam Flower and Garden..the beauty of HIS annual pass!! So well, I didn't end up seeing all of Flower and Garden that morning but I live here and can go whenever right??!!

Mom and I had lunch at the food court!

Lunch was yummy and a good use of our DDP!!

It was then I realized that it was sort of an anniversary us staying at POFQ because the first time we stayed there (or any WDW resort) was 20 years ago!! Time flies right?!

After lunch, mom and I hit the pool until it was time to shower and get ready for dinner!!!!

Wishing you a little pixie dust pixiedust: that the school contract gets signed soon.

I love EPCOT any time of the year but my absolute favorite is Flower and Garden Festival. It's just so beautiful.

Hope you get your contract soon! We got ours Friday and dh had gotten his before spring break!

I love POFQ, but I swear that stuff in the food court still looks a great deal clown-like to me. Which is why I think I never spent much time in there when I was at POFQ.

Good luck with getting your contract Megan. I'll send good thoughts and prayers your way.

Thanks!! My co-teacher was told that she needs to get her training albums done and she won't get her contract until they are done (forced deadline since they seem to procrastinate like crazy there!) As for me, who knows?! I'm starting the training this summer so that's a good thing for me!!

It does look like clowns and looked like that 20 years ago when I stayed there at 7 years old lol,.

Good luck with getting your contract Megan. I'll send good thoughts and prayers your way.

Thanks!! I'd really love to know the dates so I can plan for my summer vacation accordingly!!

Fingers crossed you get a contract renewal soon!

Thanks! We already have 35 kids confirmed for the fall so my fingers are crossed!

DINNER WITH PRINCESSES AND A FIREWORKS FIRST!!!!

HAPPY SATURDAY DIS FRIENDS!! I hope everyone is having a good start to the weekend. All weekend we're expected to have storms and lots of rain so it's not very magical right now!! lol. My "minor surgery" went well yesterday. Thankfully I had the dr prescribe some pain medicine because I sure did use it last night!! Today I'm still feeling some pain and itching but it will get better as the days go on!!! Today is going to be a chill day for me and tomorrow..THE LION KING!!!! I doubt you're allowed cameras there but if you can, I'll take pics!!!

**Is anyone else having problems with Dis and logging in?? Before their upgrades, I was logged in 24/7 and now I have to log in every time I get on and click to "remember me" and it won't remember me. When I went to post this update at first, it had logged me off and I had to log back in..odd. Is it happening to anyone else???

NOW FOR THE REPORT!!

DAY TWO: FRIDAY, MARCH 23, 2012 cont.

When I left off, we were on our way to Epcot for dinner with the princesses at Norway! This would be a first for mom and dad. I've been twice before and bro just once (back in the fall). We checked in and of course seemed to be the only family there without young kids but it was still fun!

Our picture with Belle turned out really well and I forgot to take a pic of it lol.

083.jpg

We had a great female server who took our drink orders and off we went to the buffet....

except Dad.

He had disappeared outside with his iPhone but there was no way we were waiting on him!

084.jpg

085.jpg

We had sat back down when our first princess arrived!

086.jpg

Dad was no where to be found!!!

We were paying a pretty penny for this meal and he's MIA. Well..I shouldn't say that, we were on the DDP which was a cheap $29.99 a day instead of $50+ but still...

Dad missed Aurora but was back in time for Cinderella!

089.jpg

Shortly after that our food arrived. Dad was shocked it arrived so quickly and we had to explain to him that in a set meal like this one, they pretty much have everything ready to go! He ate his meal along with his cold buffet items. THIS IS WHY WORK CAN WAIT..

091.jpg

Finally our last two princesses arrived.

092.jpg

094.jpg

Dad and bro did get pics with all the princesses (dad except Aurora) so I had to post at least one..

095.jpg

I was glad to see he played along as he doesn't tend to do that! He did comment how he's used to the "fur" characters and they don't talk to you haha. I told him we could have gone to Garden Grill....

Dessert arrived which for a family of 4 adults, was not quite enough but we were glad our fullness level was being reached so it was okay.

096.jpg

Bro and I got cupcakes for our birthdays!!

097.jpg

098.jpg

Overall it was a great dinner. Mom and Dad loved it and would go back in a second. I'm glad I was able to accomplish the task of princess dining. I think CRT will be our next adventure with "non fur" characters lol.

After dinner we roamed around Epcot and made a stop in the UK and listened to the rock show. They did a pretty good job since I hadn't seen them before!

After the show we made our way into the Pub to hear the Hat Lady and ended up staying for 45 minutes. The woman was hilarious. There was a table of snow birds next to us and they had her going the whole time! At one point she was only playing Beatles songs and some one requested Sweet Caroline to which she replied "IT'S NOT THE BEATLES BUT OKAY GIVE ME A FEW.."

It was nearing Illuminations time and I had a pretty sweet surprise for my family! My roommate is in charge of conventions and special events for WDW. She put us on the guest list for special Illuminations viewing!!!

Little did I know that not only was it private but we even had a table and chairs!!!! The area is located behind Fish and Chips.

We were all in Illuminations heaven!!!

After the show, the CM told us we could stay as long as we wanted so we hung out, finished our adult beverages from the Pub, and took in the sights of Epcot!!

Eventually we got up and made our way out of the park. They had EMH that night but we didn't stay. Bro had to work early in the morning and we were all beat from a restless sleep and making rope drop!!

Once back at POFQ we all pretty much crashed!!

Dad made several comments about his fireworks viewing saying "IT PRETTY MUCH TIES BRO'S PRIVATE VIEWING SEATS FOR THE PARADES AT MK". Pretty much ties is good but beating those view seats for the parade is something I'm on a mission to top..eventually lol.
