No swim goggles?

Hers are custom from the eye doctor and are a different script in each eye. If you buy them online then the are the same right? I might look into this for DH thanks.

Yes, you are correct. You have to order the same diopter for each eye when you order them online. We asked my DS's eye doctor what would be a good compromise to order since his eyes are also both different - but not by enough to warrant a $$$ special order. She just recommended what would work out to be close enough in his case.

I did pretty well.. I called around and they were up to $200 :scared:. Anyway, like I said hers are custom and she's used them for years. They made a huge difference in her confidence level so I don't regret it at all. Mabye we'll try these for the cruise.. I don't think her eyes are that far apart but I'll see when she goes next time. She's had lots of eye issues (surgery twice) so I'm a bit hesitant to mess around too much.

I got my son some from swim outlet as well. He says they are just like his Rx which makes me very happy. For those of you with different Rx's for each eye you could order a pair in each Rx - the nose bridge is what keeps them together, just use one from each pair and re-lace the strap. Viola! Custom Rx swim goggles and cheaper than $40.

My son hated to get water in his nose and always wore swim masks that covered his nose as well. We were told specifically (by the pool lifeguard) that you can't wear a mask that covers the nose but regular goggles were fine.

I just got off the Fantasy. I did see them telling a parent that their child couldn't wear a swim mask (the kind that covers their nose) in Nemo's Reef. I wasn't paying much attention though as I was keeping an eye on my kids.

This has been our experience as well.

had no idea there was such a rule, my kids wore them all the time on 2 cruises we went to and no one ever said anything to them.

On the three cruises we've been on there have been many children, including ours, wearing swimming goggles. In fact we bought our son his first pair of goggles from the stall right next to the pool on the Magic.

They do stop people wearing diving style face masks.

That is pretty funny about the "rule" and then they turn around and sell them! I'm going to guess someone would have a pretty solid argument against the "no goggle" rule. Too funny!

I had no idea that they made prescription goggles!!!! Where do you get them? I make my daughter take her glasses off in the water but it hurts her eyes to not have them on. This could really help:)

Lots of people have already mentioned but I would have said if your daughter has a strong prescription, best bet is from the doctor (which will be pretty pricey more than likely). They always have athletic eyewear and I've never been a lucky one to have both eyes the same prescription plus they each have a different astigmatism. And now that I'm getting old...bifocals! Not that I'd need that in the water of course ahaha.

Okay. Here is DCL's response to my inquiry.

Although children's swim goggles are allowed onboard, the information on the website is referring to the equipment a Guest would use for snorkeling in the ocean. I am sure you would agree that our pools are not designed for full-fledged snorkeling! However, at our private island of Castaway Cay, Guests can snorkel at the designated location with your own equipment for no additional cost. Snorkeling vests are available free of charge. But the equipment would not be used onboard the ship.

And, if you choose to bring your own equipment and reserve a port adventure at one of the ports of call, there would not be any reduction in price for the experience.

So I responded with the suggestion that someone consider changing the wording on the DCL site because what they're saying there is not what they actually mean.

Thanks srferson! Glad to know they know what they are talking about, even though the person who typed it onto the website didn't.
