No swim goggles?

I was also going to say that they sell the swim goggles on the ships. We were told that it refers to the masks that are used for snorkling but the kids could wear the goggles by CMs.

My thought would be they don't want people to wear them because they might cause a safety hazard if the lenses broke. Along with what others have said about them possibly getting caught on something, or scratching the slides.
Also, if they get lost, and are at the bottom of the pool, they could cause a problem with the drain.

As far as Pelican Plunge, it's also a matter of them getting lost, someone stepping on them and getting hurt, and they could be a danger to the fish, also. (Think about those plastic rings that hold a 6 pack of soda..)

Hunh.... We bought my DD(then 4) her first pair of goggles on the Magic. Her eyes were SOOO beat red from the chlorine. I even had the manager in the gift shop help me pick a pair out! Anyway, she wore them every time in the Mickey pool and noone said anything. (I didn't know it was a rule either).

Please note that snorkel equipment and swim goggles are not permitted in pools, hot tubs or water-play areas.

I had this on my question list too! Couldn't understand the reasoning and was wondering if it was enforced.

My kids have worn goggles on both the Dream and the Fantasy without being told to take them off. I wasn't aware that they were not supposed to wear them.

I suspect English translation issue somewhere along the way and they meant "snorkel equipment and swim masks".

It's not exactly her perscription but it's close. She was having a terrible time learning to swim. We finally realized she was scared because she couldn't see. They were only $40 and money very well spent.

My son also wears prescription goggles. They are great for kids who need glasses to see but also want to swim! I'm on the Dream in two weeks and I'm bringing my son's prescription goggles...he needs to see! It would be a worse hazard for him to be blind in the pool without his prescription goggles bumping into other kids than wearing the goggles and seeing clearly around others. Just my opinion.

Along the same line - are inflatable water wings allowed in the pools or at CC?

"Coast Guard personal flotation devices (PFDs), water wings and flotation sewn into bathing suits can be brought onboard and are permitted in Mickey's Pool. However, floats, rafts and fun noodles cannot be brought onboard and are not permitted in the pools."

They were enforcing it on our eastern caribbean in January, but only for goggles/masks that covered the nose. Regular goggles seemed to be ok.

Mickey's pool is only 18 inches deep. It is usually too crowded to allow for any swimming, so we never brought anything for the kids to use. We didn't allow them into the family pool until they could touch the bottom, unless we were holding them. That pool just gets too crazy with kids jumping on top of others who are already in the water.

I had no idea that they made prescription goggles!!!! Where do you get them? I make my daughter take her glasses off in the water but it hurts her eyes to not have them on. This could really help:)

...despite the clearly posted signs that include "no jumping" as a rule.

My middle child can't swim without googles, so he has always worn googles. I've never seen a posted rule anywhere and never been told otherwise. If it is buried on the website then I don't care. If they tell me or post it otherwise, I'll listen and follow the rule.

Just like someone else said, I suspect they mean masks. Seems to me like goggles would do more good than harm. Especially if kids are splashing around.

I decided to ask DCL by email about it. If they sell them, I seriously doubt they have a rule against them. I think it's more likely a mistake on their site. If so, they should fix it.

Anyway, I haven't heard anything back yet, but I'll post when I do.

$40?!:scared1: You can get them online at the swimoutlet.com for closer to $15. Speedo, TYR and Sporti all make them but we prefer the Speedo ones. My DS is a competitive swimmer so we stock up on them a couple times a year. He says they're more like looking thru a peephole than regular non-RX goggles but at least he can see clock so he can watch his intervals at practice. You can also get optical diving masks if you go snorkeling.

Probably a good call.

This thread has just reminded me of the goggles that were for sale at the little giftshop on the Dream nearish the pool. I almost bought some for DS because he lost his before we went on the trip, but I'm glad I didn't because we never found time for the pools.

I get my son's at Swim Outlet too. I know the eye doctor's office also sells them so maybe that's where the $40 pair came from.

Hers are custom from the eye doctor and are a different script in each eye. If you buy them online then they are the same right? I might look into this for DH thanks.
