No problem booking 7 months Ressies - June '07

We are going June 2-12. I Called at 7 months and had my choice of any resort. We went with VWL for 4 days and BCV for 5 days. We will be in a studio because I am out of points. After this trip we will have stayed at every onsite DVC.

I'm SO envious. We did SWW this year & had a great time. Enjoy!

We're going 6/15 - 6/22. We called MS on 11/24 and were able to get a dedicated 2BR at VWL without any problems at the 7 month window.

We're going June 2-9 and staying at BCV. I called at the 7 mos mark and had no problem getting in. We have a 2 bdrm with one room having the queen and sleeper. I am on a wait list for the 2 queens. My brother's family is staying in that room so I really hope it comes through for us!

We're checking in June 24-out June 29, then checking in at VB June 29 and out July 1. It's our first DVC trip. Very excited I must say!

I'm always reading about ppl asking about the chances of getting ressies at the 7 month window; this was my first experience attempting this and it worked out pretty well. Our home is SSR but this time we wanted to try one of the other resorts and we were hoping to get into BWV or BCV.

I called MS yesterday (Dec 1st) and was told that there are plenty of 2BRs at VWL,BWV (preferred view) and even some at BCV. BWV did have some standard views available but not for 7 consecutive nights. I did not inquire about OKW and SSR but you must figure there would be availability given their size.

We ended up doing 7 nights at BCV; we had to split the reservation because even though its a 2BR; the rooms are not the same; one room has a queen and sleeper sofa in the 2nd bedroom (we have this for 2 nights) and the other ressie is 5 nights with 2 queens in the 2nd bedroom. Neither room was available for 7 consecutive days. We asked to waitlist the 2 nights so hopefully we won't have to check in/check out during the vacation, even though its the same resort.

Now, if the weather will cooperate and stay under 100 degrees

How is that getting what you want? If I could edit your post I would. It should be titled "Difficulty getting bookings in June at any DVC Resorts other than SSR."

Your post sums up what many have found, 7 month bookings are not as easy as they used to be.

People can choose to believe whatever they want to believe but as I said in the original post, there were 2 BRs available for 7 consecutive nights at the 7 month booking for VWL and BWV. I did not inquire about OKW and SSR but I would be surprised if they were completely full at the 7 month mark, so to say that its difficult to book at any resort other than SSR at the 7 month mark is not an honest statement.

I'm very happy that I was able to book 7 nights at BCV and if I have to change rooms once that's OK....I'm in Disneyworld after all...having a wonderful vacaton with my family of 4 kids who are really excited to check out stormalong bay.

I read the OP again and now I see what you said. As I read it the first time it seemd as if you were saying there were none available for 7 consecutive nights.

Count me in as one of those dirtbag SSR owners polluting the purity of the the crown jewel resorts...I switched my BCV/SSR trip to VB/BCV at the six month mark.

Thank you VB and BCV owners for NOT reserving at the eleven month mark so a dirtbag SSRer could see how the other half lives!!!

Your post is a good one.

I'm not knocking SSR owners, in fact I am one. It is just a simple numbers game, really. With a resort that size added to the program, even if a small percentage of those owners book other resorts at the 7 month window it puts a huge strain on availability at the small DVC resorts.

Now you won't hear me saying SSR owners are doing anything wrong because they aren't. We can all book any resort at 7 months according to the rules spelled out in the POS. The real culprits here are DVC. The should have made SSR no bigger than OKW. That would have helped significantly.

They followed the money instead and now have had to clamp down on commercial renters and point transfers to help with the overbooking problems they helped create.

What is the 7 month Window?

7 months before check in, you can book at another resort other than your home resort?

I'm asking because, I am not a DVC member, but stayed at Old Key West in 2005, and looking to book another trip here soon to either Old Key West or Saratoga Springs. Arrival date late June, perhaps 6/22-6/24/07 out before the 4th of July crowd (latest July 1)

My question is are rooms held until less than 7 months remain, and then a bunch are "opened up" to DVC and private purchase like myself? ie, if I book before 7 months, would I get a worst location, than after 7 months?

I think I booked in Jan 2007 and got a fantastic location at OKW.

Arrival/departure time was approximately the same time we are looking at for 2007.

I have not yet had trouble at the 7 month window. We have gotten VB '06 and '07 for our Spring Break (first week of April). We just got this week VWL for 4th of July week '07. I am happy for anyone who gets what they want either at the 11 month window or the 7 month window. Happy vacationing!!!
