No One Loses Weight Like Gaston - November 2015 W.I.S.H Challenge

Hey friends! Got busy here with a WW meeting yesterday and double jobs today. Sorry I haven't had any spare time to jump on and chat! I'll try to find some time tomorrow!.............P

Question of the Day - November 9

Cogsworth is doing his best to lead the dishes through their daily workout routine.
With the challenge 25% of the way done, it's time to reflect upon your first week and think about what you did or didn't do. There was a common theme of frustration in the first week results, whether it was from sickness, having 'too much fun', or simply just not seeing the number wanted on the scale. It's a fresh week with lots of possibility ahead of us - let's not let the scale get the better of us. We got this - let's make this week a HUGE loss! :)

What will you do differently this week to see better results on the scale?
If you were satisfied with your results, what will you do to keep the momentum going?

.

Well, I was one of the less-than-happy people this week - eating out and not making great choices turned into a week of not making great choices. But I jump-started the week with a long walk this morning and a good tracking day with my Loseit app.

I'm going to try to keep the morning workout momentum going - getting halfway or nearly to my step goal before breakfast is good motivation! Plus, if I want to burn more calories, starting earlier is a good way to do it. Overall, I'm feeling good today - I had a delicious bunch of food that wasn't too bad for me, I stayed within my serving of tortilla chips (and I think I did pretty good on queso, but it's kind of hard to tell there).

Plus, I still have a little room for some dessert if I want it tonight. Right now I'm still crazy full, but I have a feeling when the 9:00 munchies happen I might snag some ice cream.

My strategy is basically to track super well this week, get in even more exercise than I did last week to try and make up, and also try to drink more water. I love my diet pepsi, but water keeps me full longer and hydration is important!

Well my week did not start off as planned! I was feeling under the weather on Saturday and went to the doc today after having a high fever. Luckily I only have a viral infection but it is greatly affecting oxygen saturation levels. So as of now I cannot exercise or strain my lungs too much. :sad1: However I hope to really shape up my diet this week so that I don't gain any extra pounds due to my sedentary state. I'm hoping after a round of steroids that my lungs will be able to handle some light exercises later in the week.

Hi :dogdance: I am new here
So last night I was laying in bed thinking about how DONE I am with gaining weight and not being comfortable in my own skin when I thought 'I wonder if there is a weight loss thread on the Dis?'. Low and behold, there is! So here I am. If updating has already taken place for the week/month I can wait for the next round. I just really wanted to get into a group of like-minded 'losers' :teeth:.

I am 5'9 and 184lbs. My goal is 150 and I want to shoot for about 8 pounds a month. I am going to fire up my dusty fitbit (actually steal my husbands--mine drowned in cleavage sweat during my last weight loss streak. Life lesson: don't clip them to your sports bra during a workout. :crazy2:). I am considering joining WW, at least online for now. My gym closed down so I am going to look into finding a new place. My biggest challenge is the evening. My brain seems to be programmed to demand food (of the cheesy, carby, sugary type) and a lot of it from 6 pm until bedtime. I have little to no self-control and have always fought wth compulsive eating tendencies, but I am ready for a fight.

Next Disneyworld trip is in May. I want to be comfortable in my body and less self-conscious. Aaaand smaller for my annual Victoria Secret Outlet binge (because can you go to Disney and NOT stop by the outlets?) :rolleyes1

Here's to making good food choices and feeling better about myself :drinking1(that's a protein shake of course)

Welcome, welcome, welcome! SO happy to see a new face here! We have a few WW here (including me) so we would love to chat!

Take a minute to tell us about yourself and then hop right into the chatter!

********************************

Hey friends.... I will NOT having time to chat again today..... no computer access with the school job I am doing today and of course, WW tonight. And tomorrow is a no-school day, but I am taking advantage of it and spending a day with my DS........ not sure yet what we are doing, but it will be a day together, nonetheless!

My lunch is packed AND tracked.... now off to grab coffee and make sure DS is up and moving for school!...........................P

I stepped on the scale today and was greeted with a horrible number!!! I am up 3.5 pounds since Friday. I KNOW that I cannot have put on that much weight over the course of three days. Even though I certainly overdid it a bit during the weekend. And then had horrible snack attacks Sunday and Monday nights... I tracked Sunday and Monday and even with my snacks, I still was able to have a calorie deficit. Still, the number is a bit depressing. The good thing though is that I have learned that I don't let that frustration kill my motivation. So, today is another day and hopefully it will be a good one!

I hate when I step on the scale after a bad weekend but it's not THAT bad and see mean numbers on the scale. Hopefully it's just water retention from the food and it'll disappear in no time!

The scale says I am down 1lb today. I realize that doesn't mean much on day one, but hey-at least we are going in the right direction! I didn't work out yesterday but I did scoop leaves/vacuum out the pool for almost 2 hours. My sore arms and chest tell me that had to count for something. :D:D I signed up for weight watchers and told my DH that I was on an "official" diet. He ate delicious Tillamook chocolate peanut butter ice cream in front of me---ya know, to help me out and get it out of the house. I banished him to the basement to eat it.

Hopefully day 2 of not eating like a moose will go OK. I've never been one good at portion control and my body is certain I need about 4,000 calories a day to survive.

My "I miss Disney" has reached a new level of pathetic today :rotfl: had coffee this morning out of my Starbucks/Hollywood Studios "You Are Here" mug, and I've got sweet fire chicken going in the crockpot for dinner tonight. Going to have it with jasmine rice and recreate the dish we had at Sunshine Seasons at EPCOT! :goodvibes First time trying out this dish, so hopefully it's good. Also, I am not a coffee drinker, but want to be! So what are some recommendations I should try? I was so overwhelmed at Kroger by all the different choices, haha. I really only like coffee that doesn't taste like coffee :rotfl: my go-to drinks at Starbucks are chai tea lattes and white mocha frappuccinos. I ended up just getting classic Folgers and doctoring it with white chocolate mocha creamer.

Off to get ready for day 1 of work... Working 12-8 today :sad1: it's been a long time since I've had to work so late, and I really haven't gotten tired of sleeping late and hanging out at home with my dog all day, haha. I'm also not 100% convinced this is the job for me. Well. I actually know this isn't the job for me, but I'm hoping it will be a more positive "in the meantime" job than my last one. Hopefully it will go well! :scared:

What is your motivation for becoming a coffee drinker? Extra caffeine? I say if you don't like it take advantage of not being tied to a cup that gets filled with creamers and sugar. I do drink it but since I have started working night shift about a year ago I only get in a small cup before I get grossed out by it. If it is the caffeine your after I do find that I like Zipfizz -you can get them for about .80 each on Amazon. You can also just get caffeine pills that are each equivalent to 1 cup of coffee. Sometimes I go that route if my brain is demanding caffeine but my coffee doesn't sound good (weird things happen to your body on night shift!)

Workout Music. Flexing Your Muscles.
:rockband:

Music can motivate us to get past our hurdles. Plus a good beat keeps us going!
What are some favorite songs on your workout playlist?

Ooh, I am looking forward to the answers here. I am honestly a little sick of my current selection. But I am at a loss as to what to add, so I will be interested to see responses. This is my plan for my plane trips to CA tomorrow, fix my playlists for Avengers weekend!

Songs I have enjoyed for a while include:
Imagine Dragons - Top of the World, It's Time, I Bet My Life
American Authors: Best Day of My Life, Believer
Foo Fighters: Walk, Everlong, Best of You
Pitbull: Feel This Moment, Shake Señora - this song is ridiculous really, but it makes me laugh and you need that on a run sometimes;)

I just go with a generic Pandora workout station. Although one time I was listening and somehow Barry White's "Can't get enough of your love" came on and I started giggling and couldn't stop. SO not what you think your going to hear after 30 minutes on the elliptical. That song came out before I was alive and is so ridiculous!

I hate that too!! That's basically what happened to me last week :P It's not fun - but the best thing we can do is keep up good habits, and I'm sure you will be heading in the direction you want soon enough :)

I tend to listen to podcasts over music most of the time - some favorites include:
-Dis Unplugged
-Be Our Guest podcast
-A huge variety of knitting podcasts (Knitmore Girls, Commuter Knitter, and Prairie Girls Knit & Spin are some current favorites).

The narration or stories generally get me more focused so I'm not looking at the treadmill and counting down the minutes the whole time :P However, if I'm going to listen to music, I usually just go for one of my Spotify playlists, and it could be a wide variety of things. This morning I listened to my Country playlist, but sometimes I'll listen to a bunch of Jimmy Buffett or other random selections. Even though I usually am not a huge fan, I really am in love with Carrie Underwood's new single.

I do a lot of walking, so I don't feel the need to have a specific "workout" playlist with fast or motivational songs like I did when I was trying to run. So I basically just pick what I feel like that day and go with it.

I am more of a podcast listener, too. I enjoy the entertainment and am not a huge music listener in general.

I like all the DIS podcasts, they have quite a lot. And then there is a radio soap from the UK that is available as podcast called The Archers. I got hooked on it during my studies in the UK and am so glad that is now also a podcast!

Thanks for the words of encouragement, having a much better day today, so far anyway, lol. Three weeks from now we will be at Disney World, yay! So I will keep busy getting everything ready for our trip and try not to focus so much on food. Here's to a better week ahead!
Good attitude! We are leaving for our trip in eight days! My goal is to stay at 0%. No loss no gain...but this may not be realistic...I do want to enjoy the food!

I am back from a wonderful weekend at the spa resort! Unfortunately I think that with birthday and being away I overdid the eating a bit and today is not shaping up to be the best day eit her. On the other hand I kept true to my running schedule and did manage runs on Friday and on Sunday. Running at the resort was crazy as it is in the mountains and I had the option of steep hills up or down. Nearly no slightly level path. I ran some and walked some. I have to say that I ran more uphill than downhill. I am scared of running downhill.

Need to return to better eating today! Lunch was not the best choice unfortunately...
But....you are doing awesome with your exercise!
