No One Loses Weight Like Gaston - November 2015 W.I.S.H Challenge

That is AWESOME! Doesn't sound insane to me at all!

As for me-- I had a great time at the Jingle Jungle 5K! Y'all--- I can see now why people get addicted to that kind of stuff.... so much fun! Disney knows how to make something very tedious for me a blast. Haha! @DVCFan1994 -- You were right-- no sweeping. It was totally relaxed! Thank you so much for tipping me off to that!

Eating at Disney was (as expected) a disaster, but I am please to report that as of this morning I am actually down by 0.3 lb. This is clearly evidence that Disney magic does indeed exist!

Anyway, back on the tracking train today... Happy Monday!
Wow! Just Wow!

whoa there buddy..i have fallen way behind! this was my busy week, and I knew it but I ended up waving my white flag to my sinuses and going in for an antibiotic too. thankfully I had the Outland vol 2 of season one from the library to keep my company as I convalesced and tried to kick the crud

I'm going to have to remember to WI on Thursday -- thurs evening I go to a church retreat through Sunday. it will be LOTS OF UNHEALTHY FOODS! ugh! trying to make myself make these days count until I get there. I didn't journal on Sun/Mon...so I guess I blew my 10 days in a row. darn it I just realized that. I will try again come Monday!

haven't been feeling energetic enough to shower everyday so the gym hasn't' been happening. I went to yoga Friday and felt feverish and knew I'd pushed it too hard. soooooo.... I sure hope cutting back on my food intake gives me a little loss this week

keep going LOSERS, make this month count!

Hello Friends....just caught up in here after my three day binge from last week. I did have a good weekend...got back on track. I don't listen to music much, so I can't offer any suggestions there but....I do listen to books on tape. I found a book that talks about the weight loss journey and changing behaviors. Most of it is what you would expect, emotional eating, eating when you are not hungry, eating when you are bored etc. It's always good to reinforce your path with motivational speakers/readings. The one thing I am incorporating into the plan this month is: Ranking your hunger. So here is how it works. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being overstuffed and 1 being not hungry. Number 5 would be, you've eaten enough to fuel your body and you are not overstuffed and you should be stopping somewhere between 5 and 8. So, I'm trying this....giving myself a rating before meals and anytime during the day when I feel I'm hungry. So when I get to number 4, that is when I should be eating. You are suppose to pay attention to your body....what are the signs of hunger, is it in your stomach, do you feel it in your mouth, really pay attention to the signs to learn to recognize hunger vs. an emotional response to eating. I think it's kind of neat, so I'm trying it. If I'm at a 2 or 3 I shouldn't be eating. It really is about feeding your body, not your soul. Carry on People!

Workout Music. Flexing Your Muscles.
:rockband:

Music can motivate us to get past our hurdles. Plus a good beat keeps us going!
What are some favorite songs on your workout playlist?

I'm also a podcast listener! Typically, the dis. But I also listen to the Dave Ramsey Show.

I'm with PP who said they listen to podcasts. With music I find myself zoning out and thinking about how tired I am or how boring working out is, but with podcasts I'm forced to pay attention to what is being said which keeps my mind occupied enough to not be counting down the minutes until I am through.

Or what works best for me is I will watch/stream a show I am into but doesn't take 100% brain power to follow. OR Disney movies!

I LOVE this! Great idea. Part of this journey is becoming more self aware and this is a great exercise in that. I am going to try this!

What are some favorite songs on your workout playlist?

I'm in the process of updating my running playlist for Friday, so here's a few of the songs I put on there:
  • "Confident" - Demi Lovoto
  • "Levels" - Nick Jonas
  • "Origin of Love" - MIKA
  • "Shooting Stars" - Bag Raiders
  • "Castles" - of Verona

Basically anything with a good beat :)

Does anyone experience hunger level differences when the weather changes? I've noticed now that it's colder here (if you can count 68 as cold!) that I'm not as hungry as I usually am. This is proving to be a problem because I am not hungry enough to eat all of my points. I had to snack on some Bug Bites from the Mickey Halloween Party as empty calories to get the minimum needed.

What do you guys do in this instance? I am short 8 points tonight IF i eat the 6" Subway sammich in our fridge for dinner. I was going to grab a Starbucks Hot Chocolate before class and try to drink the calories.

I rarely have the problem of eating too little. But one thing that I incorporate in my diet that adds a lot of calories, but still is healthy, is healthy fats. Take some vegetable and drizzle two teaspoons of olive oil over them and add some salt. Gives you three points. Or eat a piece of cheese. WW kind of focusses very much on a low fat diet (actually my only criticism of the program) that I find that many people do not really eat enough healthy fats on WW. Nuts a good way to eat those points in a healthy way.

Question of the Day - November 9
What will you do differently this week to see better results on the scale?
If you were satisfied with your results, what will you do to keep the momentum going?

I plan on keeping an eye on what I'm eating, and continuing to drink my water. I've noticed over the weekend that when I don't drink as much water, I tend to eat more.

Question of the Day - November 10
What are some favorite songs on your workout playlist?

I have a lot of Eminem, Linkin Park, 30 Seconds to Mars, Rise Against, and of course, Disney on my iPod for workouts. It's an odd mix, but it works for me :) and when I walk, I listen to a few Disney podcasts.

What are some favorite songs on your workout playlist?

I love 80s music to motivate me - Billy Idol, Ramones, The Clash, Phil Collins, Billy Squire, " Blister on the Sun" -- The Violent Femmes, " Take on Me"--Aha, "Everyone's Working for the Weekend" -- LoverBoy. Music is the best motivator! Great question!

I'm the opposite! The hotter it is out, the less I want to eat... The colder? Bring on the potato soup and mashed potatoes and casseroles and rice and other hearty carby dishes! Haha

What is your motivation for becoming a coffee drinker? Extra caffeine? I say if you don't like it take advantage of not being tied to a cup that gets filled with creamers and sugar. I do drink it but since I have started working night shift about a year ago I only get in a small cup before I get grossed out by it. If it is the caffeine your after I do find that I like Zipfizz -you can get them for about .80 each on Amazon. You can also just get caffeine pills that are each equivalent to 1 cup of coffee. Sometimes I go that route if my brain is demanding caffeine but my coffee doesn't sound good (weird things happen to your body on night shift!)

Actually, it has little to do with caffeine, and more with wanting a warm wake-up drink to drink in the mornings now that it's so cold. The reason I don't like coffee is only partially because of the taste - which is probably because I've been trying the wrong kind of coffee, but I find it very bitter - and majorly because of the texture. Same reason I hate tea. It's TOO watery. If something is going to be that thin, it needs to be water - not flavored, just water. Even juice is a little more substantial. Coffee and tea are just toooooo thin and I can't do it. If I ever make hot chocolate, I have to make it with milk, not water. I will not drink hot chocolate made from water, haha. So I just need

Morning friends! Happy Veterans' Day to those who have served or have family members who are Vets!

Kind of a bit sad this morning..... today was to be a big Mother/Son adventure day. As most of you know, I began the tradition a long time ago that I took each of my children away for a weekend each year for Mother/Child day. DD and I have NO PROBLEM finding adventures to go on....... we always plan something fun, even when money and time are tight. It is a priority for DD and I. But the last Mother/Son trip was to MineCon in 2013 (obviously more for him). Then last year just kind of flew by and we never made it happen.... so this year I didn't want to miss it again.... but here we are in NOVEMBER and it hasn't happened yet.... so today was IT.... maybe not a whole weekend, but at least a FULL DAY to spend together. I couldn't really come up with anything terribly exciting to do (most outdoor venues are closed here as of 11/1 so no ziplining, no Segway tours, no Mount Washington auto road) and today's weather is, of course, crap (so no hiking or biking) and since we ONLY have today, no long drives to anything..... so anyhow, our choices were limited but I was determined we would have a FUN and MEMORABLE day (bowling, science museum, new restaurant, arcade, movie).... until DS announced at 9pm last night that no matter what we did he needed to be back in town from 2-4 pm (keeping in mind that that is at least a 45 minute drive, so festivities must end by 1:15)!!! And of course, since it is a "no school" day, he would like to sleep in a bit... like til 10 am!! GRRRRRRR! There goes the day. If I'm lucky we may have time to go out for brunch/lunch and go bowling... that's it.

While I commend his committment (he helps coach an FLL robotics team and their competition is coming up soon, so every meeting is important), I admit I TOTALLY forgot about this and I wish he had mentioned it sooner. It wouldn't really change much, but I wouldn't have gotten myself so excited for the day. Anyhow.... sitting here feeling sad that my special day with DS will be so short.

Anyhoooo....... been staying really busy here with work and all, so I have NOT been keeping up with the chatter and for that I apologize! I'm going to start fresh here for now. I have scanned through the chit-chat and some of us are really struggling this month! What do we need to do to get our "heads in the game" before the big holiday time?

For those who are ROCKING it this month, CONGRATS! What a GREAT WAY to end 2015 on a positive note!!

I'm going to wake up DS earlier than planned.... if he can only give me part of a day, I'm not letting him sleep it away! He is normally up around 7 am.... so I'll give him until 8 am and then sing the "rise and shine" song! I'm taking that boy out for BREAKFAST whether he likes it or not...:D

Gonna dash!...................P

In anticipation of Whoohoo Wednesday....My MRI came back good. No injury to spine...but I do have arthritis, which is causing the back pain. So, I have a referral to Physical Therapy, which is good, because they can assist me is developing a workout at the gym that will help and not strain my back. I'm grateful that I don't need surgery! I'm doing good this week with food, but not tracking...so I'm maintaining. But....this is good practice for when I'm able to maintain my weight. I think what it will look like is this....eat a little extra....cut back a couple days. Otherwise, the smallest amounts over my caloric intake....bam....the weight goes right back on. The book I'm listening to the writer got down to 84 pounds and in three months, doubled that weight! So easy for it to go up....not so easy for it to come down. Dentist today....everyone have a happy Wednesday!

Your awesome...just making it work no matter what! You go girl! Have a great adventure, even if it's not all day!

My woohoo Wednesday for today is that I got up at 6:30 am for my scheduled 30 minute run! Quite proud of myself, I am getting closer to my goal of making this month the one with the most distance run of the year!

The scale is still being crazy. But at least I am down 0.2 pounds from yesterday. I am sure that a lot of it is water as my wrist watch was really uncomfortable this morning. That is always a sign that I am retaining water.

@pjlla Have a great day with your son - make the best out of the hours you have!!

Interesting side note: While you are all celebrating Veterans Day in the US, we are celebrating the first day of Carneval (or Mardi Gras or whatever you might want to call it). It officially starts on 11/11 at 11:11 am.

My Whoo Hoo this week was the President and CEO of our company came in on Monday to personally shake everyone's hand in our department for completing the biggest work cycle ever and we even finished it on time.. and not only did he stop at everyone's cube but he carried on personal conversations with each of us and listened and responded to things we said.. My convo was about a slow moving platform that I have to use every three weeks for at least 2 weeks because of the lag time and he said yes he know its cumbersome and that really the company had thought it was such a good system till we now have to work a lot of the back end stuff on it and that it is helpful to hear feedback.. then he noticed my DS Hockey picture and we talked about my family for a few then he noticed all my Disney stuff and when he said so you like Disney and I said if you want to open and Orlando office I'll sign right up!! haaa good laugh.. That made my whole department feel really good - we are sometimes treated as the red headed step child you know not as important as the other departments here so it was a moral boost for sure

Keep up the good work this week ladies (and gents if we have any) Michelle

I just love the Beauty and the Beast theme this month :) So fun!

My woo hoo is that I've gotten up every morning this week and walked for an hour. That is twice what I was doing when I was working out after work, and it also gets my step count up a lot higher during the day. I'm not seeing the results on the scale right now, which is pretty frustrating after last week's results, but I'm trying to make sure that I just keep doing what I'm doing and trust that as long as I'm following the plan then the weight will come off.
