No more studios for me

Is that for the studio or one bedroom? No jacuzzi or king bed in the studio. But 12 yr old boys should be able to sleep fine in a bathtub as well.

I'm looking for excuses to force myself to upgrade to the 1brs... I had forgotten he can chill in the studio tub. This weekend's stay might be a good chance to try the boy-in-the-tub theory... Hmmmm :rotfl:

:rotfl:
I spent more than a few nights sleeping in a bathtub during college. Slept like a baby!

Hehe, totally off topic, but dare I ask what you were studying back then? :dance3:

We have never booked a studio. I keep thinking that if it ever would be just DH and myself that would be the way to go.. but yet that would also be the time that maybe we wouldn't be going for park time everyday, so of course we'd need the 1 bdrm with the full kitchen!:rotfl: I think the only time I can see myself in a studio is if my DD19 gets into the college program (applying soon;)) and "MOM" needs to make a trip all by herself to relieve the 'homesickness' (at least you KNOW that's what I'm hoping for!):rolleyes1

While we nearly always get a 1 bedroom villa for just the 2 of us, we are downgrading to a studio in Concierge level at AKV next week. The last time we stayed Concierge, we realized we really didn't need the extra space, so we are spending a few nights in a studio in concierge and the rest of the trip in an OKW 1 bedroom.

Really?!? I thought OKW rooms were the largest of all the DVC properties,we've checked out quite a few,and we love OKW rooms b/c of the extra room, even in a studio!
We prefer 2 beds,as a family of 4, a pullout stinks, and is never put back in and sat on like a couch anyway...... but I guess we each have our faves......

We're a family of 3 and we are perfectly OK with studios. Especially when we go at really busy times like Christmas and New Year's Eve. We end up paying as much for a studio than a 1BR during a cheaper time.

Same here. We stayed in one bedrooms but we now go twice a year so we split the points across a studio for both weeks. We can live with it for the extra vacation until I come down with addonitis. Now if I could just get a studio rate on the plane.

Although we've stayed in studios several times, we prefer 1 beds as well. In terms of value for our DVC points, studios cost too much as well as we go for 2 weeks each July. More specifically, when we break down our buy-in costs, plus our dues, the price per night is high for a studio, but when we stay in 1 beds, we are at around $195/night, which is a great deal! We can't take several short trips per year - our 360 points would allow us several vacations, but we can't due to the fact that I'm a teacher, so 1 beds are best for us. Especially with small kids - naps, meltdowns, quiet time, etc.

We are staying in 1 studio in July @ BLT for our first night as the 1 beds take up too many points, but that's it! We added on specficially to include 12nights in 1 beds each July! Love the laundry, kitchen, living room and more space to spread out!

Happy travels to all, Tiger :)

members stay was this past june ,we stayed at SSR.me trying to strech out points reserved a 1 br for 5 nights and a studio for 3.the problem was the studio stay was for the end of the trip.it was hard going from the 1 br to the studio.we have dw and i and ds,dd.all agreed its ok to strech points but put us in the studio first.the kids are ok in the living room part of the 1 bdr.dw and i love the king size bed.

We've never had a problem staying in a studio, and are really going to test our endurance when we stay in a studio for 14 days in 2010. Still, DD will only be 6 so I think that we'll be okay. My only regret is that I won't have a washer/dryer in the room, but DH has become a pro at schleping our laundry to the facilities, so we'll be fine in that regard too. :rolleyes1

Three years ago, I put us in a studio for the weekend to save points. DH came home, bought me more points and said "no more studios, ever". I can live with that.:lmao:

Now that our boys are 11, we have made new rules. One bedrooms at Kidani and BLT, two bedrooms everywhere else. The boys don't want to sleep in the same bed and I don't want to share a bathroom with them.

Our very first DVC stay was at OKW.. it was a one bedroom.. it did spoil us a bit.. but what it really did was convince us that we made the right choice with our DVC. We are a bit tight in our Studios.. but we manage just fine. Since that first trip, we've visited several other resorts, and we plan on visiting all of the onsite resorts before too long, but the first visit to OKW will always have a very special place in our hearts.

Aha! Sounds like you might have suggested a way to convince reluctant DHs to do an add-on. Spend a couple nights in a 1 BR, then switch to a studio. Tell DH, "Sorry, dear, but this is all I could afford with the number of points we have. Now if we had more points....."

That won't work for me. DH loves the studios! :confused3

Aaaaaarrgh! Well Missy DW, the jig is up! This DH know your game . . .

When I first bought in, I did it with the intention of staying in the studios. On that trip, we were 4 people crammed into an All-Star Movies room and I had about had it. When I saw the AKV model, I was ready to move in! I got developer points and was able to book a 1BR at SSR last year. The 1BR totally changed my method of vacationing. Yes, it's just my son and I, but it was awesome and I vowed never to go with a studio again. My son was only 4 at the time, so he wasn't (and still isn't) a very patient restaurant patron, so eating in the room saved us. However, I think once we get to the point where we eat out a lot, I will go with a studio. No sense in wasting the points on having a kitchen if you're not going to use it. The one thing I would miss, though, is the in-room laundry. But, I guess we'll just have to over-pack!

Just the two of us, studio. Three of us, 1 BDR. Four or five of us 2 BDR.

We may break this rule in October 2010 and have three of us in a studio. Maybe!

There is definitely a point, counter-point when deciding on room size. There is usually a pretty even split between those who like the low point, longer stay that the studio provides and those who had rather have more room and better amenities.

DW really likes having the w/d in room so that we can keep clothes washed and towels fresh through out the stay. It also means we can take less clothes and have little dirty clothes when we come home. I like that the larger rooms are more comfortable to lounge in and you can do stuff in the living room while some else takes a nap in the bedroom without disturbing them. When DW wife and I go alone though, a studio is fine.

We stay in studios (mostly) when it's the two of us. I would stay in 1 bedrooms, I like 1 bedrooms better (of course:goodvibes) but we spend lots of 3 night weekends, including the F and S, at WDW together and it just wouldn't be an efficient use of points.

I wouldn't want to give up weekends for the F&G show expecially now that they didn't have the concerts during the week, so I extend my Spring break stay over 2 weekends, (1 with DF's and the other with DH) and then for the F&G, and for December Christmas season, those stays are over weekends, too.

Bobbi:goodvibes
