No more Mickey Bars

No more Mickey Bars is so sad!!

Hey, anyone know where I could find the post of the Mickey Bar Magnet that I have seen on lots of cabin doors?? Thanks in advance for your help!!

I don't have exactly what you want, but here's one I did for our recent Magic cruise (which did have Mickey bars).

While thinking about it, I propose that they have them both as I love the Mickey bar and the ice cream sandwich is yummy too. I would eat twice as much if we had them both

The one they need to add is the Goofy bar with Carmel. If they had all 3 you would have to roll me off the ship at the end. On our 7 night cruise my family made fun of me when I had 36 sticks from the Mickey bars. I wanted to see how many I could eat. At the airport I was thinking, Lunch would be great with a Mickey bar and tried to order one from Wendy's. I guess a quick habit dies slowly. I still crave them

Holy Cow! You seriously ate more than 5 a day?!

I just checked my cruise insurance policy. There is no provision for "no Mickey bars" as being an allowed reason for cancellation.

How could I have been so stupid to not make sure this was covered?! :rolleyes1
You really should have read the entire policy. tsk-tsk Worthless policy. :rotfl:

If you purchased the "Cancel For Any Reason" insurance this would be a valid reason to cancel :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Me too!!! Glad I did not get DCL insurance!
I can see the claim agent processing the claim.... :surfweb:

Heck yeah I asked, my husband and daughter are addicts to the Mickey Bars, and if they are not available then 'my' cruise will be compromised...looking out for my best interest :rolleyes1
Okay, all joking aside for a moment, if you really did ask concierge, I am curious why? I have stayed concierge at WDW, but never on DCL. If there are no Mickey bars, there are no Mickey bars. Will you be canceling your cruise since they are not there? Does it change anything you will do? I am not being a smart aleck. I am trying to understand what result is desired from utilizing a concierge to answer such a question. Thanks for sharing your viewpoint.

Isnt Concierge service the 'extra' level of service you pay for to have someone there to answer your questions/concerns about your vacation? And yes as silly as it sounds - my family LOVES them and the Mickey Bars are a big PERK to my family on our vacations! So I asked just to see if this was true and would be a permanate change... No we will not be cancelling our cruise because of a Ice Cream Bar - but it is a perk that we do enjoy on our vacation when available. And we also wanted DCL to know that we enjoy them and hope this is only a temporary change.

I am sorry you feel that we are uselessly "utilizing" concierge.

I also got information from DCL they the Mickey Bars are still readily available at WDW so I find the "supplier" issue interesting.

Cool. Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it.

I never said I felt any such way.

If this is true, I would be curious to know why they would do this. It is a terrible move to eliminate something so symbolic of Disney from their high cost cruise that is heavily marketed to families with children.

So very true and sad. Its not like they are keeping their cruise down price wise thats for sure.

How much is a Mickey Bar in the Parks these days?:confused3

My kids always had at least 1 Mickey Bar a day (maybe 1 at dinner and always one at night from room service).
Multiply that by 4 kids and it adds up.
Add in DH and myself and our evening Mickey Bar from room service.
That is at least 6 MBs for us (6 people) a day. :rotfl:
I like knowing the MBs are included in the cost of the cruise. :thumbsup2
When we stay at WDW before the cruises and they want a MB I say they can have all they want on the ship "for free".

I can not think of another item of food on DCL (excluding Palo foods) that is MORE endearing to repeat cruisers on DCL. Why take it away?????

Read post #99. There's a difference between a shortage vs. taking it away.

It is off season time and there is a "shortage"?
I don't believe it.
I think DCL is trying to see how much it matters and what they can get away with taking away. :sad2:
So "if" there is a shortage during off season, how are they going to meet demand for Peak season in April? And 2 months get fix the "shortage"? Hmmm...

If the bars are in the parks to be bought they should be on the ships still.
It is taking it away from the ships to supply the parks where people are paying $$ for them. Disney loses nothing by keeping them in the parks and taking them off the ships. It's all about the $ I suppose :sad2:

Exactly!

Passionate about Mickey Bars... :mickeybar:mickeybar:mickeybar:mickeybar

Here is what my concierge said about the Mickey Bars on our Fantasy Cruise April 21, 2012:
2/28/12
Hello
We are happy to assist and answer your concerns.
As of now the Mickey Ice Cream have been taken off of the ships.
They are being replaced with Mickey Ice Cream sandwiches until about April from the information we have as of now.
Unfortunately we are unsure of what would be going on past that date.
Should you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.
We look forward to sailing with you!
Have a Magical day!

It's a weaning process :rotfl:
Take away the Mickey Bars and give out Mickey Sandwiches for 2 months. :sad2:

I thought I read that on another thread too. All the sweet things in life are going away...:sad2:

I love Mickey bars too.

I'll buy mine at the parks (even at the high prices) if they're available while I'm there. Then, I'll enjoy the ice cream sandwiches while on the cruise, while dealing with the shortage. I'm glad DCL is providing an alternative. I appreciate that Disney does the best they can.;)

NOOOO!!!

DH says cancel our cruises!!!!!! Carnival Cruise Line here we come...

Please, please, please tell me that the bolded line is a joke. No one would seriously cancel a cruise over a change in a dessert, would they?

I'm slightly bummed that they no longer have the cookie dough ice cream on CC but I wouldn't go nutty and cancel my cruise because of it. Or because a particular brand of honey mustard is no longer on the ship (which I remember the uproar over that).

Oh how I will miss photo ops like this one if they don't have the Mickey bars on our May trip. My granddaughter will be so disappointed!!!

Last November they were $3.75 each at WDW. :scared1:

Doesn't Dove make the Mickey bars? I find it hard that they would not be able to keep up. Also the sandwiches cost more at the parks, so they are losing money by bringing those on.

I'd eat either if it meant I was on a ship. :goodvibes
