No more Mickey Bars

I have never tried a Mickey bar, but reading this thread makes me really want one! Hopefully the supply will be back to normal by January :)

There is something about having a Mickey ice cream on a ship at sea that brings out the little kid in DH and me!

That said...

A co-worker and I have a saying, "Sounds like a First-World problem" that we use when complaining to each other about things like, not having the right cable to hook up the laptop to the TV in order to stream a movie.

Being upset about having ice cream cookie sandwiches instead of Mickey ice cream bars while on a Disney cruise just might qualify as a First World Problem, in the big scope of the universe. :goodvibes

Oh I agree with this 100%! :thumbsup2 I'd still like to know if they've done away with them, in advance. I'm the type where, if they told me in advance that all the dinners on the ship were going to be sandwiches with grilled cheese on formal night, I'd be fine with it. LOL And really, if it weren't for this being DS's DGF's first Disney cruise and all of the talking we've been doing about it, including the bounty of Mickey ice cream bars, then it wouldn't be an issue at all for me. I just like to know what to expect when they make changes like that. :cool2:

You think? :rotfl:

The ice cream sandwiches sound good to me too-I will be fine with either. It probably helps that this will be my first cruise, so I don't have the Mickey Bar tradition that many here have. And, we do have one park day afterwards, so we can always have one then. :)

Just off the Dream - on the first evening I requested a Mickey Bar for my dessert. Our server apologized and said there were on more Mickey Bars - that they had switched to the Mickey Ice Cream sandwich. The chocolate cookie part was a Mickey head and the ice cream was cookies and cream. Not nearly as good. My DBF was a milk man/ice cream man and is very particular about his ice cream. He loves the Mickey Bar - did not care for the quality of ice cream in the sandwich. Meant to try through room service to see what happened; but, ran out of time and stomach room!

IS THIS........An early April Fools Joke.....not cool .....not cool at all!

Yeah, but they're free on the cruise.:rotfl: (Okay, I know I might have opened a can of worms with that one.)

It's a 'mental' thing with me. They're included in the cost of the cruise fare, and knowing I can have AS MANY AS I WANT makes me smile. (I usually have three at the most for the whole cruise duration.):rotfl2:

Well, I just emailed DCL. When I hear back, I'll post their reply here.

This is the third food item that we've been telling DS's DGF about on the cruise, that they may no longer have!

(We had told her how great the pizza is at Palo dinner, and the stollen bread at brunch; neither are available any longer, but at least we'll be able to get the pizza at brunch, unless they change that too!)

I've heard that they are offering 1 or 2 pizza types at dinner since so many people complained. Not sure if this is still true or not. On the Dream a couple of weeks ago at brunch they had the stollen bread which was good.

The Mickey bars sound so good! Actually my 5 year old dd ordered one every night after dinner. I wanted one so bad but could never find the room in my belly to ever try one lol. I was always way to full to eat the good stuff lol. Before the cruise I thought we we going to order them every night from room service that never happend way to tired busy and full. If they still have them when we go back I will have to put it back on my list and skip a meal so I can eat one :rotfl:

Thanks for this info! :thumbsup2

I know exactly what you mean! I feel the same way. :lmao:

They are not gone forever-so, no worries there... However, there is a shortage from their supplier which has happened before.

This is what we were told by our head server on the Wonder last week.

No pizza in Palo for dinner on the Wonder last week. It was still offered for brunch.

Thanks!!!
May try to make some BC it sounds yummy.

At Palo, they also have fresh sliced strawberries, blackberries and blueberries to serve with it. Bread on the bottom, the AWESOME thick, whipped cream on top of that, and then berries atop that. There is also jam available on the side (to mix with the berries and whipped cream.):)

I just checked my cruise insurance policy. There is no provision for "no Mickey bars" as being an allowed reason for cancellation.

How could I have been so stupid to not make sure this was covered?! :rolleyes1

No more Mickey Bars is so sad!!

Hey, anyone know where I could find the post of the Mickey Bar Magnet that I have seen on lots of cabin doors?? Thanks in advance for your help!!
