I had to call MS today about a small problem. During the call the MS rep told me that there are no longer Magic kinngdom views at BLT. The views are now titled theme park views. I was told that this is because some members were complaining about having partial MK views so the view is now called theme park view. This may be old news, but I just heard about it today. Has anyone else heard this?

I wouldn't know. I am more likely to get "dumpster view" given the way I like to stretch my points.

well considering if you get a theme park view below 7th floor - it is still mostly parking lot view.

don't know if that will help....;)

Potatoes, potahtoes. Especially given the the only theme park viewable from BLT is MK.

I think it's a sign that they will be changing the name of the Magic Kingdom.;)

I wonder if that means that the category will be expanded to include other villas since now some of the LV villas also have a glimpse of Epcot, DHS and AK. Some even have a slight view towards Sea World and Universal. Maybe this will expand the "Theme Park View" booking category? :)

I thought it had to do with making the categories more general; is there a "theme park view" at VGC or anywhere else?

That's the view we get too! I don't go to Disney to look at it from a window. Bought into BWV and BLT for the standard rooms and to stretch the points.

Oooh! Have you confirmed this with a bus driver yet?

Yes, he has a cousin who is a janitor.

Seriously, I think they are just standardizing the view categories among all the resorts. For example, GCH and PP at DL have theme park views, more specifically DCA.

Yes there is - but the primary difference at VGC is that the theme park in question (California Adventure) is literally next door (since the hotel & villas are technically considered to be inside of the park with its' own private entrance gate), and the balconies truly overlooking the park's environs instead of hundreds of yards away. 73% of the rooms are classified as "theme park view" - but up to half of that "view" is at a lower level or to the side viewing the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail vs. the more premium view of the Paradise Pier area and the upcoming World of Color show on the lagoon. But they still get by with classifying those lower level floors as "theme park view" because they can technically see the theme park from the room vs. the pools which is the more standard view. To be really specific at VGC, a request would need to be "upper floor theme park view" - otherwise you might be viewing the theme park's wall and perimeter building rooflines (which are technically still viewing the theme park) - just as some of the side rooms at BLT are technically able to see part of the Magic Kingdom, even if not that premium view so often shown in the sales literature.

Probably just some effort at "consistancy" in naming.

For our part, we absolutely adored the lake view we had last fall and I can see myself requesting that everytime. I guess it would be neat to see the fireworks from the room but, not having small children, we loved watching the fireworks from the TOW lounge

I just read the updated news on website and they are changing the name of a studio to deluxe studio. However, it did not mention the mk view.

When we took the members' tour of the lounge atop BLT a couple weeks ago, we weren't the only ones to comment in unimpressed surprise that you couldn't actually see the Magic Kindgom from the lounge (except the highest spires of the castle and Space Mountain) unless you stood on a chair or went outside. The DVC guy leading the proceedings said yes, but from the window over the bar you could see a bit of Sea World and maybe Universal. In that spirit, they could begin calling it 360 degree theme park view.

Things that make you go hmmm.

It's off in the distance, but even # BLT rooms facing the Contemporary pool area have a view of Epcot, HS, and AK.

I sure hope they aren't going to raise the points and call these theme park view rooms though.

Even if they did change the name from Magic Kingdom View to say Theme Park View that's how they call it at the Contemporary, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian. So wouldn't they just be keeping up with how the other Magic Kingdom Monorail Resorts name their room categories?
