No More Little Red on Safari?

I miss seeing the bloody carcass of the mother elephant when you were getting out of the truck.

That's not a joke, they really had a bloody elephant carcass at the end of the Safari! But too many children were traumatized by seeing a dead elephant after seeing so many real elephants running around. The kids didn't "get" that the dead elephant was fake. So Disney removed the dead elephant animatronic.

I think it would say something like "....help me......help me...." as blood dripped onto the ground.

Wasn't this removed during pre-opening trials, and never shown to the general public? Also I thought it was earlier in the ride and kicked off the little red story line. And its removal (though necessary) was why the little red story never seemed quite like a full story.

Yes, you are correct. It was just Annual Passholders' and CM's kids who were traumatized.

It was at the end of the ride after the live animal section of the ride. Shortly after the lions on the Savannah they went into the "chase" portion of the ride. I also agree that the whole Little Red storyline never made much sense.

I imagine the whole scene would've felt the way It's A Small World would feel if its last scene was a long hallway with the two dead girls from The Shining.

Pretty sure little red has been re-purposed to the double Dumbo at MK :dumbo:

Show of hands for who'd like to see this version of small world during MNSSHP.

Anyone? Anyone?

The attraction's newest animatronic figure...

I think that it was gone as of our trip in 2013. So glad to see it go. If you went on the attraction 3-4 times in a trip as we did, you were ready to shoot big and little Red if only they would shut up about it. It always seemed kind of corny to me and took away time from pointing out the real animals for the guides to do that little routine. So much better now to just focus on what you're seeing. Our guide on our December trip did do the "oh - I hope this bridge will hold us" routine. I can live with that.

I liked the change! I felt like they had more time to talk about the animals and dawdle where they were close by instead of having to "chase" a bunch of poachers and tell the story.

So you would've applauded if you saw Big Red lying dead in the grass.

I also miss the part where the bridge felt like it was going to collapse. I just hate change in general! At least they didn't dare take out the Hapa Duniani song halfway through. I love that song!!

They still do the bridge thing sometimes. I think it depends on timing, but they did it on a ride I was on as recently as last May, but they haven't always done it before.

Did they also remove the chainsaw sounds from Kali? We were there last June, and the whole "deforestation" theme of that ride seemed to be toned down as well.

This. I have experienced the bridge shaking recently. As it was explained to me, it depends on the cast member as to whether or not the bridge will shake. It has to be timed correctly and the car has to also be positioned properly on the bridge in order to trigger the sensor for the bridge to shake. Someone who has worked the ride could probably elaborate on this.

I don't know if you watch RuPaul's Drag Race, but I totally read your comment in the voice that they use when someone "throws shade", and I literally lol'd.
Absolutely! It's my favorite show and I can't wait for season 8. And I definitely hear Latrice' s voice whenever I write SHADE!
