No more character dinner at LTT

I wish they would go to an al a carte menu like at lunch.Lunch is awesome there. But I will never pay that price for no characters and Stouffers mac n cheese with turkey.
:thumbsup2 I also love their lunch menu and would love to see it at dinner time now.

Does anyone know why they are taking away the characters?

We ate there last year and we were surprised how good it was and nice. We so enjoyed our meal and time there.

Going to miss the characters

The general thought is that character meals take longer than traditional meals..They may be looking to get people in and out quicker...I tend to agree with this...

Another thought is no characters cuts operating expences...Also very possible....

A third thought is that they are planning to add a new character meal to the MK in the future...Some think it may be a pirate theme...But that is jst one of many rumors...Nothing to hang your hat on.

Well, there are plenty of other restaurants in the World that don't offer character interaction if one wants to get out fast. [/quote]

In fact, character meals are becoming less and less. They just did away with AK's Breakfastasaurus character meal in 2007 ? We rushed to book there before it closed. I think we got in a few weeks before it did. Now this one at LTT ? They did away with Olivia's Pooh breakfast at OKW several years ago.....there used to be a Pocohantas breakfast at the WL maybe 10+ years ago too. But not many new ones have been added ? I know there is the Princess one in Norway that somewhat newer. But my son would never go for that.

What's next ? Do away with characters at Chef Mickey's because it gets people out of the restaurants sooner ? I mean...the character meals are one of the things we enjoy in WDW. My kids much prefer Mickey and gang over Pooh now because they're older. And now, only Pooh character meals at CP exist. This is the MK---the premier/landmark WDW park. I just don't get or agree with it. If ya can't eat with Mickey in the Mk.....then.......

I did not mean that I agree with them getting rid of the character meal...I love LTT...I will miss it VERY MUCH...And I can care less if they can get people in and out quicker...I make our ADR and we are always prepared to wait if we want to attend a meal...The characters were always good there, although we never saw Mickey in the MK...Our family loved the atmosphere especially before a special party...We also enjoyed the food...

I meant that I agree with the "thought" that I have read several times on these boards that DINSEY is looking to get people in and out quicker...

We hope a new character meal is coming to the MK soon ;)

I just highlighted the part of the post I have a question about - didn't they just move the characters from Breakfastosaurus to Tusker House?

Not disagreeing with or questioning any other part of your post, just want to clarify this one example because I am confused. Thanks!!

Yes, they did move the characters to Tusker for breakfast at the AK...We really enjoyed this one too...Mickey, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy are regulars...The food selection is large and the food is quite good...We liked the table set up better at the other one...The tables are very close together at Tusker...But we did enjoy it very much!

Well AMEN to that....I didn't realize that and we even went to Tusker House for lunch this past Aug.
Let's hope this one stays put...........thanks for pointing it out to me.

But Mickey was never at the MK, though. LTT was Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale.

My family went to LT on every trip but with the change it was droped from our Jan trip dinning to do list, the food is good but the characters made it fun and worth it.

Just another budget cut at the world.

Without the characters, dinner at LTT is not appealing to me. The lunch menu is terrific. If they aren't going to have characters, they should switch to a menu similar to the lunch offerings. The dinner service is going to have a big drop in bookings if they keep the all you can eat fare, especially at the current price.

Thanks for letting us know. I missed that somewhere!
We are helping plan a GG for my brother's family christmas 2009 so now I know to tell them not to plan on that!

Such a shame . This was one of our favs. We were chosen as the family to ring the dinner bell once and got our picture taken with all the characters.

Yes, but not at MK. MK has only five TS restaurants. Three of those are currently character meals. MK is the most difficult park at which to get TS restaurant reservations. If Disney's concern was to get patrons through faster in order to free up some TS ADR space at MK - they must be getting many complaints from guests who can't scare up any TS dining at MK - converting a character meal to non-character is the best way to get fast results. Of the character meals at MK, LTT is the logical choice to go. The Pooh and CRT meals are more popular.

I totally agree with this. Dining can be a nightmare at MK.

While it's sad that those characters are leaving, and the classic characters won't be found in dining at MK, I hope they redo the menu and make it better. I've never been impressed with LTT.

I don't know that LTT was the "logical" choice ? HOw are we guaging that CP is more popular ? Mickey is much more appealing to the masses. The CRT is primarily a little girls breakfast (my son would never go there, nor would my teens). Same with Pooh....geared towards toddlers/preschool big time. Mickey is appealing to everyone. And I've had just as difficult a time getting LTT as I have CP. Now CRT, I agree, is pure madness to get. So I guess I respectfully disagree with you Nala and elastigirl.
I don't think it's the character meals that have made dining a nightmare at the MK, I think it's the DDP. Because the DDP has made it near impossible to get ADR's at alot of places, especially a month or less ahead of time. And it never used to be like this prior to DDP.

I will not pay the price for dinner with no characters present. I make much better turkey and I can have Stouffer's out of the box anytime.
With that said, I really enjoy lunch at this location and will continue to dine there for that.

I think the goal though, of removing characters from LTT, is to cut costs and quite possibly to turn tables over faster. That will allow more reservations per evening and hopefully increase the number of ADR's at a restaurant - making it easier to get into.

So often at Character meals you need to stretch your time at the table to see that one last character. Not to mention the minutes spent interacting that aren't spent eating.

Regardless - time will tell on Disney making this call. If they can't fill the restaruant without the characters (Minnie and friends) then maybe they'll bring them back.

Thanks.... just found this thread.
I just read a couple days ago that LTT will be without characters :sad1:
It was our favorite all around.... for the price and location.... it was perfect for us on EMH nights, etc.
So.... now what???????
I have 3 grandsons.... they will not go for the princess thing at Epcot.... and they aren't into Jo Jo's circus at DHS??!!! that show isn't even on any more!
The princesses at the castle..... well, maybe because they have princes.
So that leaves only Ohanas....... and Chef Mickeys (which is always a nightmare..... so crowded and LOUD!!! )

this makes us so sad!!!!
I hate waiting in line, in the hot sun.... just to get a picture! the meals are always very relaxing and fun!

Come on ..... we need character dinners!!!
