No Longer coming to you Live from Disney World! Take 3 DDW'S TAMBU LOUNGE 8/6

Just a reminder that next up to the Disney Dining Plate is ...
:cheer2: ChrisNY2 :cheer2:

with Cruella, Bert, and Mary Poppins in Disneyland

I just love this picture because it seems so random. Burt, Mary...and Cruella, what?

And CONGRATS TO PAULA, wow! :worship: :worship: I can't believe the tallies we've had this month!

Also, are Paula and Hunter going to be at the December DIS meet-up?! Maybe Hunter can talk my hubby into attending the GF Tea with me sometime... :rolleyes1

Speaking of Chris (ChrisNY2), he arrived at Disney World today and sent us his first update.

He said, "My friend Azadeh and I arrived this morning. Our room wasn't ready, so we went for lunch at...

Contempo Cafe

"I had the chicken flatbread, which wasn't amazing, but was a good snack."

"After that we went to the...

Tambu Lounge

...for one of my favourites, the Lapu Lapu."

"These were delicious as usual!"

3 November Game Points Earned + 2 Bonus Points for pic of Chris and Azadeh

Next in today was the final update from Peter (peteykirch). :worried:

"Prior to checking out I had time for a quick lunch at...

"I had the Pork Nachos earlier in my trip so I decided to try something new."

"The "Adult" Grilled Cheese."

"This was on Sunflower seed bread, I don't remember the blend of cheeses on this, but it also had sliced tomatoes inside. It was a great blend of flavors, it was so cheesy, to the point when you bite down and pull the sandwich away you get those gooey long strands of cheese. I thought this had bacon too but it didn't. I'm convinced if you add bacon to this it'll be PERFECT! I had the Poly chips, a mix of house made wonton and potato chips."

"Well that completes my Disney Food experiences. My next update will have my final thoughts and observations of my meals during my stay.

"A few random pictures leaving the Poly for the last time;"

Then Peter sent his final thoughts.

"I've got to admit through the course of my Disney Vacation (6 Days), there really weren't any true disappointments. This has been my only trip to the World solo, and I'll admit there were quite a few places where it seemed I was "really" rushed to get in and out. I understand Disney wants to cash in and get as much turnover as possible for a lunch/dinner service but at a couple places it was ridiculous."

"I'll start off with the bad. The worst food and service hands down for me was the Rose and Crown Pub & Dining Room. I understand a "Pub" is supposed to be relaxed, laid back service but there was no reason for my entree to come out before my soup. The entree was fish and chips and you could easily tell it was mass produced because it was out less than 2 minutes after my waiter took my order."

"The fish itself was soggy and overly greasy, though the chips were quite delicious. I tried to flag down my server but it was to no avail, and then when he came about he was shocked that I finished my soup and finished my main, when in reality I never got my soup. I told him to cancel the soup but before he could leave a runner arrived with the soup (Potato and Leek) which was delicious it was just a disappointment in service that soured the entire experience. Outside of that lone experience nothing was really disappointing."

"My biggest surprise would have to be The Wave for it's delicious and quite filling breakfast buffet. The one item on that buffet which won me over were their Cheddar and Smoked Bacon Grits."

"I never had grits prior to this, and these sold me on them quite easily. I loved how the buffet featured slightly "healthier" fare and showcased a few different takes on breakfast classics."

"The old stand bys (California Grill, LTT, Captain Cooks) were as delicious as they always were. I was iffy on the California Grill since they reopened and seemed to be getting not so favorable reviews, but I found the entire experience to be flawless. I had perhaps two of my favorite things I ate the entire trip at the California Grill."

Pork Belly Nigiri

Seasonal Tasting of Desserts (Heirloom Apple)

"Liberty Tree Tavern is and will always be the first sit down meal I eat to start my Disney vacation. I just have to have the Pot Roast and the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake."

"I also wanted to try a few new places (Artist Point, Citricos, Be Our Guest, Via Napoli) I found everything at Artist Point to be wonderful the flagship Smoky Portabello Mushroom Soup is as good as advertised."

"Citricos; I wasn't blown away with my entree, but the pork belly appetizer was heavenly."

"Be Our Guest, it was good but it wasn't the life changing experience a lot of people pegged it to be when it first opened."

"Via Napoli was a pleasant surprise! The arancini so delicate but flavorful. Not a large portion but it is very dense and very filling. The pizza was great! Being from NJ and living in the Metro NJ/NY area it's nearly impossible to find bad pizza so I'm a hard marker, but this was easily my 2nd or 3rd favorite pizza I ever tasted."

"This was my first trip during F&W, and even as a non-drinker the food portion was worth the trip. Everything I sampled was delicious, nothing went to waste and I made numerous trips to Hawaii for that incredible pork slider, and to Brazil for their pork belly. If I had to pick the worst thing I ate at F&W it was the lamb meatball from New Zealand. Not that it was bad, it just wasn't memorable. It just tasted like a regular meatball, nothing overly special."

"When it comes to snacks, the only real "new" snack for me was the carrot cake cookie, and it lived up to the hype! Especially when you let it get nice and cold in the fridge. I do regret not making time to hit up Sleepy Hollow for one of their waffle sandwiches. The dole whips were as sickly sweet and refreshing as I remember, and the German caramel shop made the trek to the far reaches of EPCOT worth the blisters."

"I guess this closes my Food Reporting for this trip. I'm already crunching the numbers to see if I can swing a trip in February or March, don't know about going solo though, it was fun to go at my own pace and see what I want to see, but the meals were quiet and a bit boring. Thank goodness for free Disney WiFi."

"It was a fun time, and thanks for reading my culinary journey."

:cheer2: DaisyluvzGoofy :cheer2:

Christine and her DH will be at Disney World from 11/8 - 11/16 and has volunteered to again do live updates for us!

HAVE A GREAT TRIP, Daisy & Goofy!!! :cool1:

Thanks for the wonderful intro Barb! Goofy and I are so excited to get going! We arrive today, but no food updates until tomorrow, the 9th. Sorry gang!

30i9s8h.jpg

We're staying offsite and have tons planned! This is our third trip in 18 months, and our ADR's a mix of "must do's", "why didn't we do this last time?" and "one more time!"

New to us will be SOA, The Wave, the tea room, etc. We always hit our top three: Coral Reef, Beeches & Cream and end our vacation with Narcossee's.

We'll be attending MVMCP on Thursday as well! I am an absolute lover of Christmas and all things snowflake so if any cupcakes have a nice big snowflake, you bet you'll be seeing an update on that bad boy! :woohoo:

Can't wait to get started!!

One more update was received last night, this one from Kim (Kimmy2Disney).

She said, "Monday night Joe and I had a date night dinner scheduled so mom grabbed a quesadilla at Pepper Market (which of course I forgot to take a pic of!) but I took all these menu pics while walking around so figured id send them over anyway."

"Joe and I drove over to Wilderness Lodge for our dinner at one of my favorites!!!"

Artist Point

"I am a fan of the buffalo and was disappointed to see its alone entree was taken off the menu. :( I asked if there was a way I could just get it, but was told no. Bright side was that the server said the trio was 6 oz buffalo, 3 oz venison, and only one ounce boar sausage. So the 6 ounces was good enough for me!"

"Here are our drinks- apple martini and classic martini. Yum!"

"My salad - the ice wine vinaigrette is awesome!"

"Joe's confit of bacon- he was really looking forward to this and it did not disappoint. He loved it!"

"My trio (buffalo in the back, sausage in the middle, venison up front)...

"I'm SO glad I ended up ordering this!! The buffalo was awesome! I thought the venison was gamey, but Joe loved it and enjoyed the sausage too!"

"Joe got the scallops and everything about this dish was delicious!"

"For dessert I got the crime brûlée trio...

...and Joe had the lemon curd dessert."

"We scraped the plates clean. Everything was so so good! We thought about changing this ADR when I saw the menu change, but I'm so glad we didn't!"

Signing up to be a live reporter 11/2-11/7 did not work out but here's a quick rundown of where we ate & what we thought:

TS:
Ohana dinner - an old favorite. It was good, but not great. We had a long wait & were tired from our day of travel. Bread was stale, dumplings (which I usually love) were dry. Everything else was very good though so we still enjoyed it & would definitely go back but it just wasn't one of our better visits there.

Tusker House breakfast - everyone LOVED it. Ham, tater tots, juice, kripy kremes were everyone's favorites. My DS(13)'s favorite meal in Disney. This one was the biggest surprise of the trip.

Via Napoli lunch - another big hit with everyone. Chicken parm was good, but the pizza was great. Everyone wants to do this one again next time.

Rose & Crown dinner - it was very good. Food was good (fish & chips & steak), service was good. Not a must do for us next time, but would gladly return if we couldn't get in to one of our favorites.

Kona Cafe dinner - food was good (sushi, steak, pork chop). Service was excellent just not a must do for us next time but like R & C we would gladly return.

50's Prime Time - DH & kids really liked this place. DH thought it was the best pot roast he's ever had. Fried chicken was good. I liked it, but not quite as much as they did...I don't know why. I would definitely return, but we have so many other favorites & I really like trying new places so I doubt we'll be back anytime soon.

QS:
POR foodcourt breakfast 2 days & lunch 1 - it was good. The magic cookie bar is awesome!!!! Everything else was just good.

Be Our Guest lunch - we got a surprise FP+for this. Pre-order wasn't there so we had to order via touch screen (no big deal). The theming is amazing the food was hit & miss. The croque monsieur & cupcakes were delicious. The french onion soup was bland & the roast beef sandwich was not the best. DH likes his meat rare & this was too raw for him & it was grisly. Probably wouldn't return but glad we did it once.

WPE dinner - it was very good, but wasn't wowed. We had pepperoni pizza, meatloaf & mac & cheese. I wouldn't make a special trip to DD just to eat here again.

Main Street Bakery Starbucks breakfast - We had a surpising 5 QS credits left on our last day so we used them here. DH & I got lattes (venti) & breakfast sandwiches. Kids got fraps (venti) & pastries & fruit. Everything was great. Probably not a great value but we enjoyed it. The place was packed but moved quickly.

Snacks:
Karmel Kuche - carmel corn (tasted stale), rice crispy treat covered in choc w/ carmel drizzle (huge & delicious), carmel/marshmallow roll (very good) & chewey carmel bar (OMG delicious...shortbread & carmel...I kept saying that it was the best thing I have ever tasted...so good).

Goofy's: 2 create your own Mickey rice crispy treats dipped in choc w/ butterfinger & white choc drizzle & a gingerbread Mickey dipped in choc w/ oreos & white choc drizzle. All very good, lasted for days...great use of a snack credit.

Writer's Stop: carrot cake cookie- delicious & very big...great use of a snack credit.

Main Street Confectionary: fudge (good), red velvet cake pop (DS enjoyed it...I thought it tasted raw), choc. covered pipeapple (very good, very fresh)

Misc: popcorn (DS enjoyed it...just OK for the rest of us), frozen lemonades (very good)

That's all I can think of right now. It was a great trip. Sorry again for no live reporting. We're not big picture takers so I don't know what I was thinking.

Our First Update(s) of the Day was sent to us by our Disneyland reporter, Anne (scanne).

She said, "Yesterday's lunch was in Disneyland park. The kids had chicken nuggets from the...

Stage Door Cafe

while DH and I had pulled pork sandwiches from...

River Belle Terrace

"This was fine. The bread from the pulled pork sandwich was a good ciabatta, but the sandwich came with pasta salad and cole slaw and there wasn't an option for fries. Since I don't care for either of those sides, I just ate the sandwich."

"The kids had frozen apple juice as their drink."

"We also had a few snacks - one was the Boysenapple Drink from...

Maurice's Treats

"DH liked the Boysenapple drink better than just the plain frozen apple juice. It was good but very sweet."

"We also had a chocolate twist pastry from there."

"Later on we got a Tigger Tail for my DD from....

Pooh Corner

"This is white chocolate covered marshmallows dipped in orange sugar crystals and striped with chocolate. Here's a whole tray of them."

"This was so super sweet...I had one small bite and that was enough for me. But the kids loved it."

"I also took some pics of these cute Winnie the Pooh snacks...

"Too cute!!!"

"We also had to have the "must eat while in Disney" Dole Whip from the...

Tiki Juice Bar

"This is my DD holding a dole whip and a cool tiki cup filled with pineapple juice. My DH loved the tiki cup. It's coming home with us!"

Anne also sent us an update from their dinner last night at Downtown Disney's...

Crossroads
at

House of Blues

She said, "We started with buffalo wings...

"Very good and not too spicy."

"We all had burgers, the kids had mini-cheeseburgers."

"DH had the jerk seasoned turkey burger and I had a cheeseburger with mushrooms. My phone died so I don't have pics of the grown ups' burgers. The burgers were great though! And we had sweet potato fries. Yum!"

Next in this morning was an update from Disney World sent to us by Kim (Kimmy2Disney).

"Tuesday we had FP+ for lunch at...

"When we arrived the lady checked us in and our reservation was for 5, as it had Kimberly on their twice. :confused3 I had preordered, but she told me to get in line for a kiosk, when I got there my order hadn't saved so I had to start over. Obviously a few glitches there, but at least we didn't have to wait in the long line over the bridge."

"We tried the French onion soup - cheesy and good!"

"Mom and I had the pork - good as usual!"

"Joe loves this salad as a QS option!"

"Our cupcakes - the grey stuff was delicious!"

"It was certainly a bit crazier than usual and we waited longer than we ever have for our food - prob a good 15 mins. I think FP+ might be throwing them for a loop here. There was one CM walking around all crazy asking to check people's receipts. Still a great QS option in MK!"

Then we received the final updates from Melissa (Kenai1972), who's trip ended on Tuesday. :worried:

She said, "On 11/3 we started off our day just eating some of the snacks we had left in our room. Then we had our lunch at Downtown Disney's...

"Greg had the Cannonballs - meatballs, mozzarella and parmesan cheese and marinara sauce."

"I had the The Original 1762 - fresh roasted beef, cheddar and creamy horseradish sauce."

"These were really good sandwiches and this was our first time here."

"For dessert Greg had the strawberry shortcake."

"While I had one of the seasonal peppermint brownies."

3 November Game Points Earned + 1 Bonus Point for name

On Sunday Melissa & Greg had dinner at Downtown Disney's...

Fulton's Crab House

"We started with the Crab Boursin and crackers."

"For appetizers we had the Portobello Mushroom Fries - Orange Blossom Pilsner battered, mustard sauce."

"And the Calamari - Flash fried strips, tomato basil sauce."

"For entrees, Greg had the Narragansett, Rhode Island Lobster - One pound and a quarter lobster, shrimp, scallop, spinach and mushroom stuffing, toasted breadcrumbs."

"While I had the Alaska King Crab - One pound, steamed."

"And Shelled...

"Overall this was a pretty good dinner. We took our dessert to go and never really tried it. We had plans for the evening to attend Magic Kindom's...

Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party

"Here is Greg's Plate of Desserts...

...and mine."

"This was fantastic. The desserts were good but the location for the fireworks, parade and Celebrate the Magic was the best part of the party."

13 November Game Points Earned

Next Melissa said, "For breakfast on 11/4 we had a prepark ADR for...

"Greg's Cold Plate...

"My Cold Plate...

"Hot Plate...

"This was a great breakfast. I had tried the dinner previously and this was a first for breakfast. It is definitely on our return list."

3 November Game Point Earned + 2 Bonus Points for sign and menu pics

Melissa's next update was from their lunch on 11/4 at Epcot's...

"I hate to say this was the worst meal in all of our meals. We had very poor service. We waited 15 minutes to be acknowledged by our waiter and then waited another 15 minutes to get our drinks and water. When he brought out our drinks he threw the cocktail napkin at me and was in general very rude to me. He was perfectly nice to Greg. After we were finally able to order be brought out rolls and butter and the butter had been previously melted with another slab of butter thrown on top haphazardly."

"For appetizers Greg had the Coral Reef Sriracha Shrimp."

"While I had the Field Greens with Pomegranate Vinaigrette, Beets, crumbled Blue Cheese, and crispy Prosciutto."

"The bread in the picture was from Greg tasting it without the butter."

"For mains Greg had the Grilled Mahi Mahi with Laughing Bird Shrimp, Hearts of Palm, Jasmine Rice, Cilantro, and a Coconut-Lime Sauce."

"While I had Coral Reef Lobster Orecchiette Pasta with White Cheddar Cheese and Basil Oil."

Dessert Menu

"For Dessert Greg had Vanilla Panna Cotta Tart with Florida Key Lime."

"I had The Chocolate Wave served with Raspberry Gelato."

"Sorry for the blurry picture."

"I would probably return to Coral Reef at some time. The food was good. I was just less than happy with our waiter. I guess one out of all of our meals was not bad at all."

I've heard from our Disneyland reporter Anne (scanne) and she is now on her way home and has completed her reporting.

So since we have received Anne's final update, it's now time to say...

Thanks so much for being a Live Reporter... Good Job!!! :thanks:

scanne's Total Oct./Nov. Game Points Earned = 84

Then Melissa said, "For dinner on 11/4 we went to...

"For our appetizer we chose the Fritto Misto - an assortment of just-fried seasonal vegetables, calamari & cheese. Serves 2 people. Arancini, mozzarella, calamari, melanzane, asparagi, zucchini, artichoke, pomodoro piccante sauce."

"For our entrees we both chose the individual pizzas."

"Greg had the Piccante - Italian spicy sausage."

While I had Funghi - portobello, crimini mushrooms."

"We took our dessert to go so that we could go back to our room and begin packing since we had to be on the 7am Unmagical Express."

"Tiramisu...

Then Melissa concluded her updates with her final thoughts.

She said, "For Breakfast on 11/5 we had picked up baguette sandwiches from France and enjoyed them on the plane home. We did not take pictures of them."

"I thought I would give you a list of our favorites and what we thought of the Deluxe dining plan."

"First off the Deluxe dining plan was fun but way too much food. I know for my next trip I am going to do it differently unless we happen to be going during free dining then I would upgrade to it."

"For favorites I broke this up into 1 credit restaurants and 2 credit ones."

1 Table Service Credit:

We both chose the Dole Whip Float for our favorite snack.

We really only had 1 dish that was not very good and that was the crab and lobster dip for two from Liberty Tree Tavern."
