"No flash photography please"

I guess flash photography is not a problem for the fast moving rides.

You never see anyone popping off snapshots on Dinosaur, Tower of Terror, Rockin' Roller Coaster, Space Mountain ... etc

Too busy holding on for dear life. :scared1:

:lmao:
bolding is mine...
Guess you weren't on the same ride as me on ToT
no flash needed for this photograph..... :lmao:

have they always had these announcements? you see i went many years ago as a teen and took many flash photos on rides (they are no longer in my possession). we had photos on everything from splash mountain to small world to pirates.

this past trip i listened when they said no flash photos but dont remember hearing it on rides like its a small world (it was our first day) so i took them and noticed a lot of other people doing it as well so i didnt realize it was such a problem. by the end of the trip i realized the no flash photo announcement was everywhere and felt like i wasnt allowed to take photos of anything.i feel like i came back with a million photos of buildings and me with characters beacuse i couldnt take photos anywhere. my bigger photo problem was people who walk into photos. my mum tried to take a nice pic of me at a small fountain. i sat down and as she went to take the photo someones child leaned over and started to splash around IN the fountain and the parent never removed them from the situation. that was probably the same parent who arrived two minutes after the parade started and told their child to push their way to stand in front of me. :lmao:

If Disney really wanted to fix the problem, they could.

Put up some big symbol signs on any ride where flash pictures aren't allowed.

Escort the violators from the park and void their admission ticket for the day.

That seems REALLY harsh for such a minor infraction. I mean, the flash photos ARE annoying, but they are hardly on the level of underage drinking, or having a physical altercation with another guest, or doing something untoward on a dark ride.

Why on earth do they have to put up ugly signs all over the place when people just need to listen and consider, maybe on their own, that it would be rude to have lights going off in the midst of a ride.

I cannot stand this either. It ruins the ride! People need to use common sense!

PoTC was the only ride we saw people using flash photography on last week. The CM had just finished the no flash spiel when a guy took a flash photo while still in the loading area. The CM said very loudly, no flash photography. He stopped, but the chicks right in front of him fired away the entire time. I'm glad they were in the boat in front of us, and a good way up. I though dd was going to go for a swim and knock their heads off.

Speaking of a swim (thread hijack ahead) my family was on Kali River on Friday last week and were stuck for about 10-15 minutes out on a raft. A CM told dh that some teens had done something they shouldn't have and that they were dealing with them--very stern, not happy. He got the idea that they had jumped into the river. I would think that is worthy of banning from the park--and maybe even all of WDW. Not the brightest bulbs...........

A little off topic.
In May, while my family was on Spalsh Moutain. The guys in the log in front of ours had several boys. They looked to be around 18 or 19, but i am not sure. In the first cave, the boys took their shirts off and we kept hearing, "put your shirts back on" throughout the ride. At first i thought i was hearing things. Then when we got close to the hill before the big drop, they said it louder 2 more times. Then the ride stopped and they put on the lights. We kept yelling to them to put their shirts back on. The Cm said it about 5 more times before a cast member came out of the control booth and walked down to them.
I thought that maybe they didn't speak English and didn't understand, but we were behind them walking out and they were speaking English just as well I do.
Needless to say that it was our last ride at WDW for that trip and it was ruined by immature people that think it's ok to ruin it for everyone else.

Really my original question was two pronged,

first, why didn't they do the "no flash photography" announcements at WDW, which I've learned they do sometimes.

Second, what's worse to the story, a flash or the voice of God telling you to not take flash photography?

A flash. God wouldn't have to make the announcement if people were considerate, rather than selfish.

The flash is worse. Bill my dbf has Cerebral Palsy and has a startle reflex. Every time some inconsiderate person uses a flash in a dark ride it upsets and startles him. It is rude and people shouldn't do it.

The last trip we went on, during the Ariel show, one person was so bad that a CM actually stood next to the stage with a bright red sign that stated no flash. The person taking the picture just wouldn't listen. It ruined the entire show for us as we couldn't get "into the moment" and all we saw were bright lights. I think Ariel was a bit annoyed, too!

Everybody's got their pet peeves. For me, flash photos in the no-flash-photos area is worse than all the line-jumping, pool-hopping and refillable mug-using combined. Just totally ruins the attraction experience.

I COMPLETELY AGREE! It totally ruins the experience and immersion in the magic for me and DD. Then all I can think about is how STINKIN' MAD I AM!!!!

Thats a pretty harsh blanket statement, I still believe that most or at least 85-95% of the folks are taking photos not aware of the policy. taking a photo of Barbosa or Jack in a barrel is still pretty trival in my Disney book of pet peeves, certainly if someone is turning around and shooting in my direction with the flash and blinding me...then certainly that could be a problem for me because heck, i'm in your picture.....and this is most certainly a being "polite" issue. There must be something to this, quite alot of you cannot stand it. I for one years ago found that I was experiencing life not for myself but through a viewfinder so I put the camera down long ago, and now watching life for my own eyes.

#1 pet peeve for me is the folks that aimlessly stop and change directions in front of me while i'm traveling in a straight line with my DD stroller, then look at me like i'm at fault when I slam your heels, seriously folks? do you drive that way too. and for God sake make up your mind where you are going before you get into a huge crowd of folks going in one direction.

Harsh? It ruins the experience of the other riders. It shouldn't take a genius to figure out it is not pleasant for others. It is putting your want of a picture over the comfort and enjoyment of others.

It isn't the biggest issue in the world. It is just selfish and rude.

btw, he asked a question and I gave a straightforward answer.

You misunderstood me, it is indeed rude to ruin the experience for someone with your actions like knowingly taking a flash photo when it irriates the other folks in the boat, Thats selfish. it's also irritating to know that someone is flashing off pictures knowing the policy, again selfish. I just think it's harsh that you made a blanket statement that "EVERYONE" taking a flash photo is selfish and out to ruin your experience on the ride. It's not criminal in this country to take pictures, and under most circumstances taking a picture is usually not irritating to other folks, so using that logic I could see how a newbie on a boat taking a few flash photos of Jack in a barrel could be totally oblivious to irritating "YOU" on a boat....not selfish at all, just not aware.

The last time I went to WDW, one of our first stops was at PoTC and I was so horrified that the boat in front of me had about 100 flashes go off in the course of the ride...and not one announcement telling them to stop. It really ruined the magic for me. :( Fortunately though we did ride again later and had a much better experience! :) :)

I would love for them to not just make announcements, but accost repeat offenders at the end of the ride and do something...I don't know what--it doesn't really warrant ejection from the park or anything--and most people who are that rude wouldn't care about a 'stern talking to'--but something's gotta be done.

They need a time out. 30 minutes of just sitting there not being able to ride anything.
