You put the quarter in the cart to get it free from the other carts. To get your quarter back, you have to take it back and hook it to the other carts. So, if you leave it in the parking lot, it'll cost you the quarter.;) Mostly, I am excited about detergent and trash bags and the like. Rock bottom cost and great quality.:goodvibes

I love it, no carts rolling into your car in the parking lot. I think there are Aldis in my state just not near me. Maybe someday:)

But, my big budget happiness is that ALDI is coming to Texas!:dance3: I can't begin to tell you how much I miss them. They open next year in DFW, can the rest be far behind? Seriously, if they come to Houston, I will plan a trip over every couple of months, or plan it when I travel there for work. Come on baby! Momma's got a shiny quarter for her cart!

Yea!!! :goodvibes

I LOVE Aldi... I can't seem to keep out of that store. :rolleyes1

I went in today for a block of cheese, and $15.75 later exited with 10 sauce seasoning packets (alfredo, rosa, hollandaise, bearnaise, pesto), lemon caper simmer sauce, phyllo dough, 4 frozen mini baguettes, pumpkin spice creamer, string cheese, sharp cheddar & almond cheese ball, cracker assortment, and, thankfully, the cheddar cheese. :rotfl2:

Really, though, where else could I buy that much for that price? :teacher:

Also picked up my organic produce box today.

Ugh. I knew it would be a big day. DH's family is coming this weekend, so I had to triple the usual food, plus they couldn't say if they would be here Friday, or Saturday or if they were leaving Saturday or Sunday. Really?:confused3 Can we not just make a plan here? Do I need four meals? Five meals? Six meals? This just kills the planner in me, especially since I am a retail manager and well, it is the weekend before Thanksgiving. If something happens and they don't come, it'll be ham and lasagna for a week.*sigh*

smiller~ To be honest, it was my jealousy of your Aldi postings that made me check.:lmao:

Siouxstone, my relatives do the same. Crazymaking. I'm happy to host but PLEASE have the courtesy to let me know what meals you will be here to eat. I've had people call in the morning planning to shop on the trip and STILL not ready to say if they will want lunch or dinner at our house that day.

You are smart to choose foods that will make excellent leftovers.

Keep smiling.

I did it again... someone keep me out of the Aldi!!! :lmao::rotfl2::upsidedow:rolleyes1

At least it was only carrots and a dessert for when a girlfriend comes over tomorrow night. ;)

(Which is also why i needed the bottle of wine from TJ's.)

I just found this thread and I love it! I've been sorting out my budget big time lately because we just booked this Disney trip on a whim a couple of weeks ago when the kids exemptions in high school were canceled because of H1N1 (before if they missed 4 or less days a semester they could opt out of 1 exam each semester) but kids were going to school with H1N1 so they wouldn't miss their exemptions so board canceled them all. Kids were upset but then we said oh well let's do Disney then since you don't have to worry so much about missed school days.

Anyway it being a not planned trip it is blowing holes in my budget. I paid flights and deposit on Disney so credit card is now at $4500 and my goal is to have that paid off when the remainder of Disney is due December 20th. Then the balance of $4100 will go on the credit card and I want to have that balance paid off before we leave February 3rd so the only thing facing me when we get back is what we spend down there and we have the meal plan so I am hoping less than $1000.

So starting today I am in on this "game"

Nov 19 -33.22 credit (returned kids semi formal dresses and got the new sale price) so I am off to a good start, let's see how I do tomorrow.

My sister-in-law swears by Aldi's but there is not one near me so I have to make do with Meijer. This month feel like I am nickel and diming my way to the poor house with my grocery spending. I have only done one big trip but lots of little trips for filling in stuff and now my budget is almost spent and I still have to shop for Thanksgiving. Fortunately my brother is getting the turkey from a friend who is in fact, a turkey farmer!
