No Buy June - Everybody welcome, jump on the bandwagon!

I very halfheartedly attempted a no buy goal in April and failed miserably. I had just started using an actual budget and was not very good at it.

let see if i can do this! this is my first time doing this! so lets see.....

gas for the van $50
household assec. $50
groceries $400
mis. $300

total-$700

no spend days im going for 18!!

i guess im pretty lucky cause i dont have a drivers license yet so i cant just go out and spend! im saying $300 for mis. cause i still need to get a fathers day gift, my neice a bday gift and we may get a gazabo. we found one at big lots for $150!! but if we decide not to get it thats $150 off my mis. list. its still up in the air. we may just put it towards our savings for Disney!

I agree with neatokimmo, we also bought one of these Gazebos and in the first good windstorm it blew down. I also took mine back. Doesn't seem like something built to stand the weather conditions. I know several others who had the same experience, IMO it was a waste of money.

Hello neatokimmo, nice to see you again. :wave2: I decided to try and get back on to No Buy. I remember your $0.00 days marathon when you were home with your daughter. It is much easier to do when you don't have to leave the house, I must be an enigma though because I am home and still manage to spend too much. :rotfl:

Back for more! My budget is $1000 this month, but the first 3 weeks will be a challenge. It's a long story, so I won't elaborate, but I have about $350 until June 25th, then the rest of my disposable income comes in.

I only do a specific budget for groceries, because I spend almost nothing in gas and eating out is not a a budget buster for us. We only eat out twice a month or so. My DH just bought our meat in bulk a couple days ago, so we should have meat for the first 2 weeks, which will make it easier to make the grocery budget this month.

I'm also going to list my coupons/sale savings this month, it makes it easier for me to track.

Running Total: Spent $27
$1000...973 left
$0 Days:
Goal is 10 or more!
coupon saving $11

Groceries- $200- 22= 178

June 1 27 - ( groceries/bd cards)

Ok, I'm gonna give June a shot.
I wasn't sure I was going to join June's thread...I really lost my drive at the end of May - I don't even think I recorded the last week or so. I had lost my "no buy" willpower and went a bit overboard on one of my CC's :sad2: (which I'm paying down as quickly as possible!)

But on to June! Heres a quick rundown:

Goal: 15 NO $pend day$. That's half the month! BUT! I have budgeted well, and raised my "allowance" so no more overspending on the CC...
Secondary Goal: Ca$h trip to the World in the fall.

6-1 - :) NO $PEND.

1 of 15 NO $PEND DAY$ :cheer2:

Count me in! I am ready to get started.:cool1:

I am budgeting $800 this month for groceries, entertainment and events. My DD's birthday and my dad's birthday are this month, plus Father's day for DH and both our dads.

I am also shooting for 15 no buy days.

DD got married Sat. and we came in under budget. But, it was way too complicated and busy to try to track as a no-buy May. Glad to be back.

June is going to be full of fix up the house projects so we will be spending many days.

My target is to spend no more than $100 on clothes, just-fun or impulse stuff. So, ice cream runs, movies, eating out, art show, etc will count toward this total.

Hooray, it's June:banana:! May was a crazy busy, crazy spending month so I'm glad to be able to slow down enough to track spending better. We are doing a spruce-up of our deck- some new cushions and plants/flowers, so that, and father's day and a trip to Omaha to see Beauty and the Beast at the end of June are the main extra expenses I can forsee. Next week I'm teaching bible school, and hosting 2 college girls (who are also teaching bible school) for 4 days, so the grocery bill will go up some, but after that, I'm hoping to use up some of the things in our pantry and freezer. I'm shooting for 15 no-buy days, hopefully that will work around the impromptu trips to the pool and ice-cream shop!:)

I'm new too :) I lurked on the May thread the last few days and decided to try it this month.

I use the envelope system with cash for purchases and it works pretty well, but I'd like to do better. It's just me and DH since our last child left the nest in January, so we've cut our budget quite a bit already.

I hate to shop, but when I do, I always see "stuff" that I want ;) but don't need. My other weakness is eating out - especially just a quick stop on the way home for a snack or a drink. I work part-time and get off around lunchtime so it's easier to just stop on the way home for a quick drive through meal than to go home and cook. Hopefully the thought of having a $0 day will help with that!

I have 6 envelopes, but for convenience I'll combine some of them.
Groceries/Household - $500
Eating Out - $105
Extras (Haircuts, Books, Postage, Misc.) - $145
No Buy Goal - 15/30 days

Congratulations on your DD wedding!

Thanks Tinkarooni. We spent every dime I've made selling books online these past three years and then some. But it was, without any doubt, one of the best weekends of my life. Once your daughter finds a fabulous groom, the rest is just frosting.

The best man's toast included "a way to be close to your new mother-in-law"-- a map of DisneyWorld. :rotfl:

Another month starting, hope I will do better on this one!
Gonna set a lower No Buy days goal, and hope I reach it this time!!!
No Buy Days Goal: 9

I'm back. I made this as a New Year's Resolution so after this month I will be half way to doing a whole year resolution and while this is the best I have ever done at one, I am excited to think I might do one for the whole year! That would be something! My goal is to surpass my normal goal of 15 No Spend Days.

This month as started off bad. I did a big stock-up at the grocery store between Giant Eagle and Trader Joe's. Then we went out to lunh but we had a $15 giftcard so for three of us it was pretty cheap (my cousin joined us). At Giant Eagle I also bought the new Alice in Wonderland DVD since I had a ten dollar coupon and you got $.40 towards your fuelperks.

I am trying not to go out anyplace else all week. I have no plans this week so that should help keep me out of the stores.
My June Budget is:

Groceries- $200/ $139.22 left
Household- $50/ $45.94 left
Gas/Car- $50
Eating Out/ Entertainment- $50/ $28.93 left
Misc- $50/ $35.01

Total budget: $400/ $299.10 left

Goal of 17 no buy days.

6/1- $21.07 Lunch, $60.78 Groceries, $4.06 Household, and $14.99 Alice in Wonderland

June 1 - $12.00/$900 groceries

Remaining:
Groceries $888.
My allowance: $120
Fun Money: $100

DH is on his own with allowance. I don't care what he spends it on but no coming back looking for more. :rotfl: He knows if he does overspend it will be reported here. :lmao:

Really wasn't prepared for dinner tonight. Took a frozen ziti out of the freezer and made a garden salad. Voila, no eating out. Kids last day of school is tomorrow and I think I can really save by having us cook at home and eat up all of the leftovers. Intend to teach both kids some more cooking skills this summer, maybe I can get them making lunches. :rolleyes1

If your kids are anything like mine that will be one of their favorite parts of vacation. My kids LOVE to help cook. Today I made stuffed shells. My DD8 was home today (had a rash, doctor wanted to monitor it but seems a reaction to the heavy chlorine in the pool at our hotel this weekend, point is, not sick.) She had a great time mixing the filling, breaking the egss and stuffing the shells and was very proud when daddy said how good dinner was tonight, that it tasted even better then normal for :some reason" :rolleyes1 . They think it is a fun activity, not work.

I'm going to try this for the first time. May was a terrible month for us. Dh got two speeding tickets totaling $465 and both kids needed new glasses which was over $300. This month we have a night booked at Great Wolf Lodge for my birthday and Father's Day.

June 1-
$30 at WalMart for fresh fruit
$50 at Hobby Lobby for scrapbook supplies
$11 at Sonic for lunch
$23 Dh took out money for a haircut
Total $114 (ouch!)

Starting tomorrow no eating out or spending money until the weekend.

Goal: 20 no spend days.
