They are a waste to us.We bring our half gallon, and quart portable Igloo coolers with us,we get 12 gallons of spring water from Garden Grocer, and use Crystal Light Pink Lemonade to mix with the water and fill our jugs in the morning to tote with us wherever we go! We get ice after our "drink" is gone until we get back to our room-works like a charm, and we don't get dehydrated in the BLAZING heat of Aug.-Sept. Soda, coffee, tea etc... are not, well.our "cup of tea"!!!;) We do however buy the occassional Powerade for a change of pace!!!:goodvibes I should be getting paid for this shameless brand promotion!!!!

I say yes but I can't explain why because it doesn't fit within the rules of your opening post. :)

I voted yes:

Even at lets say $15.00 per mug (tax whatever..) $60.00 family of 4

Staying 8 days

DH has 2 cups of coffee each morning, I have one coffee, one tea
DH has 1 soda and one tea each day, I have at least 2 more unsweet teas per day
Each child has 2-3 cups per day.

Let's use $1.00 per coffee, $1.50 per soda, and $1.00 per tea just as a guide.

morning coffee/tea 28 servings $28.00
evening tea for me 16 servings $16.00
evening tea for DH 08 servings $ 8.00
evening soda for DH 8 servings $12.00
soda's for the kids 24 servings $36.00

Total cost of bare minimum $100.00 or a $40.00 savings. Plus I never have to say no to the kids if they are thirsty.... that alone is priceless.

I said yes, because we typically use ours at least once per day, and always go for a week. That said, we are staying club level this year, so it may not be worth it for us to get them. We shall see.

The refillable mug is about $14.

A fountian soda or coffee is about $2.25

14 / 2.25 = 6.222

If you will drink 7 or more soda / coffees at the resort the mug is a economic value.

Yes, is my vote too. Great for coffee (don't really want to use a snack credit on that) and the frozen Coke at Pop. And yes, I am one that buys them on Ebay which I know has been a great source of disgust and debate. Great value and nothing my dishwasher can't sterilize. Sorry!

It depends. It's not worth it if you're on the DDP and you do breakfast in your room.

In all other circumstances, it's worth it. If you need a morning coffee and/or if you'd be buying drinks with your meals, then it's well worth buying the mug.

Another thing to consider is the location of your room. Are you really going to walk from the far end of the Rancheros section to Pepper Market every morning for coffee? If your room is far from the food court, you might not be using the mug much. But if your room is close to the food court, you could be using it more often.

There was only 1 trip when we didn't buy mugs. The kids and I were on the DDP so we had free drinks with our meals. We had a cooler in the room loaded with juice boxes and waters. During that trip, I wasn't drinking coffee. We weren't going to use the mugs much, so we didn't buy them. We have bought them and used them during other trips and appreciated the savings. On those trips, we weren't on the DDP and I did drink coffee.

ETA: I haven't decided yet whether we'll buy the mugs on our next trip. We'll be on the DDP but might get the mugs anyway if we think we'll use them enough. If the mugs have a new design by Sept. (I hope they do!), we'll probably buy them for the souvenir value as well as getting a few drinks out of them.

I voted yes. We use them for drinks in the morning, afternoon breaks (if we take them), and when we return to the resort. We stay for 14 days, so it works well for us. I am a diet coke fiend. Buying sodas or iced tea seperately for 14 days would certainly cost more than the $12 or $13. That being said, if your room is far from the food court and you aren't willing to walk that distance it might not be good for you. We drive down so I have a car at my disposal. Last year at SSR, I just got in the car and drove to the main building to fill them. Without a car, it would have been a long haul!!!:goodvibes

I'm another yes person, but I don't mind carrying the mugs around with us. Generally we have a drink at breakfast, then fill up with soda to take to the park with us. Then when we get off the bus at the resort we've got them with us to fill up again, then another to take to the next park we go to in the afternoon. Then on the way back we'll get a nice hot chocolate to take to bed. So on an average day we'll have 5 refills.

We quite like popping into other resorts for a meal or just to look around so we'll fill up there too. Not sure if that's "allowed" or not. This year we're going for 21 nights in total - 12 in POR, 3 night cruise, 2 nights in AKL then 4 nights in CSR. We won't be buying separate mugs for each resort we stay in!

Yes. Yes...and yes. Did I say yes? LOVE them. We refill them in the morning. Get a couple refills during the afternoon break, and then at night when we get back. We go in the summer, and it is SOOOO nice to not worry about paying for drinks. Of course last year (and this year when we go in August) we got the QSDP. It comes with the mugs. SOOOO happy about that!

Thanks to the OP for the question! I loved reading all the replies.

I'm still trying to decide whether we will want these or not.

It doesn't include milk or juice. I do drink tea, but is it just "ice tea" that's there, or regular style tea bags in hot water type? I like the idea of hot chocolate refills for cold or wet days, and evenings though!

What's left is pop, and that's a heck of a lot of pop to be drinking! My husband & I have weaned our consumption of pop down drastically with trying to lose weight. And I don't want our 11 and 6 year olds having a pop "free for all" all week long...

We will be on the regular DP. So when out-and-about in the parks, we'll have lots to drink and can refill a water bottle each with water & ice from the Counter Service places.

Plus, unless we can pay the extra for the DDxP before our trip, it looks like I'll be ordering some breakfast stuff, and juice boxes from Garden Grocer. And at that point, I'll order a case of Dr. Pepper to keep in our fridge to satisfy our pop cravings! Nothing like a Dr. Pepper on a hot day! ;)

And if we do switch to DDxP, than we'll have even more drinks! Though I may still order our Dr. Pepper...

Ok, after typing this all out it seems I have already decided against the refillable mugs. I just had not realized it yet. :rotfl:

Another yes - between my 2 older kids who I think were camels in another life and my husband and myself who like our a.m. coffee, daytime sodas and iced teas, and bedtime hot tea, it was an absolute bargain. And the cast member said that we should bring them back the next time we visit so that we don't have to buy new ones, so I didn't feel so guilty when we did that!

I say yes. Last trip we were there for 6 full days & 2 half days (arrival & departure day). We LIVED on the frozen Coke at POP. It seemed we were refilling those mugs ALL the time. On our full days we used our mugs in the morning for breakfast, refilled before we left the resort to go to the parks, when we got back to the resort, and then we would send my friends son back to refill when we were in our room atleast once, so that's about 4 times a day. On our half days we probably used them twice. We would also fill them from the water fountains in the parks through out the day. Plus we use them at home ALL the time. We will definately be getting another one when we go down in Oct.

I voted "no" I found it inconvenient to fill them. All three resort stays our room was way to far from the refill station that nobody wanted to walk to fill them. Even when we had breakfast and I drank coffee I found that we did not want to go back to the room to drop off the mug before getting on the bus. Also, I don't think they hold much, they are pretty small, maybe 12 oz? We get four free with the meal plan on our next stay but I don't see us using them any more than we did when we paid for them.

For my family it is definitely worth it!! We get them every year. we like to eat at the food courts a lot at night because we tend to have a larger lunch. Sometimes, we go by the food court in the evening for a snack. I hate the paper cups that regular drinks come in. Some nights, we have had 2 sodas or tea at dinner, then get a hot chocolate to take back to the room. we sometimes put our mugs in the back pack that I carry & fill them up on the way back from the parks.

I said yes, but the answer is really it depends.

If you're room is near the quick service location, then yes. When we were at the Poly, we had a 2 min walk to Capt Cooks, and someone made coffee runs in the morning and cold drink runs in the evening. We got great use out of it. And, we've been using them ever since then.... at home! ;)

When we stayed at POR, we had a 10 min walk. We knew we'd never go there just for drinks, so skipped it.

This.

They are worth it to me. We always eat breakfast in the resort and always fill it up with whatever juice they actually put on the tap. At the end of the day when we swim we always fill them then as well. So we always fill them at least 2-3 times per day.

I said yes, because we typically use ours at least once per day, and always go for a week. That said, we are staying club level this year, so it may not be worth it for us to get them. We shall see.

Trust me, you won't need them on club level. You get all your resort-type drinks from the lounge, and it will be closer to your room than the food court. If you plan on dining in the food court, then you can grab one to take with you. They offer both glass/ceramic cups and paper cups, and typically cans of soda. The one thing you can't do is take a bottle of water or bottle of beer out of the lounge area (unless you pour it in a paper cup.) They even have sippy lids for the paper cups.

The only other thing you can't do is get a beverage after hours. So it is a good idea to bring a few cans of soda or something back to the room to have for later.

Oh, and instead of the marginal offerings they have for refillable mugs, you get better choices: in the morning you can get milk, orange juice. In the afternoon you can get beer or wine, and something like iced tead or lemonade or cranberry juice. In the evening, you can get cordials. I LOVE that you can put real milk in your coffee! Soooo much better than Cremora!:cloud9:

To me, the refillable mugs would be MUCH more valuable if Disney had more refill stations.
