Yes, I reuse my old Wilderness Lodge mugs for every trip. Had them for years and they've held up really well. :goodvibes

I say you should go for it and buy them.

We do buy them and feel it is a good value. Coffee/tea in the am, cold drinks in the afternoon, coffee/tea/hotchocolate when we get back from the parks. so minimum of 3 drinks a day per person, the mug is paid for by day 3.
Plus I have a togo mug and a nice memory of my trip.

I said yes b/c we use it every a.m. for coffee and maybe a few times for a cold beverage during the day while at the pool. I don't get one for the kids however, b/c we don't let them have caffeine or sodas. I bring them juice boxes and milk to keep in the room.

Thanks for the things to weigh in on everyone. There is still a lot for me to consider :) but it sounds like DH is on board for them. I think I'll have to wait to see where our room assignment is! LOL!

Thanks again all!

For us, at this point, it's another yes. Here's why:

1) The mugs are so happy! I use them every day at home. So even if you don't drink enough to get the full value at WDW, it's still a fun reminder of your trip and could be useful at home (especially if you don't already have lots of them in your kitchen already!)
2) My husband and I drink coffee in the morning, and I like to carry the coffee with me to the parks.
3) We don't usually return to the resort in the middle of the day, but we're probably going to do that in July, so we'll get sodas or lemonade mid-day and by the pool.
4) We have coffee or soda in the evening while our boys swim.
5) Even though you can't get free refills in the parks, the mugs are useful to us there. The sodas we buy in the parks are HUGE. So we wash out the mugs and split the sodas.
6) I like to carry something that is relatively sturdy and doesn't spill, especially chasing after the kids!

But the main reason we can do all this is because our youngest (pre-schooler) is still in a stroller, so we throw the mugs in the stroller basket. When he's too old for a stroller, I'm not sure we'll still get the mugs.

So far, we've only bought them for my husband and me, but not our older boys (pre-teens.) We're considering getting mugs for them on the next trip, so that they can have something to carry around for water and then get drinks by the pool.

Good luck deciding!

I voted yes because I can get refills at the Kidani pool while we are swimming and I like to use them once we get back home. I also got refills as we walked around the resort, the kids played in the community room, etc.

A few years back when we stayed at All Star Movies we bought them and it was sort of a pain...too long of a walk from anywhere to get many refills. But we did use them & still enjoyed them as souveniers once we got back home.

For me no. For you maybe? For others sometimes yes and sometimes no.

I wake up, get ready and I'm out the door to the parks. No breakfast and no time to sit around drinking something from the food court.

I get back to the resort late at night. Nope, don't need soda or coffee at that point, I just want some nice bottled water.

I might eat one meal at the food court at the hotel during my entire stay. So for me it's really not worth it.

I said no becuase i would much rather buy a 12 pack of cans and put them in the room fridge than walk to get a fountian drink. I can get 4 12 packs for what one mug costs when I catch a sale, even at $5 a 12 pack you can still get 24 for that price.

Thats good if you drink the same thing everyday. I llike to have coffee with my breakfast. If im back at the hotel for lunch or dinner I might have a soda. Late night I love a hot chocolate. I think they are worth it for longer stays. 4 of my last 5 trips I used it a ton. That was at the 3 AS resorts and Pop. I hardly use it at CBR because it was just way too long of a walk to the food court and we pretty much ate every meal at the parks.

Another YES vote here....when I stayed on property I would fill it with morning coffee and have it on the way to the park...then I would rinse it when there, carry it all day (with something like Crystal Light to go) and get free ice water at the counter stands, then I would reverse the whole thing when I got back to the resort. They pay for themselves many times over & is a "Happy Way to Start the Day" when at home

My DH has what I (only semi-) jokingly call his "debilitating caffeine addiction" - so for us, the vote is a resounding yes. For me, I like coffee, though I could take or leave the soft drinks, but I still think it's worth it for a stay more than a few days.

I voted N-O.

We tried them for a couple of trips but never felt we got our money's worth. We eat breakfast in the room for most of our days but will do one or two breakfast's during our trip. Trouble is this, we bring the mug for breakfast, then have to either a) lug it around all day, or b)someone has to bring it back to the room in the AM.

They aren't at all convenient for use in the hotel room, at least by our standards (again, who want's to do all that running back and forth). They are nice for poolside, but again, we are able to hold off on beverages till we go back to the room after a swim.

I would vote yes! The mugs were worth it!
We used our mugs in the morning for coffee. I took all 4 mugs down & the adults got 2 cups of coffee out of them. In the evening I would bathe one child while the other went with Grandma to refil cups. I drank alot of unsweetened iced tea. (soda isn't really my thing) The kids enjoyed the powerade & lemonade.
I used the mugs to make cold cereal once when I forgot to bring bowls.
We would bring our mugs with us to parks & fill them with Of course, they fit in the basket under my mom's wheelchair. If I had to carry them all day I wouldn't bring them.
My DD still drinks out of a mug she got filled with hot chocolate at Osbourne lights.

That's how I feel, we bring cans of soda from home at pay around $0.25 a can so the mug isn't worth it to me. Plus after being on the dining plan last trip and having soda at almost every meal we hardly had any soda in the room.

You guys are really making me think. I can see the definate validity of both sides of the question.

CONS so far
1. The distance thing... definately worth considering (especially since we are staying in a standard room) - is it worth the walk for the drink?
2. soda + heat??? ... hmm :scratchin ...
3. will the amount we drink "pay" for the mug? :confused3

PROS so far
1. reuse at home
2. coffee for the ride into the parks :hyper:
3. cup more sturdy than the ones at the parks = less spillage around the kids and the stroller
4. transfer park drinks to mugs for easy sharing
5. they're cute darnit! :upsidedow
6. economical for longer trips

For us - totally depends on how close our room is. At Port Orleans FQ, we were virtually across the walkway, and the mugs were great. At AK recently, we could not have been further away, located at the end of the hall. It also depends where you plan to eat meals.

I agree with this poster. Especially since our rooms at POP and POR were so far from the main building. It just wasn't easy to stop in for refills. We used them on our honeymoon at CBR so I was kinda surprised I changed my mind. But I also didn't know about garden grocer back then either. I do buy one every trip, but it is for me to use at home to remind me of our trip. :goodvibes

We live in East Tennessee close to the mountains. If you need anything in planning your trip, let me know

What we do later when we have a mug of coffee on the way to the parks...

We always have a backpack and use a caribeener clip (spelling??) to clip the mug to after its empty if the backpack is full.

Love those clips--so useful for many things.

Yes but you'll need a 5 day stay or more to really get your money out. We used the at breakfast, when around the pol and in the evening after the parks. And remember it's not just pop, there's coffee, tea ,hot coca and lemonade.
