I don't want any arguments over the usage of the mugs... I've seen that far too many times on here. I only intend to use them on this trip (we won't be going back until after the Fantasyland expansion is completed) AND we won't be resort hopping or any of that nonsense.

I would like straight-forward yes and no responses, please.

Are refillable resort mugs REALLY worth it?

I am debating whether or not to get a couple on our trip this fall.

TIA!

I said yes. We go back to our hotel every day so our DD get take a nap and I am a soda-lovin' fool so the # of soda refills I got over our 10-day trip was well worth the mug cost. :goodvibes

We are doing a 6 night trip ourselves. 12$ for at least one fountain drink a night doesn't seem too bad. I imagine we'll use more than one fountain drink a night as well, but it doesn't seem like too bad of a deal.

I said no becuase i would much rather buy a 12 pack of cans and put them in the room fridge than walk to get a fountian drink. I can get 4 12 packs for what one mug costs when I catch a sale, even at $5 a 12 pack you can still get 24 for that price.

We just got back yesterday. For us, it was worth it. We didn't get the Dining Plan this time because we have GAD passes that we upgraded. We decided to get the mugs because we like coffee (even Disney coffee is better than no coffee) in the mornings. I multiplied the cost of one cup of coffee per morning for the number of days we were there. It came out to be less expensive to get the mugs. We also refilled them a couple of times during the afternoon and evening. It depends on you and the length of your stay.

I say it depends. If you are going to use them every day then yes.

Very good point on just ouncage there. We are flying in, so the cost to actually get a 12pack would be alot more [airport prices or get a rental and goto a grocery store]. I imagine my cost/benefit would be alot different if we weren't flying.

I voted no, but I might have a different opinion after our trip in June, when we are getting mugs with our free QS dining.

Personally, though, I don't see a point in them for my family. I don't see us going over to the resort's CS restaurant just to fill the mugs, and we wouldn't be taking the mugs into the park with us, since we can't refill them in the park.

I said yes, but the answer is really it depends.

If you're room is near the quick service location, then yes. When we were at the Poly, we had a 2 min walk to Capt Cooks, and someone made coffee runs in the morning and cold drink runs in the evening. We got great use out of it. And, we've been using them ever since then.... at home! ;)

When we stayed at POR, we had a 10 min walk. We knew we'd never go there just for drinks, so skipped it.

I said no, I'd also rather have a 6 pack (or case, depending on how long I'll be there) in the fridge in my room rather than have to walk down to refill my mug. On my trip last month we had the QSDP which comes with a refillable mug. We hardly used it because 1) we were upgraded to concierge so we could get drinks down the hall from our room and 2) after coming back to the room the last thing we wanted to do was head back where we came from basically to refill our mugs. I wish they were something we could use in the parks, it's just not worth it to carry them around all day so I can refill it when I get off the boat and are heading back to my room.

I think it depends on you and your trip. How long are you staying? Are you staying club level? Do you drink sodas and coffee? Are you looking at it as a souvenier item?

I voted yes. We buy one for stays of at least 6 days and fill it at least twice a day mostly for coffee.

We use dining plan (NOT the plan where you get a free mug) so get plenty of other drinks and bottled water with meals and snack credits otherwise.

We do keep them but like them more for keeping disposables out of landfills rather than for the souvenir.

I agree that it depends on a number of factors. I've usually bought it when I was at the All Star Resorts because no fridge in the room means it is not as easy to just buy a twelve pack and store it in your fridge. I don't do it when I do the dining plan because I get drinks when I'm at my meals. We also buy it sometimes for my husband, but not the rest of us because he prefers Coke to anything else for breakfast. You have to just weigh your situation and decide from there. Good luck!

I voted yes. We tend to refill a minimum of 3 times per day. (morning for coffee, afternoon during our break, and at night before bed) Often we also fill part way through an afternoon or evening swim as well. For us, it is a great value.

I'm voting no. We bought a couple of mugs once and only once and didn't really think it was worth it. We didn't spend enough time at the resort to use them much, it was a pain in the butt to walk to the dining area to get the refills, and the beverages usually got warm before we finished them so we felt like we were being pretty wasteful. We weren't on the dining plan for that trip and still didn't think it ended up being a decent deal for us.

If on the regular dining plan, it would be a downright terrible deal for us. We try to drink a lot of water when at WDW, so we would use a lot of our QS dessert choices on bottled water. And my husband, who loves soda, got plenty of it with his meals - no need to get even more when not having meals.

Ooo... good point, didn't consider that. We are staying at CBR (hopefully Aruba, so right in the middle of things).

We are staying 5 nights/6 days. No club level. I'm a coffee drinker, DH is a soda drinker.

We will be having a water delivery from garden grocer for the parks (I'm only buying 1 case). But I have almost a whole day scheduled for R&R (MNSSHP will be that night) and we plan to spend most of the day by the pool before we nap and change for the party.

Thanks to everyone so far! Would love to hear more opinions. :wizard:

We get one every year. I get a coffee every morning on the way to the Park. We usually grab a drink on the way back to the room. I get a hot cocoa for the kids most every evening for after their swim. Since we stay for 10 days, it seems like a petty good deal to me.

I voted yes, but it's for my husband! He gets one every year, and takes it for his morning coffee/breakfast every day. He gets up before us and goes down to read the paper or have quiet time or whatever...all those mornings add up!! We don't hang at the resort area enough(me and the kids) to warrant one. So,if you are gonna get morning drinks, or something before bed every day, I say it's definitely worth it!

I agree with other posters that it depends on length of stay and you. I'm not a soda drinker.. tea and water for me... and the tea they have for iced tea at the resorts is that horrible Nestea stuff, and I bring my own tea bags because the tea I like is usually only available in decaf! :scared1: I've never bought one, but have had one bought for me by someone in our group. We were on DDP so I used the mug for my water, and got bottles of water as the DDP drink and took those to the park. You have to eat at the resort enough to make that strategy work financially, but it was nice having the "extra" bottles of water. You can never have too many of those!
